23.01.2022 We were thrilled to hold our first whole-school assembly for nine months this morning. Whilst we can't yet welcome parents in on a Friday morning, please watch this recording to hear about our 3/4 Camp and our Premier's Reading Challenge students.

23.01.2022 Stay safe everyone

23.01.2022 We were sent this fantastic 1931 class photo by a relative of an ex-student. The student holding the chalkboard at the front is Zelman Cowen, who grew up to become Sir Zelman Cowen, Governor General of Australia from 1977 - 1982. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zelman_Cowen The photo dates from the ten year period when St Kilda Park was a 'Central School', meaning that it took students from Foundation - Year 8. This explains why the class shown are called Grade 8 and look a lit...tle bit too old for Primary School. SKiPPS reverted to being a Primary School in 1933. The building in the background is our 'Heritage Shed' and is still onsite today and used for music lessons. We are still waiting for our 2020 school photos to take place in order to capture any future Governor Generals. We hope these can take place on Wednesday 4th November.

18.01.2022 A set of keys with one of our much sought-after 'Year 6 Graduation' keyrings has been found in Footscray today. Whilst losing your keys is annoying, we are sure there is an ex-skipps parent out there even more distraught to lose this momento of their seven years at our school. If any of our community members recognise them, please get in touch.

18.01.2022 If you love mangoes, here’s your chance to indulge in fresh juicy Kensington Pride mangoes and support our fundraising drive. Fresh North Queensland Mangoes - direct from the farm to you! We are selling trays of mangoes picked and packed during the premium harvest. Each tray has 12 large mangos or up to 23 small mangos.... The cost per Tray is $29 - this represents a saving on supermarket prices, supports the farmers directly and also allows the school to raise funds. Please place your orders on the link below by the 31st October. Trays will then be delivered to the school in early December ready for collection. https://www.trybooking.com/BMGFX

17.01.2022 Following advice from the Department of Education and Training we will be moving to remote and flexible learning from Term 2, to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). This means that all students who can learn at home must learn from home. This is a very clear directive from the Victorian Government based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer. The Department’s latest advice on coronavirus can be found at https://www.education.vic.gov.au/coronavirus... It is important that we work together and support each other during this challenging time. We will be sending out more detailed information to parents and carers shortly via Compass with further details of what remote and flexible learning will look like at our school. In the meantime, you might find it useful to look at the Department’s Learning from Home website. It provides resources and guidance for teachers and parents and carers. https://www.education.vic.gov.au//Pa/learningfromhome.aspx Please continue to stay safe and healthy.

16.01.2022 This year our fantastic SKiPPS team have been supporting Movember Australia by growing some very impressive moustaches. We have nearly raised $3000 for this great cause and we thank the school community for their generosity. It's not too late to show your support - we would appreciate any last minute donations at https://au.movember.com/team/2378255

12.01.2022 Whilst we normally keep our Facebook page school related content only, we know the current COVID-19 situation is affecting many of our SKiPPS families, especially those with their own businesses. We encourage our community to support each other during these tough times, especially those businesses who have always generously supported school events and fundraising. Foxes Den have introduced a new home delivery service for their delicious and healthy food. Visit their website or Facebook page for more information.

12.01.2022 Following advice from the Victorian Government on Tuesday 12 May, some students will be returning to school from Tuesday 26 May. The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that it is safe for students and teachers to return in a two-staged approach: Stage 1 from Tuesday 26 May: Prep to Grade 2 will return to on-site schooling. All staff will attend on-site.... Stage 2 from Tuesday 9 June: Grade 3 to Year 6 students will return to on-site schooling, subject to health advice. It is important that we work together and support each other during this challenging time. We will be in touch with staff and parents shortly with more details. The Department’s latest advice on coronavirus can be found at www.education.vic.gov.au/coronavirus

10.01.2022 We are excited to announce the arrival of our very own SKiPPS Spoonville! Ruby and Poppy in Year 6 had the great idea to set up our own school Spoonville and have started this in the kitchen garden at the back of the school. They would love SKiPPS families and members of the local community to make and add some friends.... Have fun and we look forward to seeing the Spoonville family grow.
