22.01.2022 10 players contested a Stableford today and the winner was decided by a count-back:: 1st was K Baldwin (14) with 36 points 2nd was B Jones (16) 3rd was a draw between M Peacock (12) and G Freeman (27) with 33 points... Nearest the pins were won by K Baldwin and M Peacock Next week is a PAR event: On each hole only one of three things can happen (after allowing for your handicap). You par the hole and record a ‘0' You bogey (or worse) and record a '-1’ You birdie (or better) and record a '+1’ At the end of the round, pluses and minuses are reconciled (a minus cancels out a plus). If a player finishes with two pluses, they are 'two up' or 'plus two' (+2). The opposite applies if they finish with two minuses 'two down'; 'minus 2'; '2’ Hope to see you all there after my three missed weeks. Warwick

21.01.2022 We had a field of just 7 today and the wind made it fun! The event was a Stableford and the winner was: N O’Neill (16) with 32 points... Equal second were J Vella (23) and J Nicholas (19) with 30 points Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was J Greenham And with 2nd shot to the 5th / 14th was W Matthews Next Sunday is the final round of the Club Championships. The VW Scramble that was to have been played yesterday has been postponed to SUNDAY 11th October so please make up a team of 4 and come along. Anyone with a registered handicap can play. 19.01.2022 Today was the July Monthly Medal and 13 players took part. The winner was R Blunt (22) with a Net 71 Second was J Saxby (10) 73 Third was T O’Mara (31) 74... Nearest the pin was P Callaghan and with second shot was K Baldwin. One Matchplay was also decided with J Greenham defeating R Bowden 2&1. Well done everyone. Warwick

16.01.2022 A reminder that next Sunday is the Gold Cup (for those that won a monthly medal during the year) but of course anyone can play. The more the merrier for the last Sunday before Christmas. Today was the Club's Christmas lunch and thanks go to Jim and Rob for arranging the food. A Par 3 course was set up by Nigel and Rob and was well received.... The winner, on count-back was: C Edwards (23) with 41 points 2nd was T Omara 3rd was N O’Neill (15) and R Blunt (22) Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was J Saxby and on the 5th / 14th was B Jones. CONGRATULATIONS A presentation was made to Jim Greenham for his service as Club President but also for the amount of work he has put in throughout the year. 15.01.2022 Today was the final round of the club Championships, played in a howling wind. The winner of the day was J Vella (23) with a Net 74 J Saxby (10) was runner up with 76 Next was B Jones (16) with 81... Nearest the pin and nearest with 2nd shot were both won by J Vella. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Overall winner (and 'A' Grade winner) was J Saxby with a Gross 353 ‘B’ Grade Gross winner was R Bowden with 363 ‘B’ Grade Net winner was B Jones on 313 ’C’ Grade Gross winner was R Blunt with 400 ‘C’ Grade Net winner was a tie between J Vella and J Greenham with 317 (it has been decided that they will play off over 18 holes). 14.01.2022 We had 15 players today for a Stroke event, the first round of the Club Championship. Today's Overall Winner was R Bowden (14) with 82 shots, net 68 Second was R Blunt (22) with 73 Third was B Jones (15) with net 74... Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was B Jones and with his second shot to the 1st / 11th was R Kedwell. One Matchplay was decided today with A Peacock winning against K Baldwin, 1 UP... It was actually 4 & 3 but Ken asked me to make it sound better. Please note: the remaining Club Championships dates are as follows :- 2nd round - 12/7 3rd round- 26/7 Last round - 9/8 Next week is the July Monthly Medal

14.01.2022 Eleven players today for a stable ford event and the winner was: R Blunt (23) with 39 points 2nd with 32 points was P Bowen (34) Equal third with 30 points were R Bowden and A Peacock... A Peacock also won his matchplay 5 and 4 against someone who shall remain nameless. mostly because I played crap golf today. Nearest the pin was P Bowen for the second week running on 8th / 17th. Nearest the pin 2nd shot on 5th / 14th was R Blunt. Well done everyone.

And the winner was: J Greenham (22) with a net 66... 2nd was J Vella (22) with 72 3rd was P White (32) with 74 Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was not won. 11.01.2022 We had six platers today for a Stableford. Not sure why the low numbers as it was a glorious day for golf. The winner was: W Matthews (17) with 35 points. 2nd was R Bowden (13 ) with 33... 3rd was J Nicholas (20) with 31 Nearest the pin 2nd shot on 2nd / 11th was W Matthews and on the 8th / 17th was W Matthews Don’t forget that next Sunday is the Open Day with breakfast from 7 and tee off from 8am. Breakfast and Lunch are provided.

10.01.2022 THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE GOLF CLUB THIS THURSDAY 16th July at 6pm. We need your help in preparing the course for the VW Scramble (15th August) and the Club Open Day (Sunday 13th September). Today was the second round of the Club Championships and we had a great turnout with 17 players.... The winner today (on a count-back) was T O’Mara (31) with 73 Second was M Peacock (12) Third was R Bowden (14) with 74 Both nearest the pins were won by A Peacock And in the only matchplay decided today T O’Mara was victorious over P Bowen 6 up with 5 to play. I will send a seperate email covering the details but Stroud Golf Club will be hosting a VW Scramble on Saturday 15th August 2020. So we are looking for teams for the 4 person Ambrose event but we will also be, looking for help on the course in the weeks between now and then such as whipper-snipping around all tees and the sides of dams, marker [posts, replenishing sand etc. Also general mowing of the rough. 10.01.2022 We had a total of 14 players today including one playing for a handicap. The winner was: J Melmeth (34) with a Net 64... 2nd and 3rd, both with Net 67 were N O’Neill (16) and R Jones (16). Winner of the putting competition was N O’Neill with 28. Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was P White and on the 2nd / 11th was M Mullaney. 08.01.2022 I was away last weekend so here are the results: 2nd August - August Monthy Medal The winner was P Bowen (34) with Net 65... 2nd was R Bowden (15) 69 3rd was J Vella (23) 70 The putting competition was won by J Nicholas with 26. Nearest the pin pin 8th / 17th was M Corrigan who also took home the jackpot of $110.00 for being within a metre. 07.01.2022 Stroud Open - Sunday 22nd November 2020 - Results This event was generously sponsored by TOOHEYS Breakfast was prepared by Janet Greenham, Kim Osborne and Chris Matthews and we thank them very much for making such an early start.... Lunch was provided by Three Birdies restaurant located within Stroud Country Club and the food gained many favourable comments. A field of 48 contested the Stroud Open yesterday. They were met with a beautifully presented course thanks to a number of volunteers who did a lot of work....thank you all. AND THE RESULTS WERE........ Overall Gross Winner was J. O’Neill (12) with 75 Gross Overall Nett Winner was J. Nicholas (20) with 65 Nett A Grade Gross Winner M. Cuff (0) with 78 Gross Runner-up was J. Udbinac (+2) with 78 Nett Winner was D. The putting competition was won by Peacock with 27 Nearest the pin on the 8th / 17th was N O’Neill Nearest the pin open 9th / 18th was W Matthews Next Sunday 13th December is a 7.30 tee off for a par 3 competition (Nigel is going to reconfigure there course). This will be followed by lunch and it would be helpful if you could indicate if you will be attending. 05.01.2022 Yesterday Stroud Country Club hosted the VW Scramble with 52 players contesting for $1700.00 in prizes provided by the Australian Professional Golf Associationand a cash sponsorship,from Hunter Volkswagen. An excellent lunch was provided by Three Birdies Restaurant and a great day was had by all. The winner, by count-back, was: R Bowden (14) with 37 points 2nd was K Baldwin (15)... 3rd was B Cribbin (15) with 34 points Nearest the pin on 8th / 17th was B Cribbin and on the 2nd / 11th was B Jones Sunday 6th September (HAPPY FATHERS DAY) was also Monthly Medal day and the winner from a field of 7 was: P Williams (34) with a Net 68 2nd was J Greenham (22) with 71 3rd was a tie between J Nicholas (20) and K Baldwin (15) with 77 Nearest the pins were won by K Baldwin and R Bowden The putting competition was won by J Greenham with 30 Well done everyone.
