14.01.2022 Protect your Outboard Motor It is important to protect your outboard motor from salt and that includes salt as a result of airborne salt spray off your boat’s transducer. In recent times transducers have increased in size with technology improvements but the negative impact of this is interruption to the water surface throwing up increased levels of airborne salt spray that in turn can be ingested through the outboard cowlings breathe ports.... This spray when entering the under cowling area both lands of the engine and electrical surfaces that will result in corrosion but also is ingested by your engine which will shorten the life of the engine or may cause running issues. The answer to this is to limit the amount of water entering the air by deflecting water from the transducer in a downward direction. The way you can achieve this is by fitting a transducer spray deflector that suits the size of your transducer. In this video we show you both salt that has entered the under cowling area and also an example of a spray deflector. Protect your Yamaha outboard today!
