25.01.2022 Visit of His Royal Highness, The Duke of York On Wednesday, 21 November, His Royal Highness, the Duke of York, visited Strathmore Secondary College and the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC). As a member of the Royal Family, he focuses on three areas: education and skills, entrepreneurship and science, technology and engineering. He believes in encouraging young people to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) subjects and is the... patron of Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA), a program that helps to develop digital, enterprise and employability skills. After completing a series of online challenges and events, participants are able to win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry-recognised awards that are effective in making them stand out from the crowd. iDEA is open to anyone who wants to develop these skills. 25.01.2022 A big shout out to all the students returning to school today. I am particularly excited for all the students at Strathmore Secondary College- this is the year that we start to rebuild your good school into a great school!

22.01.2022 The Duke of York has visited the Victoria Science Education Centre (VSSEC), at Strathmore Secondary College, in Australia. VSSEC uses the context of space to en...gage teachers and students in science, technology, engineering and maths and offers a range of hands-on programmes. HRH was able to visit the facilities, including Mars Rock, which reproduces a small crater on Mars encased in an inflatable dome where students can work in a simulated Mission Control centre as astronauts. The Duke also saw Mission Control, a computer room which students can monitor astronauts (the other students) completing their mission on the simulated surface of Mars and the Space Laboratory HRH then presented Bronze and Silver iDEA awards to a number of students from the college. The Duke is also holding #pitchatpalace events whilst in Australia, including yesterday’s event in Melbourne held in Government House. Follow The Duke of York for more. See more

21.01.2022 How good is this! Today’s State Budget has delivered a huge funding boost for the second stage of the redevelopment of Strathmore Secondary College. This commi...tment builds on the $13.8 million announced in last year’s budget. I am so pleased that we are getting on with the job of delivering the Education State in Strathmore!

21.01.2022 Nice to hear from former students... I thought I would share this photo of myself and Rachael Moloney. We are both ex-strathmore students who graduated from the school in 2012. We were also both in the Dunlop house, so we became good friends. Today we graduated as qualified paramedics with Ambulance Victoria. Amanda Lazzari

Following advice from the Department of Education and Training we will be moving to remote and flexible learning from Term 2, to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). The Department’s latest advice on ...coronavirus can be found at https://www.education.vic.gov.au/coronavirus It is important that we work together and support each other during this challenging time. We will be in touch with staff and parents and carers shortly with further details of what remote and flexible learning will look like at our school. In the meantime, you might find it useful to look at the Department’s Learning from Home website. 03.01.2022 Artist in Residence Mural Eva from Ceramica Mechanica visited our Artist in Residence class early in term one to collaborate with the students on the new mural that’s being painted under Pascoe Vale Rd bridge. Eva and her team wanted input from a variety of different groups in the local community as to what sort of public art they would like to see in Strathmore. Our students spoke a lot about the natural environment, and their love of the local greenery and public spaces. Th...e also spoke about a concern for the future, and what these spaces might look like in 20 or 50 years if the environment isn’t protected from waste and pollution. These ideas are reflected in the mural, as it explores what Strathmore might look like in the future. Eva has been visiting our Artist in Residence class every Monday and working with the students on a number of different projects. Watch this space for another update.

02.01.2022 Return to On-site Schooling Following advice from the Victorian Government on Tuesday 12 May, some students will be returning to school from Tuesday 26 May. The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that it is safe for students and teachers to return in a two-staged approach:... Stage 2 from Tuesday 9 June: Year 7 to 10 students will return to on-site schooling, subject to health advice. It is important that we work together and support each other during this challenging time. We will be in touch with staff and parents shortly with more details.
