18.01.2022 Due to the health risk of COVID-19, St Marys Bungendore is temporarily suspending mass and other public gatherings at the church for three weeks, up to and including Sunday 5 April 2020. Fr Peter and Deacon Chris will still be available for pastoral care during this time. This is a difficult decision for our little faith community but it is done so in order to do our best to contain the spread of this extremely harmful and highly contagious disease. A working group is deve...loping options for the future activities of the St Marys community and will provide updated advice on this in two weeks, prior to celebrating the Easter Triduum. The St Marys weekly bulletin will be distributed and include Sunday liturgy and commentary, and updated advice from the Parish and Archdiocese. The Archdiocese will be providing daily Gospel, commentary and prayers of intercession online everyday from 6am. This is available at www.catholicvoice.org.au/mass Mass For You at Home is produced by the Catholic Church and broadcast on the Aurora channel and 10Play and is also available at https://10play.com.au/mass-for-you-at-home Fr Peter, Deacon Chris and members of the Working Group will be at St Marys church on Sunday mornings to advise current arrangements, operating in accordance with social distancing protocols. 06.01.2022 Tomorrow, Thursday 15th August, the Church celebrates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady when according to our faith, the Holy Mother, having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. Although defined as an article of faith by Pope Pius XII just over half a century ago, the Assumption of Our Lady into heaven has been accepted from back to the earliest of Christian times. The Assumption signals the end of Marys earthly... life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. While the bodies of both Jesus and Mary are now in heaven, there is a difference between the Assumption and the Resurrection. Where Jesus arose from the tomb and ascended into heaven by his own power, Marys body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son. For this reason we use different words to describe each event. One is the Ascension of Christ and the other, the Assumption of Mary.

06.01.2022 Many Catholics spend hours pondering what to give up for Lent, but this year, why not add something? 10 Things To Do During Lent Besides Giving Something Up: ...1. Each day tell your child something that makes them unique 2. Volunteer 3. Go to a weekday Mass 4. Say three nice things to your husband or wife, siblings, parents, colleagues and kids daily 5. Be kind 6. Donate things you dont need to charity 7. Replace 30 minutes of TV/computer/phone time with 30 minutes of prayer/quiet time 8. Dont complain 9. Dont buy anything that you dont need 10. Remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season #lent #reasonfortheseason See more

05.01.2022 I love our little faith community!

04.01.2022 You must read this to the end....Church is hard. Church is hard for the person walking through the doors, afraid of judgement. Church is hard for the preachers family, under the microscope of an entire body.... Church is hard for the prodigal soul returning home, broken and battered by the world. Church is hard for the girl who looks like she has it all together, but doesnt. Church is hard for the couple who fought the entire ride to service. Church is hard for the single mom, surrounded by couples holding hands, and seemingly perfect families. Church is hard for the widow and widower with no invitation to lunch after service. Church is hard for the deacon with an estranged child. Church is hard for the person singing worship songs, overwhelmed by the weight of the lyrics. Church is hard for the man insecure in his role as a leader. Church is hard for the wife who longs to be led by a righteous man. Church is hard for the nursery volunteer who desperately longs for a baby to love. Church is hard for the single woman and single man, praying God brings them a mate. Church is hard for the teenage girl, wearing a scarlet letter, ashamed of her mistakes. Church is hard for the sinners. Church is hard for me. Its hard because on the outside it all looks shiny and perfect. Sunday best in behavior and dress. However, underneath those layers, you find a body of imperfect people, carnal souls, selfish motives. But, here is the beauty of church Church isnt a building, mentality, or expectation. Church is a body. Church is a group of sinners, saved by grace, living in fellowship as saints. Church is a body of believers bound as brothers and sisters by an eternal love. Church is a holy ground where sinners stand as equals before the Throne of Grace. Church is a refuge for broken hearts and a training ground for mighty warriors. Church is a converging of confrontation and invitation. Where sin is confronted and hearts are invited to seek restoration. Church is a lesson in faith and trust. Church is a bearer of burdens and a giver of hope. Church is a family. A family coming together, setting aside differences, forgetting past mistakes, rejoicing in the smallest of victories. Church, the body, and the circle of sinners-turned-saints, is where He resides, and if we ask, He is faithful to come. So even on the hard days at church The days when I am at odds with a friend, When Ive walked in bearing burdens heavier than my heart can handle, yet masking the pain with a smile on my face. When Ive worn the pressures of the world, under the microscope. When Ive longed for a baby to hold, or fought tears as the lyrics were sung. When Ive walked back in, afraid and broken, after walking away. Ill remember, He has never failed to meet me there. This season of Advent and always, you are welcome in St. Marys

02.01.2022 Holy Thursday Today commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ and the washing of the feet As Sr Antoinette (Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart) refl...ects: "Our observance of Easter will be different this year. Most of us will reflect and pray alone or in small groups. As we do so we recall the words and actions of Jesus. We are all called to wash feet, literally or metaphorically. We are called to reach out to others even as we are being bombarded with messages of personal and social isolation. We are reminded that the sacred is to be found in everyday actions. We are also reminded that sometimes we are called to allow others to wash our feet." Over the next four days, you are invited to reflect on our love for Jesus Pause and reflect on Holy Thursday here... sosj.org.au/easter-reflections-2020 #HolyThursday #LastSupper #HolyWeek #Jesus #Easter #SistersOfSaintJoseph #Saint #MaryMacKillop #SaintMaryMacKillop #StMaryOfTheCross See more
