15.01.2022 dot points Moule cottage 2/2 The Places of Significance Overlay Code seeks to ensure Places of Local Significance are conserved and encourages adaptive reuse ...so that cultural significance is retained; The Code specifies that any proposal to demolish a Place of Local Significance must be supported by a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA), prepared in compliance with Planning Scheme Policy Places of Significance (PSP-PS). The application is supported by an HIA that is non-compliant with the provisions of the PSP PS; The HIA is non-compliant with PSP-PS, Section 2.2 Guidelines for preparing an impact assessment report, Clause (5), (a), (b), (c), in part (d), in part (e), (h), in part (i), (j); The HIA references an out of date PSP-PS, being SC6.13 PSP-PS; The landowner and the heritage consultant rely only on the MCU approval over the site and the cost of upgrading the building to justify demolition. No consideration has been given to the heritage value (or otherwise) of the building or looking at options for adaptive reuse; The Code and the Policy require the consideration of matters other than the cost of upgrading the building to justify demolition, non are provided; Moule cottage must be saved. 08.01.2022 Hello wonderful Freshwater/Stratford Residents I feel very grateful to say I’m your new Councillor. I’m humbled to have the opportunity to serve you all. ... Linda Cooper is an inspiration to me and I know how hard she worked for all of you so I am very aware I have huge shoes to fill. She’s kindly taking the time to ‘handover’ with me through a series of training sessions. She wants to ensure that she’s left you safe hands - that’s how much she cares about this community! But let’s be honest, she’s not going anywhere. Can’t wait to see her achieve her next venture. I’m really looking forward to working for you all, I’m going to work very hard to meet your expectations. I’m a very open and upfront person so if you’re unhappy with anything, I’m open to feedback so please do contact me. I love the saying you don’t know what you don’t know - until you know so having honest feedback from you all is personally very important to me (because I can’t fix what I don’t know about.) Once all these social distancing measures have eased, I will make myself available for you to come and meet with me personally in places around our division. Libraries, cafes and the like. So you’ll always have access to me personally and of course on the phone and via email. I have a Councillor page where you can keep up with what I’m doing. https://m.facebook.com/Kristy-Vallely-Div6-Councillor-Cairns-Regional-Council-107855130714720/?ref=bookmarks Thank you, for your belief in me. I won’t let you down! Please contact me if I can help you in anyway, I haven’t had all of training yet, but will do my best. Ways to get in contact with me: My phone number is: 0407 501 319 My email is: [email protected] My Council Facebook page (please use this one as I may miss your message on my personal fb page as it will go into my others folder, we’ve also had some fairly strict training around how we communicate with residents). https://m.facebook.com/Kristy-Vallely-Div6-Councillor-Cairns-Regional-Council-107855130714720/?ref=bookmarks

07.01.2022 Here are some dot points you may want to consider (1/2) Moule Cottage is one (1) of five (5) sites designated as a Place of Local Significance in Freshwater, ...under CairnsPlan 2016; Two (2) of the five (5) designated sites have been saved from demolition by adaptive reuse, in compliance with the Places of Significance Overly Code; Church to House and Church Hall to House in Vallely Street; Two other designated sites are still being used for their original purpose, the Catholic Church in Duffy Street and the Freshwater Pony Club building. The Places of Significance Overlay Code seeks to ensure Places of Local Significance are conserved and encourages adaptive reuse so that cultural significance is retained; See more

03.01.2022 To all residents interested in our local community and protecting our local heritage, please read on. An application has been made to Council to demolish Moule Cottage, located at 233 Kamerunga Rd, Freshwater. Submissions close on Friday 24 July 2020.... The landowner is required to support demolition with a Heritage Impact Assessment, complying with CRC Planning Scheme Policy - Places of Local Significance. He has not done so, he has supported demolition with a Minor Heritage Impact Statement that provides no heritage assessment. He also states that the building has limit heritage value and, in any event the cost to renovate the building is too high and uneconomic. If you care about our local heritage, please lodge a submission by the due date and dispute the statement that Moule Cottage has no local heritage value and that the cost to renovate alone, is no reason to demolish the building, especially when the site is in a commercial zone (Neighbourhood Centre Zone) that offers lots of opportunities for adaptive reuse and mixed use development to occur on the site with the integration of Moule Cottage as a feature addressing the street frontage. HAVE YOU SAY. Elizabeth Taylor SAFC President.

02.01.2022 SAFCA AGM and monthly meeting Sept 15 2020 7 pm Stratford Hall. Presentation from CRC on Jalarra Park drainage works 7.30 pm; discussion on Moule cottage and more. See you there!
