25.01.2022 Woo hoo I have taken until Monday night off! After working night after night with our homeless friends getting one of a local housed and checking their well being and fighting to fill the gaps when food services dont arrive (hello $200 in pizzas for Thursday night dinner, my husband is not going to be happy when he checks his bank account ) I have managed to get 13 rough sleepers.. yes 13 into the 30 day government assisted hotel accommodation. Plus 1 into private beca...use of an amazing community. Im not one to gloat but yeah! Yes its late and there is so much more to say, but I dont have to get up early this morning and loving every second that the fam is in bed and I dont have to talk to someone .. Have a happy Easter everyone . I am.. 13 people accommodated and safe from sleeping rough on the streets. For today.. many more to come.. sometimes we celebrate the little wins Stay safe everyone. 25.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I haven’t posted on here or StreetPets - Paws for the Homeless for a week or so now. Please trust that the teams are out doing what they do best. I have been having some time off due to the passing of my mother in law on Monday that I have lived with and cared for for a long time now. I will be back in the next week or so, but rest assured our street friends and their fur babies are still being cared for. Cheers Chris

25.01.2022 BINDI UPDATE Today I contacted an organization called Arthur & Co. Pet Concierge who are fantastic pet detectives and they are on the case! Lea Guider amd myself also took to the streets for around 3 hours this afternoon door knocking and accosting dog owners in the Parramatta area with photos of Bindi with no success. Tomorrow we will spend the afternoon putting up lost dog photos.. fingers crossed . Tanya from Belmonte's Italian Cuisine also purchased a new mobile for her owner as his was stolen in the attack and I delivered that to him this afternoon. You are all just incredible people. Our patrons adore you and so do I. To our followers and supporters, 6 years for a NFP unfunded charity is a huge milestone and we could not of done this without each and everyone of you. Unfortunately the Thursday night StreetMed volunteers were unavailable tonight so a HUGE thank you to Burgo from Knights M.C Australia Inc. for stepping in and for Lei and Lea from Silent Few for dropping everything and helping me out. I started off today with a call for assistance which resulted in a homeless gentlemen securing temporary accommodation and finished tonight in Parramatta Mall being cornered by my stalker . A huge thank you to Greencross Vets for coming to the assistance of a patrons dog who was attacked. Your whole team is amazing. 20.01.2022 Id like to say we beat the rain tonight for our food service in Parramatta... but Id be lying! It was cold and wet but our champion volunteers and patrons braved through it to deliver beautiful hot meals from Belmonte Italian Cuisine. The patrons loved the Chicken Parmi and Veggies, hot garlic bread and cupcakes. All the volunteers and myself are now home and defrosting! 19.01.2022 I think Adam and I are finally getting this snack bag down to a fine art! 40 packs done for tonight with lots of goodies inside. We made jelly last night for our street friends and had wonderful donations of rolls, homemade slices and chocolate crackles.. all added to tonights packs. Over 80 meals were given out by Stepping Stones, I got to catch up with my buddy Gizmo, but the highlight was having to contact the police for a gentleman who decided rain and gale force winds was a great excuse to go skinny dipping in the river outside the Riverside Theatre (and no I didnt take the photo!), as I asked, was it a full moon tonight? 13.01.2022 BINDI UPDATE SHE HAS BEEN FOUND AND IS HOME WHERE SHE BELONGS! Thank you to everyone who shared, searched and shouted looking for her. She was picked up by a concerned person who didn’t want to take her to the pound due to $$$ in release fees. Through a friend of a friend who saw her they contacted her owner and she’s now safe and getting hugs galore. What an awesome outcome! 12.01.2022 Hi Everyone, as you know during this pandemic I have been out on the streets not only feeding, but also providing our valuable street level assistance. This unfortunately doesnt come cheap and as the financial year fast approaches Im putting a call out for much needed funds. Money donated by tomorrow night gives you an immediate tax deduction as we have our DGR status and anything over $2 is tax deductible. #winning. Please if you can help any $$$ will help us provide our continuous street care service especially as we head into a super cold winter.. The Hills Shire Australia Day Award winners announced A dedicated volunteer ensuring the most vulnerable in the community aren’t left behind has been honoured at this year’s Hills Shire Australia Day Awards.... The winners were formally announced during a COVID-19 safe ceremony at the Pioneer Theatre on Wednesday, January 20. Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, said the special occasion provided the opportunity to honour the commitment and achievements of outstanding individuals in The Hills ahead of Australia Day. Our Australia Day Awards are about acknowledging our local residents who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and have made a positive contribution to the lives of others without asking for anything in return, Mayor Byrne said. Their meaningful and generous work helps make our region even more vibrant, connected and inclusive. I congratulate and thank all our Australia Day Award winners and finalists for everything they do to make The Hills such a great place to live, Mayor Byrne added. Chris Cleary, who runs the StreetMed charity, and James Brice, the musical director and conductor of Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Orchestra and North West Wind Ensemble, were both named as the 2021 Citizens of the Year. Chris ramped up her services with StreetMed - a not-for-profit that provides first aid, medical check-ups and mental health support for those living it rough on the streets - to ensure the most vulnerable and their pets could access food and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
