22.01.2022 Now I feel more confident about the future of the world!

21.01.2022 Of course you would!

17.01.2022 Did you know that THE PHANTOM, that superhero cartoon dynasty dedicated to the destruction of all forms of piracy, greed and cruelty, is Australia's longest-running comic by decades, and that many of the drawings for them have been produced in Blackheath by renowned comic book artist Jason Paulos. We were thrilled when he joined us for the Blue Mountains Pluriversity's Youth Cafe this week. In Australia, the Australian Woman's Mirror began publishing the strip in 1936 and Fre...w Publications has published a fortnightly Phantom comic book since 1948. Frew's The Phantom is the longest-running comic-book series with the character in the world, and Australia's bestselling comic book. Jason showed us a small cross-section of his work and we’re looking forward to visiting his studio in the future to see more. You can also buy copies of his book, The Comic Art of Jason Paulos at The Elephant Bean Cafe in Katoomba. If you weren’t able to make it to the Youth Cafe this time but would like to come on the studio visit, contact Lis on 0407 437 553. The next event in the Pluriversity's Cartooning School will be the free Cartooning and Creative Thinking Workshop on November 17 with Ian Dalkin. Bookings here: http://bmpluriversity.org/cartooning-and-creative-thinking/

17.01.2022 Ian Dalkin of Stop Laughing This Is Serious has been hamming it up with Bruce Tonning our local butcher.

11.01.2022 An ad about the Australien government's "plans to become one of the top 10 exporters of arms in the world ... it's surprisingly honest and informative." Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhfqQzMVJxI

06.01.2022 Oh dear, I can't stop chuckling. This is hysterically funny. " ‘A lot of people think they know how to sharpen pencils, but they don’t.’ Such is the view of Da...vid Rees, an artisan pencil-sharpener who’s sharpened some 1,500 No 2 pencils for paying customers. With deadpan humour and shrewd insight, Rees talks the audience through a step-by-step guide to achieving the perfect pencil point, while giving a brief history of the modern pencil and pencil-sharpening tools. Using the undeniably charismatic Rees as his subject, Kenneth Price’s film is a light reflection on the inherent value of care and precision." See more

05.01.2022 If you know anyone who'd like to spend the evening having dinner and conversation with a professional Comic Book and Storyboard artist and illustrator, let them know about our exciting Youth Cafe with Jason Paulos this coming Wednesday 16 October at 6pm. It's a free event but please book here: http://bmpluriversity.org/jason-paulos/

03.01.2022 "Counterintuitive though it may seem, ridicule and mockery have long been an effective way to disarm protesters who espouse bigotry and racial supremacy. If you want to resist those who would stir up violence, using humor is more effective than staying at home when they march, and far better than rewarding their provocations with a melee in the streets. A good joke creates a memorable, clear message, allowing the protesters to reframe the issue and attract supporters. Humor engages people on an emotional level and if it is not meanspirited it can open them to your message. And it can expose absurdity. A social-change strategist, John Jackson, calls it making the invisible visible. "

02.01.2022 The inspiring Emma Magenta will be sharing her expertise in illustration and storyboarding for books and film in a free Blue Mountains Pluriversity workshop for young people aged 16-30 this coming Friday 25 October. Places are limited so you'll need to book here: http://bmpluriversity.org/illustrating-and-storyboarding/ This workshop has been made possible thanks to funding received from Blue Mountains City Council's City of the Arts Trust grant program.
