19.01.2022 Horse riding helps me still feel like me. Theresa wasn’t into crossword puzzles, so she took up horse riding to pick up the pace for her brain and her body. It’s things like this that keep Theresa strong and make living with dementia a little easier.

14.01.2022 There's no such thing as "just a horse"

13.01.2022 I was told I should have a straight line from my elbow to the bit and keep my leg underneath me while my horse carries himself without too much weight on the fo...rehand... how are we doing?? Tons of credit to the actual rider Sarah Killeen! Not many would have that balance in this situation!

12.01.2022 The horse below has already found a wonderful home. Thank you, though, to everyone who has responded to offer him a home! Posting on behalf of a friend.... Free to a good home! Omaru Elton is a handsome Lipizzaner x Andalusian cross gelding born 6/2/2009. His owner is ill and he needs a new home. He has a sweet lovely character and is easy to handle - catch, shoe, float etc. He has some arthritis and can only be ridden lightly eg trail riding. He would make a lovely companion horse and a great friend. He is a good doer and used to living in a paddock with other horses. He is located at Limpinwood near Murwillumbah (NSW). Is anyone interested? See more

06.01.2022 Thank you Lydia Plim and Dabs... a mosey around cow pony.. Getting my confidence back after a spell

05.01.2022 Tanja's Tuesday Tip How to hold your reins without pulling back? It is often very difficult to maintain a contact to the bit, without pulling back. ... Commonly we hold the reins in our hands, making a fist where the thumb is placed on top. Now I invite you to try something. Make a light fist and place your thumb on top, pretending to hold your reins. Now imagine you are taking up the contact, can you feel how quickly your little finger and your ring finger tense up and how that tension creates a ‘pull back’ action in your elbow. To avoid this, make a fist again, but this time place the top (the tip) of your thumb onto the rein and notice how pressure of your little finger and the ring finger is released. Holding your rein this way ensures that you can have a consistent contact with the rein, without pulling back. I look forward to feedback from you all as you experiment! Happy Tuesday everyone, Tanja x x

03.01.2022 I often get asked how I get my plaits to look like they do & putting that together with other common questions and differences in plaiting, I've made this video... to better explain why I plait like I do and to show how the differences in plaiting will impact your rosette. Some of the common differences I see in plaiting a horses manes for rosettes includes: ~Using or not using product ~Whether you dampen the hair or not ~How tight you do the plait ~If you start the plait off a little looser or not Another differnece that I forgot when I was videoing and just thought of when I started writing this post is - Whether you plait 'over' (so if it was a braid it would be a French braid) or 'under' (if it were a braid it would be a dutch braid). To get the softer/loopy look over the crest at the top of your plait you need to plait 'over'. If you plait 'under' you've only got the centre section of the plait that can go up, the two side pieces go under, so they can't sit up and give that soft look. I hope this video helps to illistrate what I often try and write in reply to questions on my photos & videos.

02.01.2022 What an amazing painting! This artwork by NSW artist Cameilia Edwards is called 'Kindred Hearts'. It just took home the 2020 Inverell Shire Council Acquisitio...n Prize - well deserved, we reckon! Cameilia says the painting was inspired by a photograph taken in WA, highlighting the struggles of life in the outback. "When I saw the photograph I knew it would make an amazing painting. It depicts so much emotion," she said. : CameiliaGrace art via ABC New England North West
