25.01.2022 Congratulations to represented artist Andrea Sinclair, finalist in the 2020 @rawartprize - Professional Artist Section. Andreas work Great catch is a compelling work, oil on board. About Andrea Sinclair: ... It is not nostalgia that intrigues me, but the passage of time and the retrieval of its memory. I am interested in how painting might explore memory and do more than simply become a copy of a moment from forgotten or discarded vintage photographs and 8mm film. I aim to give an energy and a strange presence to these images by letting paint have the authority to bring them to life and discover how paint might honour these moments to bring a shiver of shared memory to the viewer. I continue to seek out images which might open an ephemeral portal to their own internal past, memories that are not my own. In 2020, Sinclair was a finalist in the inaugural Darling Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. In 2019, Sinclair won Best Gippsland Work in the John Leslie Art Prize at the Gippsland Art Gallery. In 2014, Sinclair was announced as a finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize - one of Australia's most lauded portrait prizes. She was a semi finalist again in 2015. Sinclair has been a finalist in the Nillumbik Prize held at Montsalvat (Eltham) three times, had three solo exhibitions as well as participating in a number of group exhibitions. Andrea Sinclair completed her Master of Fine Art at RMIT University in Melbourne in 2018 |

24.01.2022 Rosie Gilligan - See our website for available works About Rosie Rosie Gilligan (British, b. 1988) is a self-taught Contemporary artist based in Melbourne, who paints flat, abstracted works on canvas, exploring themes of leisure and domesticity.... She began developing her portfolio of work in London whilst balancing a successful career in creative advertising; finding inspiration in the chaos of modern-day existence. Her still life paintings are characterised by simplified form, shallow depth of field and a playful manipulation of scale. Now a full-time artist, Rosie paints primarily with acrylic on canvas, with a smooth, layered application that strips back visual complexities into level tones and lines. Her flattened and brightly coloured compositions display the influence of artists such as David Hockney, Henri Matisse and Guy Yanai. Her work has featured in group exhibitions and art fairs in both Miami and London and has sold internationally via online curations and platforms.

22.01.2022 Extremely excited to welcome renown Australian Expressionist Catherine Cassidy to our Artist Stable. About Catherine: Im looking for something unknown yet familiar, resonators and signifiers of... landscape. I like taking one particular form and investing it with qualities that may seem to belong to something else. For instance, trees that resemble clouds or organic forms that could be plants or yet again something heraldic as though they are imbued with some ImageImagechangeling quality. I like bringing them into being and charging them with the possibility that they could lead ambiguous lives. I dance all the time between these states of wholeness and fracture, reassembling and invention. I may start with the intention of the image of a tree but along the way the painting could suggest that it becomes a sky or some piece of dried-up river pond I saw ages ago. All things feel related to me. Sometimes in character, always in their inner life. A tree has an inner life peculiar to it, so does a cycad. Yet there is another presence within living and inanimate things which they all share. This is at the heart of the Japanese concept of mono no aware, ...translated as, the pathos of things, an empathy towards things, a sensitivity to ephemera. Bill Henson in his essay Credo ( The Monthly 2009), asks, How can there be so much compassion and so much detachment in great art?.... where the rocks and flowers of the world, though they are beyond the tide of emotion, nonetheless have being. Running alongside this is a general feeling of contrariness. Im not sure as artists that we have necessarily been served very well by the logic of sight that has guided the western art response since the Greeks invented it. The invention of perspective - foreground, middle ground, background, the elevation of plein-air observation and description, the emphasis on drawing skills and learnt technique. These things are quantifiable and can therefore be taught and I think they have over-ridden our inherent, intuitive, connective, natural response to image-making.. To me, all these things corrupt and distort what painting really asked us for all along - to respect its own logic. @ Studio Gallery Group See more

16.01.2022 Pommes Dauphines | 152 x 152 cm Acrylic polymer on linen - hanging for what will be a very short time on our Sydney Gallery wall....incredible piece from Stan French artist Stanislas Piechaczek brings to his linen a distinct, fresh conversation via a narrative of figuration. The works sit between an unusual break of relaxed vibe meets clever observation and quirky dialogue. Born in Issoudun a small town in the Centre region of France, Stan then moved to the seaside town of Biarritz in the French Basque Country in south-western France and from there came to Australia. From an early age, Stan was drawing and writing poetry which developed over the years into a passionate love of painting. @ Studio Gallery Group

13.01.2022 Transformation of the Arthur Boyd work Melbourne Burning 1946-47 in @monamuseum by Sue Beyer. Using a multidisciplinary approach, Sue Beyers visual art practice primarily examines place and space. Her current work is part of an ongoing investigation into the concept of liminal space (transformation and the in-between) through the lens of personal mythologies, post internet and post digital concerns, and Instruction-Based art.... Through the transformation of well-known Australian landscape paintings, Sue uses post digital strategies as a metaphor for the permanent alteration and ultimate transformation of the landscape and our society as we know it. The marks of a human hand are visible in her work. It isnt hard edge, you can see the brush marks and imperfections. This emphasizes the process of making. The digital is referenced because that is where the reference material is made, but the work is about human transformation.

02.01.2022 Studio Gallery defines an art space to be inclusive, aspirational, hungry for the unfamiliar, embracing of change, ever progressive. Enter the studio of acclaimed Abstractionist @claire.kirkup At the very core of my paintings are life experiences. Emotions are applied in flexible forms, and showcased as gaping cliffs, hilltops, precipices or large expanses of sky. For me there is a real parallel between emotion and landscape. Our country is so diverse, and it can be shape...d and expressed in numerous unique ways. I find it mirrors the human spirit. We all feel our senses heightened when we are confronted by unique and breathtaking things in our natural surroundings. We live through art and experience, our name looks to quite simply pay homage to nothing other than the very place art originates from Studio. @ Studio Gallery Group

02.01.2022 So thrilled to welcome Gestural Expressionist Miranda Russell to the Studio Gallery Stable Artist Statement My works are an intimate expression of my place in the world, and can best be understood as an intuitive response to surroundings. ... A raw and honest dialogue of form, colour, memory, and landscape together expresses imagery within, with which I escape from reality. My work provides me with great calm and simplicity in an often chaotic world. Miranda is a Finalist in the prestigious Pro Hart Outback Art Prize 2019 and Hawkesbury Art Prize 2019 @ Studio Gallery Group
