16.01.2022 Pretty excited about the mail today! The official confirmation from the VEC that I have been elected unopposed. For those eligible to vote in the Collier... Ward, you should have received this confirmation that I will be your Knox City Council representative for the next four years and you are not required vote. If you need to vote in one of the eight other wards in Knox you should have received your Ballot pack already, or if you haven't yet, should do so in the next couple of days. If you don’t receive it by th please call the Knox Election office to request a replacement on (03) 8619 1436. #LG2020

16.01.2022 Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead Something ext...raordinary has occurred in Knox. The people of Knox, right across the municipality have put their faith in women to lead our city for the next four years, sending a clear message re the desire for independent, community minded, collaborative leadership. Out of the 8 Wards contested at these elections, 7 were won by women. This is an amazing outcome as there was no political agenda of gender equality or feminism underpinning the interest by female candidates running in Knox, it was completely organic with active community minded women just wanting to make change, happening at grass roots across every Ward. It mirrors a growing confidence at State level in female Premiers and internationally with female Prime Ministers. Congratulations to - Meagan Baker - Dobson Ward Susan Laukens - Friberg Ward Yvonne Allred - Baird Ward Jude Dwight - Chandler Ward Sorina Grasso - Dinsdale Ward Darren Pearce - Taylor Ward [re-elected] Lisa Cooper - Scott Ward [re-elected] [Note: Marcia Timmers-Leitch was reelected uncontested in Collier] I am not aware of any other municipality that has 8 out of 9 of its elected representatives female. To Adam / Jake (both retiring in 2020) and Peter / Tony / John (unsuccessful in 2020 election), thank you for your contributions to Knox over many years. We have accomplished a lot, and there is much to be proud of. To all the unsuccessful candidates, thank you for having a go. It is a big deal to run for Council and is so important to the democratic process of offering choice to voters. I hope you stay engaged in local government, actively participating in civic life through local volunteering opportunities or participation in Council engagement processes / committees. Finally, thank you once again to all who have supported me throughout my time on Council. It has been an absolute privilege representing the Tirhatuan Ward and Knox more broadly. I am also incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead Knox through one of its most challenging periods ever as Mayor. It has been a very humbling experience and one I have relished with passion, determination and integrity. I look forward to serving my community with this new team of Councillors and am really excited what the future may look like for Knox. #Note: We are still waiting for final VEC official confirmation
