25.01.2022 Core Lithium want to destroy at least 251 hectares of wildlife rich bush. To put that in perspective, that's the same area as Nightcliff and Rapid Creek, or most of Roseberry. #StopCoreLithium

25.01.2022 Because Lithium is so clean. These people are in the front line of the WA lithium industry. 600,000 tonnes of tailings being 'stored' just 3.5 Kms from town. #StopCoreLithium

24.01.2022 Further evidence that this proposed mine does not have a market. Too many big players, and global oversupply. Yet the NT will probably allow this project to proceed and then fail. #StopCoreLithium

20.01.2022 Massive expansion of lithium mines and hydroxide processing plants in WA. This will put even more pressure on Core to be a low cost, cheap and nasty operator. #StopCoreLithium

19.01.2022 Curlews and dugongs, not lithium mines. The Leonardi/Gunner/Kirby government is seriously considering unmitigated lithium mining in the headwaters of Darwin and Bynoe Harbours. The EIS for this project was a travesty of cut and paste and does not reflect the real aspirations and plans of the 5c mining company that proposes this project. All mines create pollution. Water pollution and air pollution. Carbon pollution. Except this one. This one uses magical technology that means no pollution at all. #StopCoreLithium

17.01.2022 So this lithium mine in WA actually has environmental conditions imposed upon it. Amazing. #StopCoreLithium

16.01.2022 6 years of footage from Litchfield 'National' Park, one frame per day. 4 fire events are recorded. If you wondered about how slowly trees grow in the NT, keep an eye on the small tree in the foreground. Core Lithium (CXO) have exploration licenses that go all the way from West Arm Darwin Harbour, right through the Bynoe region, and down to the boundary of Litchfield Park.... #StopCoreLithium #DontBurnBynoe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH58_21fjA4

14.01.2022 The headline from WA Today pretty much sums it up. There is nothing clean, green or renewable about the Australian hard rock lithium mining industry. This pollution is from a lithium hydroxide plant, not the actual spodumene mine at Greensbushes. Core Lithium's proposal is even worse from a CO2e viewpoint, being entirely run on diesel when the project is just 9Kms from the main grid.

09.01.2022 Darwin Harbour's mangroves are too precious to lose.

07.01.2022 Nothing green about the NT's proposed hard rock lithium mine either. #StopCoreLithium https://www.salon.com//lithium-mining-for-green-electric-c

07.01.2022 Some more on the WA plan to dump lithium processing waste in a tourist wine region. Despite claims that the waste is non toxic, it turns out is toxic with mercury and beryllium. What they do is is they ship the ore by road about 150 Kms to Bunbury, process it into lithium hydroxide, and then to save money, they dump the toxic waste just down the road.... This is relevant because Core Lithium have grandiose plans to build their own hydroxide plant at Middle Arm. https://www.watoday.com.au//the-small-south-west-community

07.01.2022 Not Core Lithium though. This ill conceived operation will be entirely powered by diesel, despite being 9kms from the grid. The NT government should mandate grid connections, and a substantial solar PV system. #CarbonBomb #StopCoreLithium

06.01.2022 Solar powered lithium mine This operation is a similar scale to the proposed Bynoe mine. "Power on site at Mt Cattlin is provided by a dedicated diesel generator supported by state-of-the-art solar tracking technology. Galaxy has 14 giant solar trackers and 2 wind turbines in operation at Mt Cattlin, which together generate 226 MWh per year of renewable energy. Mt Cattlin was the first mine site in Australia to have real-time solar tracking panels as part of its power generat...ing requirements. The solar tracking feature means the solar panels are able to follow the sun in all directions to maximise the power generated and provide 15% more power than a single axis system. The wind and solar hybrid system supplements power from Galaxy’s 5MW diesel generator. This system also promotes savings in CO2 emissions." http://www.gxy.com/projects/mt-cattlin

06.01.2022 We have been saying for a long time that hard rock lithium mining is a stupid game. And this is exactly what we will see if the NT government is stupid enough to allow the ill conceived Grants lithium project to proceed. Lithium is not rare, nor is it precious. It is expensive to produce, highly carbon intensive, and this NT mine will likely also fail. Prices continue to fall around the world as more and more lithium comes into production. All the people of the NT will get from Core is another polluted legacy mine. #StopCoreLithium

05.01.2022 That headline is incorrect. They don't have a 'green light'. What they have is a completed assessment of their initial EIS by the NTEPA. The EIS was sadly lacking, the Supplement represents a major change to scope of the project, and the EPA failed to critically assess a few really basic things like the extraordinary carbon footprint of the project. I’m going to throw a huge thumbs up to the EPA, the government agencies, and importantly the community members who contributed ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Not in the NT, and especially not with uber metal lithium. All of the lithium produced in the NT, if our silly mine ever happens, will be entirely produced using thousands of litres of diesel a day. This is despite the fact the mine site is just 9kms from an industrial strength grid connection, powered by gas. Whats remarkable about this travesty is the NTG (so far) has put no conditions on this mine in regards to its rampant carbon pollution or climate change contributions. ...This is before you account for the embedded carbon that is in all the imported ferrosilicon, and all of the transport costs for the plant and shipping the ore. Our analysis is that this stupid mine, and its lithium concentrate will feature some of highest embedded CO2e of any lithium produced in the world today. #StopCoreLithium https://reneweconomy.com.au/mining-giant-looks-to-wind-and-

02.01.2022 Musk even commented that Tesla could end up in the mining business to acquire the necessary materials for its vehicles’ and energy storage products’ cells.
