20.01.2022 INTRODUCING OUR NEW CHAIRPERSON Hello Sunraysia Relay For Life family! My name is Amanda (Mands) Glossop and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Chairperson of the Sunraysia RFL volunteer committee. ... Relay has been a special part of my life for nearly a decade now and I am so passionate about everything that makes Relay so unique. Our ability to raise funds to support vital research and awareness campaigns. How beautifully our community remembers those angels we have lost to this horrible disease. And how we come together to kick Cancer in the backside. What we have is so powerful. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it! WHY DO I RELAY? > I Relay because it is one small thing I can do to make a difference. > I Relay for my Grandpa (Da) who passed away from blood cancer when I was just 6 years old. > I Relay for my awesome friend Blake, who was diagnosed with brain cancer as a teenager. I Relay for his courage and to celebrate the fact that he is still with us - living a great life. #teamlegend > I Relay for the beautiful Mands, who fought the beastie Ovarian Cancer but was finally beaten. I Relay in her memory and as a way raising awareness and hoping we can find a detection test. #silverliningride > I Relay for my special friend Niki, who should not be fighting breast cancer in her 20's. I Relay to support her courage in sharing her story and encouraging women to #checkyourboobies. > I Relay for Matty - who when we first met was 4 years old and tackling Leukemia. Who inspires so many every day as he continues to kick Cancer's butt and dominates as a soccer goal keeper. > I Relay so my son Rhyder can grow up in a world where Cancer is not a common disease. Where with each generation, the impact of this disease lessens and our family can live without the fear of a silent killer. > I Relay for every one of you. For my friends and family who have lost their children, parents, cousins, aunties, uncles, work mates, friends and acquaintances well before their time. THE HEART OF SUNRAYSIA RFL The Sunraysia Relay For Life is now moving into it's 17th year - an amazing feat for any Relay event. This event has heart; there is just something special about Sunraysia and our community that brings us together like no other community. I look forward to meeting everyone involved in the Sunraysia Relay For Life community and hearing your stories. Hugging you as we probably all cry with the rollercoaster of emotions that Relay brings. And coming together with you to celebrate, remember and fight back against Cancer at our event in September. Much Love, Mands x

20.01.2022 To help us understand how the pandemic and physical distancing measures have impacted people affected by cancer, Cancer Council researchers are conducting an Australia-wide survey and we want to hear about your experience via this survey

19.01.2022 Actions speak louder than words.

16.01.2022 Let's rewrite the story...

14.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP! An event as special as the Sunraysia Relay For Life doesn't simply happen - it takes a power of work behind the scenes. We know everyone is busy with, you know, LIFE! We get it! But we need your help! The 2020 Sunraysia Relay For Life is in need of some extra helping hands to join the volunteer committee. We don't expect a crazy time commitment - we just know that many hands make light work.... So if you're as passionate about Relay For Life as we are and are willing to dedicate a few hours to helping us in some way, we would be stoked to have you! Wanting a bit more information? Shoot as an inbox message and we will get back to you ASAP. Or RSVP to attend our February Committee Meeting this Sunday afternoon at 4pm at the Mildura Gateway. We cannot thank our past and current committee members enough for bringing the Sunraysia Relay For Life into it's 17th year and look forward to continuing to grow and support this amazing event now and for many years to come!

11.01.2022 Given the current level of uncertainty around restrictions on events and public gatherings, Cancer Council Victoria has made the decision to cancel the Sunraysia Relay For Life, which was scheduled for September. We truly share your disappointment, but the safety and wellbeing of the community, as well as that of volunteers and staff, are always the most important considerations for us. All your amazing fundraising, including registration fees, will be recognised this year t...o ensure they go towards funding vital services as soon as possible, but please be assured that all registrations will be rolled over to the 2021 event, so you won’t need to pay again to take part. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. The ongoing support of the Relay For Life community has been as inspiring as ever. If you have any questions, please get in touch by emailing [email protected] or calling 1300 65 65 85.

11.01.2022 Are you passionate about Relay For Life? Do you have some ideas that could make our event bigger and better than before? Please come along this afternoon to our Committee meeting we would love your input!

11.01.2022 Did you know that Victoria is on track to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030! The cancer has seen a 48% drop in incidence since 1982, which is a phenomenal result! The Sunraysia Relay For Life raises funds to contribute to the invaluable research, awareness programs and support services that year upon year, bring us closer to a Cancer free future. We Relay so that Cervical Cancer becomes a statistic rather than a diagnosis and to save the life of the women we all love. Now that is something worth fighting for!

09.01.2022 Well done to Happy Turtle Childcare on taking their SunSmart program to the next level. This is a fantastic step in supporting the health and wellbeing of your children, their families and your educators. Great work! Education and implementation of the Sunsmart program is just one of the important Cancer prevention initiatives supported by the fundraising efforts of the Sunraysia Relay For Life community.

07.01.2022 The strangest silver lining to the Coronavirus cloud... Tomorrow we would have been celebrating the 2020 Sunraysia Relay For Life! With forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms, wind and even large hail - we would have likely had to call the event off last minute. Which is even more devastating than an early postponement! Stay safe tomorrow Sunraysia Relay family! We hope to bring news of the next step to our Relay story in the near future.
