08.01.2022 This month at St Paul's, we are keeping a Season of Creation. The theme is 'Jubilee for the Earth'. 'And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and you shall proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you: you shall return, every one of you, to your property and every one of you to your family.' (Leviticus 25:10, NRSV) Jubilee means a 'rams horn' it was blown to mark the start of a time of universal redemption. The year of Jubilee i...nvolved release from indebtedness, when injustices of the past fifty years were to be restored. It was also a time for rest for the land. The theme of Jubilee has clear links to the root paradigms fueling unjust exploitation, such as neoliberal and capitalist approaches to the world economy. It brings together the need for a prophetic voice on climate injustice and actions for the restoration of the Earth. The theme of Jubilee affirms the need for equality, justice and SEASON OF CREATION. 'from Seasons of Creation Resources' Feel free to join us in our Zoom Services at 9.30am on Sundays. Contact Sr Elisa via this post for a link. I encourage you to reflect on your relationship to our planet. What does it mean to you to be connected to the earth? How might you change something you do, to participate in the healing of the earth? This world of ours is a wonderful God given gift, let us together grow in our ability to love other people by being just stewards of this planet?

07.01.2022 Something to ponder in these times Lockdown Yes there is fear.... Yes there is isolation. Yes there is panic buying. Yes there is sickness. Yes there is even death. But, They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise You can hear birds again. They say that after just a few weeks of quiet The sky is no longer thick with fumes But blue and grey and clear. They say that in the streets of Assisi People are singing to each other Across the empty squares, Keeping their windows open So that those who are alone May hear the sounds of family around them. They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound. Today a young woman I know Is busy spreading fliers with her number Through the neighbourhood So that the elders may have someone to call on. Today churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples Are preparing to welcome and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way All over the world people are waking up to a new reality To how big we really are. To how little control we really have. To what really matters. To love. So we pray and we remember that Yes there is fear. But there does not have to be hate. Yes there is isolation. But there does not have to be loneliness. Yes there is panic buying. But there does not have to be meanness. Yes there is sickness. But that doesn’t not have to be disease of the soul Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now. Today, breathe. Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic The birds are singing again The sky is clearing, Spring is coming, And we are always encompassed by love. Open the windows of your soul And though you may not be able To touch across the empty square Sing. Fr Richard Hendrick OFM March 2020
06.01.2022 Ready for Palm Sunday with the diaspora. Our service will be on Zoom.
03.01.2022 We joined today with survivors of abuse and other supporters, tying ribbons to our church fence to show our desire in a public way, to be agents of healing and care. It was deeply gratifying to receive the positive response from those who came. A number expressed how helpful our hospitality in this way, was to them. We pray that this is an opportunity to keep building bridges for healing and reconciliation.
