07.01.2022 A trip down memory lane from a former coach, player and legend Sergio Cesaro. ********************* With very little practical sports involvement happening this week, I thought I would catch up and re read some of my theory stuff., hope you dont mind me sharing.... 2008 was my first season at Sturt Marion, they had just appointed Peter Buckley and Chris Hodgkinson ( former Eliz Vale player ) as joint coaches. When I saw all the good young talent they had there even in the C grade, I thought if I played Goalkeeper, only way I would get a game every week. As you can see from below, it turned out to be a good move, not a bad effort from someone in the 5th decade of their life. I ended up playing two full games in one day on five occasions, as there were times the B grade keeper did not show up. It was a good year for the club, won the League and promotion, picked up 3 awards at SAASL Presentation Night. Interesting to note that both Sturt Marion and Salisbury Inter won second Division that year, I hope they can repeat that again in 2020 SATURDAY DIVISION 2 Karschimkus Medal Winner: Tony Scalzi (Adelaide Villa) Top Goalscorer: Zelko Popovic (Adelaide Budapest) League Winners Reserves: Cove League Winners Seniors: Sturt Marion SATURDAY DIVISION 5 Players of the Year: Sergio Cesaro (Sturt Marion) Top Goalscorer: Ben Lee (Sturt Marion)

There are however a number of compliance requirements that we are currently working through and need sign off on before we can commence trainings. This means unfortunately, training tonight will not be happening. (12/05).
