25.01.2022 On the 6th September we commemorate the Miracle of the Archangel Michael at Colossae in Phrygia when he delivered from destruction a church and holy spring named for him. The pagans, moved by malice, sought to destroy the his church and holy spring by turning the course of two rivers against them. But the Archangel appeared and, by means of the Cross and a great earthquake that shook the entire area, diverted the waters into an underground course. Henceforth, the name of that place was 'Chonae' or 'funnel'.

THE READING FOR THE DAY IS THAT OF THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER - GOD SENDING HIS WORD INTO ALL THE WORLD.

13.01.2022 A FRESH DIRECTION I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our Spiritual Father, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, who has given me his b...lessing to pursue further studies and, God willing, a PhD in Church History in the coming years. In order to have the time devote to this and to my teaching obligations at St Andrew’s Theological College His Eminence has, at my request, also relieved me of my duties at St Michael’s Church, Crows Nest, and appointed me as Acting Parish Priest of St Nektarios Church in Wollongong for the next few months. I am grateful to Father John and Presbytera Maria Daskalakis, the Parish President Dimitrios Gongolidis and his predecessor, Chris Lepouris as well as the Main Committee, Ladies Philoptochos, the Chanters, the Youth and Parishioners of the Northern Suburbs for a wonderful 3 years serving there as the Assistant Priest. Your hospitality and generosity of spirit have touched my family and me deeply and we will miss you all. Tomorrow’s Feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos will be my last Liturgy. I greet the parishioners of my new parish of St Nectarios in Wollongong and I look forward to meeting you all this Sunday. I am honoured that I have been given the opportunity by our Archbishop to be part of his vision of reuniting the Wollongong Greek Orthodox community under the auspices of the Holy Archdiocese after so many decades.
