25.01.2022 Its true ... its one of the reason fascial stretch therapy is so effective! @stretchtowin

25.01.2022 WHY ARE MY GLUTES TIGHT??!!! . . .... Our glutes can be tight for a variety of reasons: 1. Lack of stretching. 2. Prolonged periods of sitting ( we are all guilty of this one). 3. Inactivity. 4. Overuse in general daily exercise routines. 5. Overexertion in athletic performance. 6. Imbalances in the structural function of surrounding muscles and tissue. This is also a big one- a lot of us have weak inactive glutes and to create strength and stability they tighten up! . . . Comment below if you think this could you be you?

24.01.2022 Who needs a little if this for the midweek ?

24.01.2022 Our first client for the week is Lee Jordon. He saw Dave after trying many different specialists for his back pain with no relief. . . . His main issues were lower back pain and a loss of power in his right leg when cycling. ... Lees job requires him to repeatedly kneel in a split lunge position with the same leg forward (right) . . . Body/postural read: Anterior shift causing the posterior chain to be loaded. Right rotation in the pelvis. . . . Main focus for session: General mobility around hips with fascial stretch therapy. . . . Addressed this in session 1. Result :100km ride on that weekend and no loss of power. . . . At Stretched Perth we increase overall mobility, but also look specifically at the underlying patterns that are causing certain areas of the body to be continually loaded from long term compensations. Our goal is to get people more flexible, but also change these patterns so the body deals better with gravity day to day. . . . swipe across to see the results and what he has to say. See more

23.01.2022 Flashback Tuesday from an old post in March last year . . . Glute stretching - Part 1. A super simple stretch for the glutes and lower back (Functional Back Line) with a couple of variations to get more range.... This is the most common stretch I give to clients initially to help unwind the superficial muscles of the glutes and lumbar fascia. Key points 1Start with a comfortable stretch, around 3/10 intensity and breathe slowly 2Hold for 2-3 minutes to give time for the lumbar fascia to start to release 3Push the leg up into your hand for 15 seconds working to a strong push 5Try and bring your own leg back towards the floor but start easy as this can be very challenging initially 5Come back into the initial stretch then repeat. To stretch the hamstring, bend and straighten your knee 6Check both sides and stretch the lesser range side more often to bring the hips into balance. . . . Part 2 coming soon. . . . SAVE this post to try later and TAG with mate who might need this.

17.01.2022 This is an old post which we have put up a couple of times, but its worth sharing as it relates to this weeks theme of sciatica. . . This pic was take last July 2019 by Dave, owner of @stretchedperth and senior therapist. Here is what he had to say:... . . . Symptom vs the cause. My client this morning has been suffering with sciatica for many years. Rather than only treating the common entrapment site at the piriformis and hamstring, which wasn't working, I looked at improving where her centre of gravity was. In the photo on the left (at beginning of session) everything is shifted forward, putting load constantly through the toes, calves, hamstrings and back extensors. Her pelvis also was rotated to the right, which was the side of pain however the left hip rotators were causing this imbalance. . . . I wanted to share this to highlight that sciatica is complex as to how and why it originates and is unique to each client/case. @ Perth, Western Australia

Having a medical condition that causes pain in different parts of my body due to muscle spasticity, I have tried quite a few treatment options over the years. This is honestly the best treatment i have ever received in relieving my pain levels. Kelly , 29 July 2020 Therapist - Sayshie

10.01.2022 This week is all about what our amazing clients have to say about what we do and their experiences.

10.01.2022 Fascial stretch therapy is the complete opposite to traditional stretching. In traditional stretching, the muscle is lengthened until a stretch is felt and often pushed to end range or sometimes even past. This approach can often cause overstretching and can be quite painful as the body goes into protection mode and lays microscopic scar tissue throughout the muscle which then decreases your flexibility! Fascia stretching using gentle rhythmic movement never pushing to end ...range to restore movement, hydration and ease back into the connective tissue. Artist: @snakehipsmusic Song: All my friends

09.01.2022 We are taking a break over the festive season to recharge and reset ready for 2021.

07.01.2022 If your hip has limited internal and/or external rotation. That will potentially impact your hip extension which means the glutes could get disconnected and super tight. Our hips are meant to be able to rotate. It is a ball a socket joint. When we loose the ability to move our hips joint into rotation it affects all other movement associated with the hips and the surrounding structures.

01.01.2022 CHIROPRACTIC. . . . For those who don’t know what a Chiropractor does here is a basic breakdown:... Traditionally, skeletal and joint issues are what chiros have expertise in. This frequently involves back, and neck issues and many people have an image of someone laying down and having a Chiropractor crack their back. What chiropractors actually do is deal with pressures, tensions, and misalignments of the spine, nervous system and more and use various hands-on methods for achieving that. . . . Here are some of the amazing Chiro’s we work with and highly recommend. They all take a holistic approach to working with the human body. @openspacehealing @drcarrierigoni @freochiro

01.01.2022 Stretching Tip Number 1 . . . . WORK WITH YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM. When you are constantly taking your stretching into stressful, painful ranges, where your breathing is short/labored or maybe your forgetting to breathe? If so, you are signalling to your nervous system that you are not safe and so fight or flight reactions can occur. The stretch wont ease... it feels worse the next day... tighter than it was before? All these signs mean you could have pushed past your nervous... system. . . . HOW TO WORK WITH YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM. Simply tuning in to how your body responds to a stretch is a great start. Is it painful? Are you breathing? Your BREATH will tell you ALOT! If you hold your breath or it quickens you could be trying to push too much. Slow down. Breathe deeply and fully and let that guide your stretch to its range. Give it a go and see how that stretch begins to melt. See more
