23.01.2022 Good afternoon all, The Stony Creek Football Netball Club has applied to affiliate with the Central Gippsland Junior Football League. Our club is looking to field teams in the U15s (4ths) / U13s / U11s / U9s.... Where possible U15s (4ths) will be played on a Saturday morning with our club prior to the U18s (3rds). As you are aware, Dale Gilliate will be coaching our U13s & is working hard already to encourage kids & families to join our club for the 2021 season. We are still actively seeking an U15s (4ths) coach and also now seeking U11 & U9 coaches. As you would all be aware junior participation is one of clubs biggest challenges & we are confident that joining the CGJFL will be a positive step forward, as we look to encourage new kids & families to our club. I will keep you all updated with our application & progress. I encourage all our players, members & supporters to assist our club in promoting our affiliation with the CGJFL & help to encourage kids, families & coaches to our club. As always please feel free to contact me if you have any queries. Thanks Mark Le Page

18.01.2022 Hi All, Just letting all our players, members, supporters & sponsors know that last night the Mid Gippsland Football Netball League accepted all 6 Alberton Football Netball League Clubs for 2021. We are extremely thankful & honoured to be joining the MGFNL & we look forward to forming new relationships, friendship's & rivalries with the MGFNL clubs from 2021 & beyond. ... To the Toora, Foster, Fish Creek, Tarwin & MDU FNC's, the SCFNC thanks you all your efforts over the last couple of months & the ability to work as one is something we should all be very proud of. It is a credit to all involved & whilst we form new relationship's in our new home, our club will always look forward to our games for many more years to come. The Alberton FNL was important to us, however the survival of our 5 fellow clubs is more important to us. I must stress that contrary to reports in the media & on social media, this is NOT a merger or amalgamation with MGFNL. We are joining the MGFNL, & any reports that it is a merger or amalgamation is false, misleading & incorrect. Things will play out over the coming weeks & l will keep you all informed as we go & please if you have any queries please feel free to contact me. Again, on behalf of the Stony Creek Football Netball Club, we sincerely thank the MGFNL for their acceptance & we can't wait for our future to start with the Mid Gippsland Football Netball League. Thanks Mark Le Page President - SCFNC 0447 352 208 [email protected]

17.01.2022 Hey everyone, below is the proposed amendments to our current constitution for viewing by members for discussion at the upcoming AGM on the 7th of December. There is also a version on our website, https://www.stonycreekfnc.com/calender which you can use to download and read it. If you have any questions, please contact me here and we can discuss them. Thanks!

17.01.2022 Well, with the easing of coronavirus restrictions now coming into effect, the club was able to return to the track last Thursday night at The Racecourse, and the longest pre-season in the history of football-netball recommenced. Although we are still uncertain about whether a season will go ahead at this stage, it was a great outcome that we can once again return to training and share the company of our teammates. While it has been nearly 2 and a half months since pre-season... ceased in March it was clear that some players had been keeping their fitness up, and for others, it obvious that they had not. If a season is to get underway and crowds are able to return to the local sporting scene, many will be shocked to see the new and improved Jacob Cec Pit Cecil, who has used his time in quarantine to get his body into, to quote himself elite condition, and has ensured that he has let Coach Accardi know about his new elite fitness level. Among others to have returned to the track last week included Liam The Ram Harrington, Hayden Funnell and Johnny Phillips, with Coach Accardi reportedly making an enquiry to the league to ask if The Ram is able to wear a hat on game day, as he cant bear to look at that haircut for much longer. Over on the courts the girls returned to the asphalt, with all reports indicating that not a beat was missed despite the long interval between sessions. Coach Duscher was happy with the numbers that arrived, and eased the squad back into things nicely. With training back, make sure you put in the effort to get down to The Racecourse and have a run around over the next week or two. Although we remain uncertain regarding the recommencement of sport in South Gippsland, all we can do is our part and if a season is to occur, we will be ready to tackle it head on. And finally we have had some positive news, we wish to congratulate 2009 Senior Premiership player Cam Le Page and his wife, former A Grade Best and Fairest winner Jess, on their recent pregnancy. Congratulation to you both, lets hope your child turns out nothing like its Uncle Mark! Until next week. The Stony Scriptures

15.01.2022 Morning all, The SCFNC is saddened at the passing of Kevin Dempsey. A premiership player, life member & proud supporter, Kevin was a familiar & friendly presence around our club. Kevin will be sorely missed by all those who knew him & the Stony Creek community in general. Our sincere condolences to Elaine & the Dempsey family. From the Members, players & supporters of The Stony Creek Football Netball Club

15.01.2022 The media-man himself on The Local Footy Show this week, lets get around him!

14.01.2022 Stony Creek Notes: Another week of training occurred at The Racecourse last week and it was pleasing to see the training numbers remaining consistent, and even more satisfying was seeing a number of players showing their faces on the oval and over on the courts for the first time since pre-season was cancelled in March. While nothing has happened on the field in 2020, the same cant be said for off the field. It is terrific to see the renovations of the dining room coming alo...ng superbly. Its amazing what a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture can do to a room, and Im sure all Lions supporters cant wait to get back into the rooms on a Thursday night, enjoy a great feed, a few beers and maybe even win the members draw in the new updated facilities. The new playground besides the netball courts is also starting to look closer to being completed and this will be a valuable asset for the club going forward. Although, Ive heard whispers that not everyone is happy with the new playground, specifically our Reserves captain, with his highly prized reserved car park now unusable. With some framework now set with how we wish to see the season commence, all we can do now is wait and see what happens. Its important that all players from all grades continue to hit the track consistently and prepare as if a season is to be played. Following on from last weeks good news, we wish to congratulate another 2009 Senior Premiership player, with Julian Stone popping the question to his longtime girlfriend Laura. Many congratulations to you both on the engagement from all at the club. Until next week, The Stony Scriptures

13.01.2022 Hi All, As you have no doubt heard, the AFNL has this morning cancelled the 2020 season due to COVID19. Whilst we are disappointed that we won't have season 2020, we are in support of the decision, as the amount of work involved to adhere to the COVID19 regulations would have stretched our great group of volunteers (playing Football & Netball would have been the easy part of this). All players will be contacted by their coaches in the next day or two regarding the next steps ...forward. Our goal has always been to try & get back to a normal Thursday night, so we can all get together, enjoy a meal together & support our local community, whist adhering to the strict COVID19 guidelines. I will be in contact with our coaches to discuss what they believe is best for our players & in turn we will decide what is in the best for our club as whole moving forward over the coming weeks. I think it is important to remember that we are more than just a football & netball club. We have an obligation to our players, member's, supporters, sponsors & community as a whole to make sure we give everybody an outlet & a sense of belonging in these times. We will now continue to focus & improve our facilities around the club over the next few months. As you can see, we have still been busy & the playground is the latest project that is 3/4 complete. This will give us a chance to get everything ready for 2021. In the meantime, we need to continue to support our great sponsors who support our club. Our sponsors of the week will continue indefinitely. So, when you see our sponsors of the week on FB, or on the weekly text our members & supporters get, or, if it is something you need regardless, make sure you support them anyway you can. They have been an amazing support to us & we need to continue to help them out in these difficult times. I thank you all for your positivity, help & focus through this period. Please feel free to contact me should you have any queries. Thanks Mark Le Page President - SCFNC 0447 352 208 [email protected]

12.01.2022 Hi All, Just a quick update on the ground Reno. We are getting the top 50mm-60mm removed and getting back to a solid surface due to years of wear & tear. This will be our first major renovation since 1990 where the ground was totally ripped up & renovated from scratch.... Thanks to Jay Accardi for his work spraying the ground out last week & to Chris Verboon from Sth Gippsland Turf Solutions for managing the project. Stage 2 is looking to start in the next week or two..... I will keep you updated. Cheers Mark Le Page

08.01.2022 Yes, it was the Glengarry Recreation Reserve yesterday! Again, well done to those that identified it correctly. If you can identify todays oval, tell us one o...f the quirky features about it. How well do you know the Gippsland football community?? Each day for the rest of May, a snippet of an oval like the one below will be posted. Then its over to you to tell us: - Where am I? - Tell us which club calls this their home ground - Share your favourite memories that took place at the ground pictured Lets all get to know a little more about our Gippsland football community.

06.01.2022 To All SCFNC Players, Members, Sponsors & Supporters, Last night (Monday June 9th) the SCFNC held it monthly committee meeting. The main topic of discussion is whether or not the AFNL & our clubs 2020 season would go ahead, should restrictions be lifted to accommodate 500+ people at social events / gatherings.... As a result, & to give our playing group, members, sponsors & supporters a clear direction on where this season is going to take us, the below was decided: The SCFNC has requested that the the AFNL needs to announce by 5pm, June 30, 2020: That the 2020 AFNL 2020 Season - going ahead / not going ahead If the season is to go ahead our club's recommendation to the to the AFNL is as follows: 1. That the season start on - Saturday July 18th, 2020 - any later start would not be feasible 2. That there be 10 rounds, each club playing each other twice 3. That there be 2 weeks of finals: 4. Finals: x2 Prelims: Saturday Sept 26th / Sunday Sept 27th, 2020 5. Grand Final: Saturday October 3rd, 2020 Our committee agreed that if restrictions were not lifted to cater for 500+ at gatherings/events then the season would need to be cancelled. Should the season be declared "ON" prior to June 30, the start date should still remain July 18th. ALL players need to prepare themselves for a Saturday July 18th start date. From the SCFNC point of view, the season will go ahead on Saturday July 18 until advised otherwise. So, with training restrictions being eased (up to x2 groups of 20), it is important that if you are fit & healthy, & adhering to current COVID19 regulations, that you attend training(s) for the start of the season......Round 1, Saturday July 18th 2020. The SCFNC is ready to go & has been since early March. All preparations have been made so we are ready to roll. Now we have a clear goal, a clear date that will give everybody involved something to strive for & get our community back together. I will keep you all updated as we go. Please feel free to contact me should you have any queries. Thanks Mark Le Page President - SCFNC 0447 352 208 [email protected]

05.01.2022 G’day everyone, it’s Jye Davey here. I am taking over the Fundraising position with the Stony Footy & Netball Club for 2021. With the hard year that 2020 has been, our club is in a strong position, however as some will know we won’t have any fundraising from the Camp draft this year, which is a big asset to us. The Stony Races will still be happening and are just around the corner, with the first meeting on Monday 28th (Public Holiday) and Tuesday January 5th.... We are seeking people to fulfil a few jobs that need covering on these two meets. Bar : 3 people (at this stage, depending on crowd size could be up to 6) 11:45am - 5pm Divots : 6-8 people 1pm till finish If you can spare this time on either or both these meetings, please let me know as soon as possible. The races will be one of our major fundraising incomes up until the start of the season, any time donated by anyone will be greatly appreciated! Cheers, and have a great Christmas!

02.01.2022 Hi All, Just an update regarding our AGM. At this stage, & pending COVID restrictions we will be looking to have our AGM towards the end of November.
