15.01.2022 Dear Parishioners, The Coronavirus is certainly affecting our lives in many ways, and after such a prolonged period of relative normality, we find ourselves having to move back to more rigorous measures to keep each other safe. The situation is rapidly evolving, and the announcements from the SA Government today have many implications for us as a Parish Community.... Fundamentally, and effective immediately, we must close the churches once again and suspend all sacramental and other ministries for the time being. Our Parish & Conference Centre Offices are closed till at least November 25th (and this date is tentative, subject to Government regulation). *All parish events, meetings, Masses, and other liturgies between November 18th 25th are cancelled.* After this initial 6-day period, a further 8 days of other restrictions will apply. The Government is continuing to develop what this will look like and we will communicate this information as it becomes available. Thus, all other parish events scheduled to occur after November 24th should be considered tentative until they can be confirmed. Like you, we will have to await further clarification from the SA Government and Archdiocese as to what is possible after November 24th. However, we have already pre-recorded a celebration of the Eucharist for this weekend the last week of our Liturgical Year and the Feast of Jesus Christ our Universal King. This Mass will be uploaded in the next days and we will send you an email on Friday with a LINK for this Eucharist. We will post further resources on our Parish Website and Parish Facebook site as they come to hand. If you know someone who does not have access to the Internet, could you communicate any essential messages and information to them in phone conversations in this time in which we are asked to stay at home. These are challenging times, indeed most of this year has tested us. We have been fortunate in the freedoms we have enjoyed, but now are asked to take up a more disciplined, sedentary and limited lifestyle for the next weeks so that our fellow citizens can all be kept safe. We will not publish a Bulletin this week but hope to do so for the first Sunday of Advent. In the meantime, we will keep in touch through our email system (and ask you to help spread communications by phone to those who depend on you). Like everyone else we will have to be guided by the decrees of Government as to when we will be able to resume various parish activities again. Let us enter this new time with hope and trust. Our soul is waiting for the Lord. The Lord is our help and our shield. In him do our hearts find joy. We trust in his holy name. May your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you. (Psalm 32) May God bless you and keep you safe. Fr Denis cp

05.01.2022 Dear Parishioners, I am writing to inform you of our response in the Parish now that there are new and increased levels of safety measures in place across our State. These have been put in place to make sure all activities and businesses are COVID-safe as well as to restrict the spread of any COVID-19 infection in the community. While the situation may evolve, we know that for at least the next two Sundays there are new requirements affecting our Parish Liturgies. The major s...afety strategy that will affect us is the decreased seating capacity in our two churches now that the occupational requirement is increased to 4 square metres per person. This will mean that St. Raphael’s Church will only accommodate a maximum of 75 people and St. Paul’s Church will only accommodate a maximum of 65 persons. Considering this development, I wanted to put the following options which can apply for the next two weeks (Sunday Nov 22nd & Sunday Nov 29th): 1. I want to remind everyone that there is still no obligation to attend Eucharist on a Sunday. It is entirely acceptable for parishioners who may feel some level of vulnerability due to health issues or any other level of frailty, to pray with the whole parish from their own homes or to follow our Parish Mass over the internet. 2. We intend to ‘live stream’ the 10.30am Sunday Mass as usual and will also pre-record a Sunday Mass celebration and send the LINK to you this Friday. 3. It will be necessary to pre-book to attend a Mass. Please use Eventbrite or phone the Parish Office. Once limits are reached, we will have to close that Mass. If you have previously booked for a Mass, and now do not intend to come, please inform us so that your booking can be cancelled to allow others to attend. 4. To avoid disappointment, some Parishioners may wish to consider attending a Mass on Friday or on a Monday over these next two weeks. For Saturday or Sunday masses, bookings will be necessary, please see the Eventbrite links below which are for the weekends up to end of January 2021. If you know of a Parishioner without internet access, please pass on this information to them. The available Mass times are: Fridays 7.00AM (St. Paul’s) OR 9.30AM (St. Raphael’s) Saturdays 5.30PM (St. Raphael’s) OR 6.00PM (St. Paul’s) Sundays 8.00AM (St. Paul’s) OR 9.30AM (St. Raphael’s) 10.30AM (St. Paul’s) OR 5.00PM (St. Paul’s) Mondays 11.30AM (St. Paul’s) Please be respectful of all directives from our COVID-19 Marshals. They are fellow Parishioners, working according to Government instructions to keep us all safe. A weekly Bulletin with more details will be sent on Friday.
