This clever couple repurposed a couple of our old church pews and created an intimate area next to our outdoor above-ground pool for people to enjoy some of the finer things in life. 18.01.2022 While you cant bring this many people with you (just a responsibly small 8-10 guests total, with plenty of room for social distancing), you CAN get away this weekend. Weve had a last minute cancellation for the church and were offering it HALF price for this weekend - thats $1250 for two nights for 10 people, or $1000 for two nights for 8 people (normally double both these rates). 17.01.2022 One of our favourite things about St Josephs is the steeple roof we built - its raised above a rooftop lounge area with a little firepit to enjoy. The perfect spot for a sunset drink and cheese board with close friends or family.

09.01.2022 St Josephs Guesthouse has officially turned an incredible 180 years old. Pretty amazing stuff, right? Heres a bit of history. --... On Sunday the 22nd of December, the foundation stone of St Josephs Roman Catholic Church was blessed 180 years ago in 1839, by Bishop J B Polding. The land upon the church was erected and gifted by an emancipated convict, John Watson, who also provided a 300-pound contribution to help with the construction. Work on the church was then drawn out over 5 long years. Originally, it was to be the Cathedral Of The Hawkesbury, with plans to seat 1500 persons. Fast forward to 1843, the contractor working on the church fell a distance of 32 feet and sustained serious internal injuries. We are not sure if he survived and in 1848 it was still reported there was construction going on, so there must have been a period that the church was not worked on. In the 1850s, Cistercian monks, Robert and Odillo Woolfrey took over the parish and added a second floor, as they intended to found a monastery. Soon after, in the 1880s, a bushfire destroyed the shingle roof and interior of the church. Theres been no evidence to actually pinpoint the fire event itself, but a resident nearby named Mr. Smith tried to extinguish the blaze, and salvage the furnishings. In recent times, weve taken over this beautiful property and restored it to be a 5 bedroom guesthouse, thats perfect both weddings and stays, and were thrilled to have just celebrated 180 years on Sunday.
