24.01.2022 St John WA is currently accepting second round applications from eligible groups to put 1,000 defibrillators across WA. You must be a not-for-profit WA sporting or community group that is an incorporated association or has a similar accountability structure defined by the WA Department of Commerce The grant includes a lock box and the necessary first aid training at a cost of only $249 to successful applicants. It’s all part of our mission to increase survival rates in cardi...ac arrest situations, which is a leading cause of death. Did you know that St John WA responded to over 2,500 cases in 2017? Sadly, only 9% of these patients arrived at the emergency department with a pulse. Research shows that only one in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest situation when there is no intervention by a bystander. But when a defibrillator is administered along with good CPR, this figure increases to one in six. Theses defibrillators will not just be vital to successful applicant organisations, but because they will be externally located, they will bolster the number of publicly accessible defibrillators on the Community First Responder network. This initiative will increase the figure of publicly accessible defibrillators to nearly 6,000. This grant is thanks to our wonderful supporters at Lotterywest. This initiative fits well with their vision in building a better WA together and is proud to continue to support our work, having contributed over $32 million dollars over the last 30 years. 09.01.2022 Since being discharged from hosptial after suffering a cardiac arrest, the original Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page says there needs to be more defibrillators in the c...ommunity. "It's also brought to light for me, the importance of readily available AED machines in all public places," Greg Page said. "These machines should be as readily available as fire extinguishers." We could not agree more, Greg! We have been actively working with members of the community and local businesses to increase the amount of accessible defibs on our streets. If you're interested in equipping your community with a defibrillator, or want more information, please contact our team on 9334 1233, or send us a private message. 7NEWS Australia

09.01.2022 Our amazing team!

07.01.2022 Hi all As keen as you all are to train in first aid, unfortunately, St John WA has made the difficult decision to suspend all first aid training from Monday 23 March 2020 as a precaution to protect the health and safety our staff and the community members participating in our training. We will continually monitor health and government recommendations on social distancing, public events, and gatherings and will resume our training sessions as soon as it is safe to do so.... If you have any queries please email [email protected]. We will respond as quickly as possible but appreciate your patience as we are experiencing a high volume of enquiries at this time. We value your commitment to first aid training and appreciate your understanding and support at this time. Kind regards, St John WA

03.01.2022 Loving those moves St John Ambulance WA Boyup Brook!

02.01.2022 A lot of people are scared of using a defibrillator because they are worried they may cause harm to the casualty, or they are unsure of how to use one properly. Brooke is here to show you how to use a defib and how you could potentially save someone's life.
