24.01.2022 The 'Scubaroo' has been working hard recently... here she is with.... quite a bit... of dive gear in transit.

22.01.2022 Here #fishyfishyfishy I so love these capped #damselfish I've not seen this species elsewhere so they do say "Heron Island Diving" to me more than any other critter...... #heronisland #heronislanddiving #cantwaittoreturn #islandtime #diverdi #submersiblehuman #diveqld #divequeensland #divelocal #divewithme #travelwithme #iamdiver #iampadi #divetravel #diveadventures #diaryofadiveinstructor #diaryofadiveguide #diaryofatravelguide #scubatraveller

20.01.2022 Manta Ballet at Manta Bommie!!

19.01.2022 Because #turtles are just #awesome This little (Green) #seaturtle was one of about 6 spotted - of 3 different turtle species on this small site over a single dive. Was such a brilliant day! #latergram #diaryofadiveinstructor #diaryofadiveguide #submersiblehuman #diverdi #divebuddies #greenturtle #greatviz #divelocal #southeastqldscuba

18.01.2022 I am just quietly recovering from three days of diving that couldn't be more different. On Friday Brian and I completed a shore dive at the Tweed River; whilst looking clear from the surface, with many turtles surfacing for a breath of air.... Underwater it was still very green and low viz. Pea Soup. We still saw heaps of life with lagoon rays, cleaner shrimp, flathead, my favourite little testy bullrouts and heaps of butterbream. Saturday saw a stunningly calm sea to comp...lement a bunch of Advanced, experienced divers heading to dive the very current-prone and deep site of Gotham City. Descending into stunning visibility and no current, we swam to the rock that is Gotham and were smushed by strong currents, a thermocline of 5 degrees (Brrrrr!) and a severe drop in visibility. However, the marine life was fantastic, with huge amounts of soft coral growth on the sides and tip of the monolith since I last visited. I finally managed to see 'Nev's Plaque' and share his ocean cave for a few reflective moments. After such a deep and energetic dive, we took a 60minute cruise in the shallows at Flinders reef, in crystal waters with very friendly turtles and huge rays in the sand. (Some very pregnant Black Blotched rays) Pics/video to come when I download camera. Today my instructors cap went back on and Brian completed his last training dive and had his first pleasure dive. I fear we have spoilt him for good, as both dives were mind boggling. Stunning visibility, with Mantarays dancing in all directions. Loggerhead and Green turtles coming in very close, monster black blotched rays, eagle rays, very chill lionfish, boxing... the list goes on. Leopard Sharks allowing us to lie next to them. Wobbegong, Bamboo and Shovelnosed sharks all present and chill (apart from the grumpy Wobbegong that Matt nearly stood on) A bait ball of glassfish was the absolute star of the show with Mackerel and Emporer darting amongst it to feed on the glassies. As the bait ball boiled and rolled, it moved amongst divers, rays and mantas alike. It was mesmerising. With Northerlies blowing it was a bumpy trip out and back, but so worth it for those dives, and to give Brian epic memories of his course qualifying dives. Still a little stunned by this weekend. Thankyoy to all who came along to these dives. Its been awesome!!

13.01.2022 Big day today with a long awaited completion of training. CoVid interruptions and scheduling conflicts had this course run a little longer than some! But the re...sult at last is our very own Peter C, Trainee no longer, but now Divemaster. A long road, outstanding progress and very proud of this new addition to the dive industry. Join me in congratulations to Peter Crooke - PADI Divemaster. Have you dived with Pete? Share your story with us! As you can tell from these pics: Pete is very shy of the camera. The selphie King ;-) Well Done Mate, (and much thanks to Sam for her support along the way!!) :-D Diver Di

11.01.2022 Another species I have yet to see elsewhere, these #strawberryhussar used to congregate around Heron Bommie, although these lovlies were around North Bommie. #heronisland #heronislanddiving #cantwaittoreturn #islandtime #diverdi #submersiblehuman #diveqld #divequeensland #divelocal #divewithme #travelwithme #iamdiver #iampadi #divetravel #diveadventures #diaryofadiveinstructor #diaryofadiveguide #diaryofatravelguide #scubatraveller

11.01.2022 See you there!!

11.01.2022 A simply amazing place to view the night sky. The helipad, overlooking Heron Harbour. I met a fellow star-gazer here and we proceeded to fix the world's problems while we filmed the milky way. #jupiter and #saturn are shining brightly in the middle of the shot: #coronaaustralis or #thesoutherncrown to their left.... Mars is hiding out behind us. #stargazer #longexposure #openshutter #themilkyway #nightskies #heronisland #heronislanddiving #cantwaittoreturn #islandtime #diverdi #submersiblehuman #diveqld #divequeensland #divelocal #divewithme #travelwithme #iamdiver #iampadi #divetravel #diveadventures #diaryofadiveinstructor #diaryofadiveguide #diaryofatravelguide #scubatraveller

10.01.2022 Short trip away to dive some sites not explored with the bigger camera rig. The old skool 5mm DV film is throwing out some oddly formatted stills..... Oops.

07.01.2022 #turtles turtles everywhere!! Once a #turtlesoupfactory Heron Island is a long way from the old days, but has so many turtles - especially now in the breeding/nesting season.... #greenseaturtles #greenturtle #heronisland #heronislanddiving #cantwaittoreturn #islandtime #diverdi #submersiblehuman #diveqld #divequeensland #divelocal #divewithme #travelwithme #iamdiver #iampadi #divetravel #diveadventures #diaryofadiveinstructor #diaryofadiveguide #diaryofatravelguide #scubatraveller

06.01.2022 What a crazy busy few weeks it has been for training!!! The most recent weekend showed us the best weather and calm seas in weeks, with both Brian enjoying his first ever Open Water dives and Seb and Paul finishing their Advanced Open water training on exHMAS Brisbane. Absolutely stunning conditions and excellent dives.... Lots of happy-bunny divers!!!

01.01.2022 This is where the #heronislandsundowners got their name. Bringing the sun down each day from this stunning viewpoint. This is The Gantry - a relic from many years gone by. Now a roost for Brown Boobies(birds) as the Noddies(terns) swoop and fish before heading to their nests for the night.
