24.01.2022 Great information for carers and parents of disabled children. Stage 4 lockdowns might be in place but there are exceptions for children with disabilities. Copied from the ACD website: "We have been following up a number of options for families with children with disability and we are pleased to confirm the following options:... 1. Families can have relatives or a friend come to their home to assist with the care of a child with disability. This includes travelling more than 5km and during the curfew. (This is under Leaving premises for care and other compassionate reasons - Version 9) 2. Families can take a child with complex behaviour support needs for a drive to escape harm, including harm to themselves. This includes travelling more than 5km and during the curfew. They need to carry evidence of their child’s behaviour support needs. (This is under Leaving premises for care and other compassionate reasons - Version 9) 3. Support Workers can provide in-home support, including assisting with learning from home. The NDIS have produced a guide for school aged participants in Victoria. 4. Families with children with disability who are experiencing severe stress can apply to attend school see attached attendance form. 5. Families with children with disability who are experiencing vulnerability, which may include students eligible for KISS or Commonwealth Inclusion Support, can apply to attend their early childhood service see attached attendance form.
