25.01.2022 Getting baby ready Home isolation means a good excuse to go through old baby items tucked away and stock up on new pieces for the nursery. Not how I was planning on spending the last month pre baby however being forced to bunker down and relax is good for the soul. My aim is to stay calm and healthy and focus on the exciting times ahead. Being home also means more time with my little lady. Home schooling and work juggle testing my patience, mixed in with preparing for our s...chools virtual Easter hat parade, puzzles, playing cafes, and hide & seek. However playing at 8 months pregnant means mum cant fit into concealed spaces so it mostly involves me rolling on the floor beside the bed and then spending 3 minutes trying to get up off the floor Hope everyone is keeping well this week. 23.01.2022 Back in the studio soon Hello everyone! From next week Wednesday 16th September I will be back at the studio store in Carss Park. After a few blissful months enjoying the newborn bubble, its time to return. I have been doing all I can to keeping safe during the peak of the pandemic, and the decision to re-open while we are yet not out of the woods has been carefully considered. We have been so diligent about isolating over the last 4 months; Ive been keeping home save fo...r a few errands which has been an adjustment, and keeping our family safe has come first (our little man has yet to meet most of our family and friends ) So the decision to re-open we have not taken lightly; it has been longer than first anticipated and I am very thankful and appreciative of your patience. Lets all do our best to keep well. I will maintain social distancing and all things necessary, and will offer a click & collect service if you prefer to remain outside the store. And if you live locally I can deliver complimentary to your door. Although the plan was to bring my little man in with me, its best if he stays safe at home. 22.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that I have had to close the doors to Studio Onethirty temporarily. Like many other small businesses the decision has been made to put the health of ourselves, our families and our clients first. What makes it more important is that I am due to welcome a new baby in a months time, and so staying healthy and safe is my priority. This is just a little hiatus, I hope to be back in the studio during Winter; crossing fingers and toes bubs will be happy to... accompany me as I slowly ease back into it, hopefully by then the epidemic will be over and we are all safe to enter the world again. So whilst I take this little hiatus, the store will be operating online. Over the coming days I will launch free shipping to Sydney metro on all items, and a special discount to the entire store. I will continue to make beautiful things, hopefully to spark a little joy during such a bleak time, so please continue to follow my journey. 20.01.2022 The most beautiful interior by @sarah_yarrow from her Bellevue Hill project. So in love Blossom cushion by yours truly. #Repost @sarah_yarrow with @get_repost... BEFORE & AFTER In this recently completed project, the brief was to create a master bedroom sanctuary & really elevate its level of sophistication to keep in with the rest of the home (hint: video of this whole project is coming soon!) Here are a few things I did to create that feeling: TEXTURE - added textured wallpaper to the large wall behind the bed. Artwork alone above the bed would have left the space feeling quite flat and underwhelming. And adding too much art would make it feel overcrowded. I opted for a luxurious grasscloth wallpaper which essentially became 2D "artwork" in itself! Grasscloth is a natural fibre so when applying, it means the sheets of paper will never actually align so youll see the *lines* between each sheet. This is part of the look and to be embraced rather than considered a flaw. Here, I used a soft grey/silver colour which reflects the sunlight. CUSTOM bedside tables - we were very restricted for space either side of bed to fit bedside tables. It was difficult to find pre-made ones which ticked the boxes for dimensions, style and level of quality we required. So it became an easy choice to have them custom made so I could design them from scratch to perfectly fit the space. Made by @coopersstore LIGHTING - With small allowance for bedside tables, I didnt want to take up surface space by adding a lamp, so instead, opted for wall mounted scone lighting. This saved on space but also added another feature to the wall by drawing your eye upwards from the low sitting bed. BEDLINEN - can I give you a tip? Linen bedding will change your world! Honestly, it will. The ritual of sleep just gets a whole lot better in linen. I love @inbedstore for a number of reasons - their quality is beautiful, 100% flax linen, the colour range available means there are endless combinations regardless of style and my favourite; they always ensure that ethical and eco-friendly production practices are maintained & aligned to their company. And there is something special about acquiring something with history and purpose Appreciating form & function, perhaps reworking an old piece to give it a contemporary feel. That is how Studio Onethirty textiles started; I couldnt find any upholstery fabric I loved enough to cover some vinta...ge furniture, so I thought why not design my own! . MAKe change by investing in authentic and handmade; MAKe good by purchasing something that needs a little modification; MAKe use of perfectly good pieces that would otherwise end up in landfill; MAKe yours if its something you love. . 16.01.2022 Watching our bushfire crisis unfold daily has been devastating. We have spent the last 10 days at rural properties, both positioned just outside some of the biggest bushfires currently burning in NSW. Watching helicopters overhead water bomb a blaze nearby, smoke suddenly consuming our surroundings, talking about action plans. It certainly put things into perspective and I could not imagine what the people in the thick of it are going through. Losing their homes, lives of lov...ed ones and watching our native flora and fauna perish before their very eyes would be gut wrenching. They say superheros dont wear capes; there are no truer words spoken at this very moment. Our firefighters are putting so much more than just their own lives on the line, and our nation will be forever grateful. We have had quite the interesting conversation with our 4yr old while watching the fires take hold. Talk about our country, our planet, climate, inaction, devastation, loss of life; and how at this moment our family can be so grateful for many things. She decided to gather many of her toys to donate to those children who have lost so much. We will do the same with what we can. Watching our community rally together to offer donations, places to stay, help to find missing relatives and assistance on the frontline has been inspiring. If only the powers above shared the same willingness to act and empathy for those suffering. 2020 has had a tragic start however I am certain it will mark the year of change. #ourcountry #australia #prayforrain #firefightersdeservebetter #bushfiresaustralia #2020istheyearofchange

As we sit and enjoy the last day of 2019 here on the south coast NSW, keeping a cautious eye on the plumes of smoke not too far, our thoughts are with the many people fighting to see through the new year safe and well and with their homes still standing. Lets hope 2020 will be the year of change And personally, what a year it has been. Plenty of highs along with some lows.
