23.01.2022 When I'm designing homes or a space for clients, they often ask 'How do I choose colours for my house?' It's a big decision, without a doubt. And, it's often not easy for clients to make such a big decision on their own from a small colour swatch sample. Colour has the ability to trigger our emotions, effect the way we think. Colour has great influence. So, its critical to get it right. ... The function or purpose of the space, or property is the first consideration (home, office, investment property etc.). The surrounding environment also plays an important factor. Then, because of how deeply colour influences us, I like to ask client's what inspires them. What brings them a feeling of peace, or joy. From that, we begging combining a colour pallet. #colourpalette #inspiration

21.01.2022 Usually when I'm designing a piece, the design inspires the fabric choice but, sometimes, the fabric inspires the design. These beautiful fabrics, imported from Milan are the inspiration for my next design. The pants I'm wearing are one of my favourite from the first Octavia Collection, they have evolved over time. I love a harem pant, but they need to be somewhat tailored otherwise they won't be as versatile. When I couldn't find anything I liked in store, I made my own pattern. The beauty of having a garment tailor made, is that its customized. I design with a view of a capsule wardrobe, so that pieces mix well for a variety of platforms. Over this week, I aim to showcase one pair of pants, many looks. #octaviashoesandfashion

19.01.2022 Mens weekend style tip - as we are coming into cooler weather and slowly getting out and about, a vest is the perfect style item for our current climate. In this example it's worn with jean's, shirt and tie & oxfords, the sleeves rolled up to give it more relaxed look. For an even more casual look, vest can be matched with a long sleeve 'T', jean's and sneakers, accessorise with beanie or cap, and as it gets cooler, simply layer with blaze and scarf. 10.01.2022 Have you found yourself needing to create a space for a home office? If you're worried that you don't have enough room, I wager that you do. A little creativity and perhaps moving some furniture will create extra space for your stylish home office. Ensure you consider your type of work and how many hours you require to accommodate in this space, in order to guarantee there is enough room to facilitate your work load.... Working from home requires a different mind set from that in a workplace. Follow ergonomic rules ( i.e. discipline and models equal strenth). Other factors to consider; position well in natural light for online meetings (or invest in lighting), adequate storage, and make it a comfortable space. Personalise it and where posible, create thoughtful privacy or screening.
