18.01.2022 Bakewell Primary School has had a huge week celebrating NAIDOC week. As a part of the celebrations our students took part in a range of activities throughout t...he week. A special thank you to Larrakia Nation Nicole Brown, Dingo Cockatoo Aboriginal Culture Dale Austin and Our Culture, Our Country, Our Knowledge Leslie Gordon for contributing their time and wonderful knowledge to our school and helped us celebrate NAIDOC week. Well Done to Jagger, Ethan and Caleb for providing a wonderful 'Acknowledgment to Country' and sound of the didgeridoo at today’s assembly. Throughout the week SVPC student coordinated a colour in competition for NAIDOC week with Early Child Hood Winner Amelia in 1French and Primary Nicki in 3Moore. Well done to all our students that entered.



17.01.2022 SVPC Student Summit 2020: today 100 students from 11 Palmerston and Rural schools attend the summit to celebrate our collaborative initiative- raising money for Starlight Children’s Foundation. $3904.60 was presented to Starlight, along with texta/pencils for the local hospital and messages/cards for the children. A fantastic collaborative effort! Students spent the day learning Media Arts skills and created media clips to share with their school communities.

14.01.2022 Student leaders at Driver Primary School were coming up with tips and acts of kindness this week. NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) are collecting ideas from the community to share for the NT ACTS OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE to be launched during National Child Protection Week. 12.01.2022 Students across Palmerston have used the Student Voice Positive Choice program to fundraise nearly $4000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia. The ...initiative supports students in the region to out their heads together and make a real difference in their community. Starlight was chosen by vote, with each school contributing fundraising ideas to help the foundation. Congratulations to all students and staff, your efforts will make a real difference for some really special kids!

10.01.2022 Student representatives from Palmerston schools came together today to begin collaboration with Sara Storer to create a theme song that represents Student Voice Positive Choice. There was so much talent in the room. We look forward to watching this project develop.

07.01.2022 City of Palmerston has been collaborating with Palmerston college students to develop a Palmerston youth info map to support connections with spaces and service...s based in Palmerston for young people. This project will see the council achieve goal 3 of the Palmerston youth action plan. 07.01.2022 Student leaders at Driver Primary School run a Choice Shots lunchtime activity with middle primary students each fortnight. Students work as a team to score points, making ‘choices’ on the risks they take within the game to contribute effectively to their team. Prize packs are earnt by cheering for team mates and supporting each other... and it’s lots of fun!

04.01.2022 Tomorrow is a free dress day for students for R U OK Day. We are encouraging all students and staff to wear yellow and join in with the activities that have been planned.

03.01.2022 This morning our House Captain's met with house teams to discuss what students would like them to organise and run during recess and lunch breaks. There were so...me great ideas shared through student voice that included team games, skill development activities in a range of sports, art and craft activities, discos and more. Our House Captain's will collate and analyse the feedback over the next week and begin implementing some of these fun activities. See more

02.01.2022 What a great day today at the Palmerston Young Writer’s Festival 2020. We received over 350 entries into the competition this year and all winners and encouragement awardees were fortunate enough to participate in a day of writing workshops with authors Sandra Parker and Sandra Kendell. This event provides a forum to share positive voice in our community and acknowledge literary achievements in Palmerston students. Thank you to our sponsors for making this possible. A shout out to Olivia from Durack, a budding author who won the Year 3-4 short story category and spent some time with the NT News after the event. Look out for a segment in next Tuesday’s paper. Congratulations to all of our entrants!

02.01.2022 Earlier this term, Bakewell Student Voice Positive Choice student representatives helped to co-ordinate Bakewell’s annual Coin Trail fundraiser. Each year Bakewell donates a portion of the money raised to a charity or organization of student choice. At the beginning of 2020 the Bakewell SVPC students chose the RSPCA to support as part of their Local Initiative. On Friday, SVPC students welcomed RSPCA’s General Manager, Peter King, Fundraising Manager, Jodie Doyle and their furry friend Dimmy to the school assembly where student reps presented the RSPCA with a giant cheque for $328.50. Thank you to all families who contributed to the event, and to the RSPCA for their visit.

01.01.2022 SVPC student representatives participated in part-two of our song collaboration today. Our strong melody filled the room as we added, deleted, moved and changed words to finalise our lyrics. Watch this space as we work on the next steps to bring our ‘theme song’ together -A massive shout out to Sara Storer who is giving up her time to support this initiative
