24.01.2022 Just confirming - we are good to go :)

24.01.2022 A FEW FROM STRATH TODAY

24.01.2022 With recent announcements from the SA State Premier’s Office to immediately suspend outdoor sporting activities, the SSJC Committee has for now postponed our scheduled Sue Brandon-Brown Memorial Show, for this weekend. We will be issuing refunds as soon as details are finalised, as these restrictions will be in place for a minimum of 2 weeks. Thankyou for your understanding and we hope we can schedule future jumping days ASAP. Stay safe everyone.

23.01.2022 SUE BRANDON-BROWN Memorial Trophy 80cm 1st KEIRA PARK CAVALIER - Sophia Craddock

22.01.2022 Today a club stalwart passed away. John Wilsher was the man who had a vision of horses jumping in the centre of the Mt Gambier velodrome. This vision was the bi...rth of MGSJC and the Easter Showjumping Festival which has been a favourite on the calendar for many over the last 38 years. John’s vision then grew to a dedicated Junior & Young Rider Carnival, a freshman’s arena with an amazing surface, monthly freshman’s days, an awesome Australian Championships in 2004 and one of his last ideas before retiring from the club was ‘Mini Easter’ which we are running this weekend for our grass roots club members. The club would not be in the position we are in today without the countless hours John spent building our 2 fantastic sets of jumps, setting up the judges boxes and course building all our competitions. John had an incredible passion for the sport and course built everywhere from the little local show in a sheep paddock to internationally. Condolences to Rose and family. Rest in peace John. You will not be forgotten. We will take a moment to remember John tomorrow and would like everyone to make their way on to the arena between the 50cm & the 60cm. Thank you

Don't forget we have Oskar & Co food van coming to feed everyone!! But unfortunately our coffee man can't make it so it'll be BYO coffee!!

04.01.2022 Sadly, at 2:45pm today, my Mother, mentor and great friend, Di Schaeffer passed away. Dad, my brother, Tony and I gave our final farewells in the ICU at the Roy...al Adelaide Hospital, supporting her to the very end. All Doctors and ICU nurses were fantastic but despite their best efforts, the speed with which she received treatment and Mum’s legendary fighting spirit she was not able to overcome the huge amount of damage caused by a massive heart attack sustained on Christmas night. ***UPDATE*** A celebration of Di’s life will be held at Sunburst Equestrian Centre, Darby Road, Echunga at 10:30am, Wednesday January 13 2021. Due to the COVID-19 capacity limit of 200 people, those wishing to attend must register with the Celebrant at: [email protected] by Saturday, January 9, 2021. 02.01.2022 Results for the feature class today. SUE BRANDON-BROWN Memorial Trophy 80cm 1st KEIRA PARK CAVALIER - Sophia Craddock 2nd Tik of Approval - Jan Macpherson... 3rd Cambi - Kristy Green 4th K L Columbus - Kristy Green 5th Riverside Num Num - Trudy Day 6th Woody Danni Hampton SUE BRANDON-BROWN A girl from Newcastle with a love of horses, made South Australia her home. On having a daughter who inherited her passion for all things equestrian, Sue threw herself into the support of our horse community, beginning with Golden Spur Pony Club when Chelsea was 10 years old. From here on she served tirelessly on both the Strathalbyn and the South Australian Show Jumping Club’s committees for many years. She held the position of Vice President here at SSJC, and ran the canteen with amazing dedication and efficiency. There would not be a showjumping rider in the Fleurieu Peninsula or the Adelaide Hills who would not know her lovely smiling face, as she dealt with all comers beautifully, with her natural warmth and hospitality. There are so many unsung heroes in our sport behind the sceneswithout them there would be no well run events or prepared competitors. Sue was one of those amazing people, who we are proud to honour. A modest, but very strong woman, taken sadly far too early and very much missed.
