25.01.2022 Christianity can provide: *a meaning in life that suffering cant take away *a satisfaction not based on circumstances *a freedom that doesnt turn community an...d love relationships into thin transactions *an identity that is not fragile, not based on performance or exclusion *a way to deal with guilt and to forgive without residual bitterness or shame *a basis for seeking justice that doesnt turn you into an oppressor yourself *a way to face not only the future but death itself with poise and peace See that your indelible needs and longings for these things are actually echoes of your need for God.

24.01.2022 A thought on society; We do not need to get good laws to restrain bad people. We need to get good people to restrain us from bad laws. Society does not differ much about what things they will call evil; they differ enormously about what evils they will call excusable. G.K. Chesterton

22.01.2022 O God, our refuge and our strength, our very present help in time of trouble, have mercy on our brothers and sisters around the world who live with the reality ...of anti-Christian violence. We pray for the countless thousands who have been injured or bereaved, who have had to flee their homes and livelihoods. Comfort them with the reality of Your presence, protect them like a mighty fortress, and make the escalating violence cease. May the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ be glorified as Christian victims of violence forgive and love their persecutors, just as He did. (Psalm 46) See more

20.01.2022 When you do religious deeds to try to save yourself or exalt yourself, they’re actually done from self-interest. Religion done to distinguish ourselves from others or set us apart inevitably leads us to insecurity and cruelty. The gospel teaches the opposite of religion. It teaches that God offers salvation not to those who earn it as a reward but to those who are unworthy and receive it as a gift. ~ J.D. Greear

19.01.2022 At what point does our society say, Enough is enough when it comes to the assault on our children? At what point do we stand up as a nation and put a stop to this attack on innocence? As a society departs from its Christian reference point of moral behaviour, so to does society become more entrapped in (sin) sexualisation. With Gods Grace, may we never hold back on preaching the gospel, not to condemn but to teach the truth of humanitys corruption in need of a Saviour. https://www.christianpost.com//the-depravity-of-a-culture-

19.01.2022 Lord Jesus Christ, we praise You for the faithfulness of Christians in China in the midst of growing persecution, when worship services are attacked, church bui...ldings are demolished, digital surveillance tracks their every move, and elderly believers are deprived of their pensions. Please give them strength and grace to bear their suffering. May Your people show Your character in their lives. May they bring peace, love, joy and harmony to their society, and show to the communist authorities of China the reality of Your presence and power. See more

18.01.2022 Jesus is always only a prayer away, if not closer.

16.01.2022 From Religious Liberty Prayer Bulletin: 11/9/2020 - Pastor Ayuba Khora has been leading a house church of around 55-60 Christians from 12 families in Badaguda village, Koraput district, Odisha State, for the past two years. He says these believers have faced opposition almost every day since they decided to follow Jesus. As animists, the villagers believe their own gods are angered by the prayers of Christians. Brainwashed and incited by Hindu nationalists, a large mob of a...nimists has launched a campaign of violent persecution against the Christians, destroying their homes and meeting place. On 21 June a mob of miscreants attacked a home in which all the believers were sheltering together. Eight believers were hospitalised with serious injuries. On 19 August police warned the Christians that if their worship creates disturbances they will be arrested. Please pray. See more

16.01.2022 I am not afraid that the people called Methodists should ever cease to exist either in Europe or America. But I am afraid lest they should only exist as a dead ...sect, having the form of religion without the power. 14.01.2022 Weekly ACC Devotional from Dr Katherine Abetz Nearer than when we first believed We are a pilgrim people. Have you heard those words? Often they are used in reference to the Uniting Church. These words come from the Basis of Union 3. Usually they are taken out of context. The Church referred to is not the Uniting Church in particular but the whole Church, i.e. the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, the world-wide Church throughout the ages. Paragraph 3 states: The ...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Heavenly Father, we lift to you today our Christian brothers and sisters in Somalia, few in number and extremely vulnerable to hostility and violence because of... their decision to follow Your Son Jesus Christ. Please make Your loving presence very real to each one in their loneliness, and shelter them under the shadow of Your wing to protect them from those who seek to harm and destroy them. May the joy of the Lord be their strength and may the beauty of their Christ-like characters draw more Somalis to follow Jesus, in whose Name we pray. See more

12.01.2022 Another interesting article from John Sandeman, from Eternity News and a former editor of ACCatalyst:

12.01.2022 At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. ''LEST WE FORGET'' "The time has come" an Australian said,... "Bye" as he faced the door and ran ahead. The war has started the battle begun, Smack-boom-crash went the lethal gun. Oww, the pain, other soldiers cried, Most of their friends sadly died. All the soldiers tried to laugh in glee, But they all missed their family. Every battle the bugle sang, The soldiers heard the deafening bang. Soon the battle is going to end, The pain inside will never mend. How they wished to be back home, Safe and snug and not alone, More and more people die, As more soldiers painfully cry. When it's the end of war, They knock happily at their door, Soldiers go to Flanders field, With the poppies they wield, People look at the poppies red, Like their blood on the graveyards head, We remember the soldiers, who fought and died. And all their mates fighting by their side. We thank the soldiers who kept us alive, And the times in war they had to survive, We will always remember the men, Who gave their life to defend. Lest we forget. By James, Aged 11 https://www.awm.gov.au/learn/schools/showcase/anzac-poem

11.01.2022 FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. In a survey conducted by D. James Kennedy Ministries, now led by Frank Wright, and sent to the ministrys supporters...when asked if abortion is an issue your pastor should address from the pulpit, 98% said yes. When asked the same about sexual identity, 96% said yes. 88% and 80% respectively said that the topic is important to them personally, and 90 and 93% said that they know enough of what the Bible says on the issues to be able to communicate it to others. 99% agreed that persecution and religious liberty is a concern that should be discussed from the pulpit, but only 67% said that they know what the Bible says on the topic to be able to explain it to others.

09.01.2022 Good to see a false prophet apologising.

09.01.2022 Accountable to No One: The Role of Uniting Church Assembly Governance in Ending a Fragile Church Union. by Robert Brennan & David Pohlmann Extract from the book, ( Chapter 4 Binding the Constitution to the Basis of Union. Pages 54-55).... ..."There is serious concern that lack of accountability of Assembly to the rest of the church has potentially far more wide-ranging implications than simply for the sexuality issue. Some have argued that the preamble to the constitution goes further than its commendable goal of recognising and respecting the first peoples of this continent. This could be one such example. There are numerous Assembly reports and decisions which either run contrary to orthodox understandings of the faith or more seriously have never had the question asked of them whether they do adhere in any way to the substance of the faith. That is no matter whether it is to the standard proposed by Beswick above or any other measure. No decision has ever been referred to other councils of the church for their concurrence. The concerns raised in Gippsland in 1993 led to an attempt to make the national Assembly accountable to the rest of the church. This move was successful in having the Uniting Church Constitution amended. Sadly, this change has had no appreciable effect on the culture or actions of Assembly in following years. What is worse is that additional attempts to enable the wider church to correct Assembly mistakes or bring them to account have repeated failed. The divisions within the church have deepened". https://confessingcongregations.org.au//Accountable-to-No-

05.01.2022 World Religious Freedom Prayer Updates from Elizabeth Kendal, Director of Advocacy at Canberra-based Christian Faith and Freedom (CFF) - Focus on Uzbekistan this week. UZBEKISTANS RELIGION LAW UNDER REVIEW Uzbekistans President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, elected December 2016, is leading the state through transformative reform. His desire to engage and trade with both East and West requires religious liberty to be addressed. Consequently, Uzbekistans repressive, Soviet-inspired 1...998 Religion Law is currently under review. Unfortunately, the draft new Religion Law made public on 19 August is deeply disappointing. Instead of eliminating repression, it would perpetuate it. The government is afraid that religious freedom would enable pro-Caliphate fundamentalist Islam to spin out of control. Furthermore, after a century of Soviet and Soviet-style social control, violent repression is for many the default position. But while the government is afraid, it is not alone! Many Uzbeks are excited by Uzbekistans new openness and growing prosperity. Please pray for Uzbekistan and its persecuted yet growing Church. See more

04.01.2022 O Lord God, hear the prayers of Your people around the world in the midst of intense suffering, whether from violent attacks of terrorists, coronavirus lockdown..., locusts, extreme weather or other causes. For many their trials seem almost too great to bear. We pray you will remind them that, although weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning, whether in this life or the next. We ask this in the Name of Your Son our Savoiur Jesus Christ. (Psalm 30:5) See more

02.01.2022 Some of you may have seen the CPX Documentary film or series For the Love of God: How the church is BETTER + WORSE than you ever imagined. The companion book was awarded the Australian Christian Book of the Year (13 August). Like the series, the book looks at the impact of the Christian faith in history, illustrated by wonderful examples of the good, as well as considering some of the difficult times.

01.01.2022 The Christian message is not an inclusive message that embraces all religions; it’s not a message that there are many paths to the same place. The Christian message is summed up in the brave words of Peter before the Sanhedrin: Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:1112). -Michael Youssef
