24.01.2022 You may have already guessed that current social distancing measures mean we cannot go ahead with the Arts Trail in its usual format in 2020. Rather than cance...l, we see this as a fantastic opportunity to offer an alternative program that is still in keeping with the Arts Trail ethos of bringing artists and art lovers together. The updated (Not the) Surf Coast Arts Trail 2020 will feature events for both artists and the general public alike and will excite, engage and entertain. As an artist, youll still have the opportunity to share your work with the public PLUS youll have access to workshops, skill sharing, networking and more. With the theme of Physical Distance/Social Connection, we would also love to see the creation of a body of work that is both important and uniquely relevant to our times. With this in mind, well be encouraging individual and collaborative contributions from creatives beyond the visual arts this year writers, musicians, poets, designers were all in this together. So please tag any friends you may have who fit this bill! The program is a work in progress, so were open to hearing about your great ideas for online events, collaborations and expressions of interest for events, such as Meet the artist online fireside chats, how to virtual workshops and Zoom studio tours. So get those thinking caps on, and come to us with your ideas! Once we have a basic program established, our Local Area Co-ordinators will be in touch to discuss your participation. If you have not registered already, we have extended the deadline to 30 April. If you have any questions about the new format, or youd like to discuss an idea or how you might participate, get in touch with Stacie via email. Stay well, stay home and stay safe, Stacie, Harriet and the Arts Trail team

It has been decided that in order to slow the sp...read of coronavirus and keep our staff safe (the museum shares the facility here with the Torquay Visitor Centre) as of tomorrow morning the museum will be closed to the public for a short while. We are so sorry, if you were planning on visiting soon, that you wont be able to visit the museum in person, thats the bad news. The good news is we will still be here, diving into the archives and searching our vault to keep telling epic stories of Australian surfing. We have got a new website coming soon, our youtube channel SurfworldTV, the searchable collection and other goodies at Googles "Great Sporting Land" to help keep you entertained and informed and of course we will still be posting here regularly. Stay tuned, keep groovy and stay safe folks! See more
