This is the final in our 3 studies on Gideon who we find is a somewhat different character from the one we may have encountered in Sunday School. In the first week, we saw his call and establishment as a Judge. Then we looked at the battle with the Midianites; and now finally we will look at the conclusion of Gideon, and what happens with Abimelek and his other sons. 17.01.2022 I celebrate that my friend and mentor, Pastor Martin Freund has gone to be with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! I am sad for his family and the rest of us t...hat he is no longer with us. When we came to the Lutheran Church in Kalgoorlie back in 1994, Martin and his wife, Mary, welcomed us, cared for us and gently introduced us to the Lutheran way of doing things. In 2013, Martin and Mary returned to Kalgoorlie for my ordination as a Lutheran Pastor. The photo below shows my son Luke (who is now studying to be a Lutheran Pastor) assisting him. Praise the Lord for His work through His servants, such as Martin!

14.01.2022 This Wednesday (9 Sep), we continue our look at the Book of Judges and will be covering Judges 3:7 to 3:31 (Othniel, Ehud & Shamgar) led by Luke (a pastoral student from Australian Lutheran College). This week we shall be looking at the first three Judge cycles; where the people of Israel turn away from God and are punished before turning back to God in repentance, in response, God raises up heroes to save them. We will be focusing on Othniel, the Judge the people expecte...d God to choose and Ehud, the last person the people of Israel expected God to choose. So hopefully you can join us! 05.01.2022 New Bible Study start this Wednesday Night (26 August, 7pm to 8pm Western Australia time): The Book of Judges - God graciously dealing with flawed people. Whilst Judges is known for its Heroes, and often criticised for its violence, when we examine the book as a whole, we will come to see that the only hero in this book is God. We see that the people of God, and their leaders, are flawed just like we are but that our God is a gracious God. However, he is also a Holy God... and we see both aspects of our Father in these chapters. Judges also points forward, not just towards Israel’s need for a king, but our need for THE KING, Jesus! For those who want to dig a bit deeper, we will be strongly influenced by Tim Keller’s fine book, Judges For You https://www.koorong.com//judges-for-you-for-reading-for-fe but be sure to check your local Christian book store.
