21.01.2022 Archbishop Philip Freier's weekly update on the further relaxation of restrictions of gathering for Church services, and what technology means for the future of work and worship as Victoria tries to get back on its feet.

20.01.2022 The City of Melbourne is to return to Stage 3 restrictions from 11:59pm on Wednesday the 8th of July for six weeks. Please show 'love of neighbour' by staying home unless necessary. Regardless of races, religions or political persuasions, let's work together towards a COVID normal for all Melburnians and see everyone's health and safety as important as our own.

18.01.2022 Anglican Church of Australia House of Bishops’ Statement in response to the Opinions of the Appellate Tribunal - published 11 November 2020 "..In light of the above, this meeting of the House of Bishops calls all people, including ourselves, to holiness of life, and we resolve: a) to seek to speak the truth in love, mindful of Jesus’ prayer for His followers in John 17. In particular, we will publicly acknowledge areas of agreement as well as disagreement among us; b) to enga...ge with our Diocesan Synods and Councils as they consider the Opinions and any implications for their life and witness; c) to prepare for the General Synod thoughtfully and prayerfully so we might have informed and careful discussions and debates; d) to urge clergy within our dioceses to manifest the fruit of the Spirit in considering whether or how to bless those married according to the Marriage Act 1961; e) to care for all people in our dioceses affected by these issues including those who identify as LGBTIQA+; f) to care for people who are questioning their ongoing participation in this Church for whatever reason. We call upon all members of the Anglican Church of Australia to join us in prayer that we might be sustained by the Holy Spirit in unity, truth and holiness for the glory of God and the wellbeing of the world Christ calls us to serve." https://anglican.org.au//House-of-Bishops-Statement-Nov-20

17.01.2022 Jesus said: "And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward." Matthew 6:5

11.01.2022 Archbishops Justin Welby and Sentamu - Recent events in the United States of America have once again drawn public attention to the ongoing evil of white supremacy. Systemic racism continues to cause incalculable harm across the world. Our hearts weep for the suffering caused for those who have lost their lives, those who have experienced persecution, those who live in fear. Gods justice and love for all creation demands that this evil is properly confronted and tackled. L...et us be clear: racism is an affront to God. It is born out of ignorance, and must be eradicated. We all bear the responsibility and must play our part to eliminate this scourge on humanity. As Dr Martin Luther King Jr said, In a real sense, we are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Therefore, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We pray that Gods abounding wisdom, compassion and love will guide leaders across the world to forge a better society. See more

10.01.2022 #blackouttuesday This post originally also said Black Lives Matter with the hashtag. However, we recently found out that those connected to the protests in the USA are using this hashtag to share resources and helpful information on the ground. As such, in an aid to actually try to help protesters there, we removed the hashtag. We nonetheless still absolutely mean it. https://edition.cnn.com//blackout-tuesday-black/index.html

02.01.2022 Sunday Matins for Pentecost #3 is a little different this week. This service was recorded via Zoom from the Hawksburn Vicarage. Bishop Genieve Blackwell, bishop of the Marmingatha Episcopate in the Diocese of Melbourne, joined Fr Luke and Alice for this service. The quality of the video is a little poorer than usual, but we hope that this wont distract from your prayers.

02.01.2022 Happy Martinmas! Today we celebrate our patronal festival here at Hawksburn. St Martin of Tours was one of the most beloved saints in Medieval Europe. He inspired generations of bishops by his generosity, devotion, and love. We hope St Martin can continue to inspire Christian communities throughout the world today. In the midst of this continuing global pandemic, may St Martin pray for us and may we, like him, reach out to others as Christ himself.

01.01.2022 Fathers Day is about celebrating a parents efforts to nurture their children. It is a moment to stop and say thank you. But have you noticed how often the car...ds, gifts and ads we see are based on and reinforce masculine stereotypes? We have created this video with the help of some leaders in the Diocese of Melbourne to share with us the messages they have noticed about #FathersDay and how much they reflect what most dads are really like. A special thank you to our friends Revd Bree Mills, Revd Elizabeth Murray, Revd Peter Carolane and Philip Nicholls for their contributions to this video!
