24.01.2022 Wishing all the Dad's involved in the Sunraysia Football Umpires Association family a wonderful Father's Day! Our thoughts are with those who are remembering loved ones lost today. Thanks to all the Dad's who have influenced our community - we value your role in the SFUA and what you do to support your loved ones in pursuing umpiring.

22.01.2022 It rained. It poured. It thundered. And it was rather chilly. And that was all before training even began! But they still come down and trained. Well done to our Junior Training group this morning - Angus, Asher, Durc, Jackson, James, Ned, River and Sienna!... Thanks to President Hawk, Ant and Jay who pulled on their footy boots for some match day simulation.

20.01.2022 Nice work by the Tuesday night crew who are braving the chilly conditions for training this evening! All in the name of umpire development and supporting junior footy in Sunraysia. We are proud to be the SFUA - well done umpiring family!

18.01.2022 HONE YOUR CRAFT. Umpiring isn't as simple as blowing a whistle or throwing in a ball. You don't simply pull on a uniform and become an umpire. Becoming an umpire is a constant process of learning, refinement, decision making, positioning, communication and leadership.... It is training yourself to confidently and competently make split second decisions that can impact an entire game. And it is turning up, session after session, to push yourself to be the best you can. For the passion of the game. As an umpire, you work hard to play your part. A role that is not about winning or premierships, but providing players with the opportunity to play and to chase their own football dream in the most fair and even field as possible. So to our team - the members of the Sunraysia Football Umpires Association family who do what they do to support our local football community - thank you. Thank you for your commitment to learning. Your willingness to push yourself. For doing the best you can to prepare for whatever lays before us, despite the pandemic we are living through. Keep on applying yourselves and committing to playing our special role in in our great game. You are doing yourselves, the SFUA and football in Sunraysia proud.

17.01.2022 TRAINING CANCELLED TONIGHT: Due to a clash with a Harness Racing meet today, SFUA Senior training is CANCELLED. We thought we had found alternative venue but unfortunately we couldn't make it happen in time.... As we seek feedback from our members regarding the continuation training, we will hold off on publishing plans for further training. We do however invite those members who are keen to train and take part in match simulation training to volunteer to assist Junior Coach Billy Stevens between 10am-12pm on Saturday . If you are able to assist on Saturday, please comment below or SMS Amanda (0478 033 855). Thanks all for your patience - we will know more soon!

15.01.2022 JUNIORS TO TRAIN THIS SATURDAY! Despite the unfortunate news overnight that the Sunraysia Football & Netball League Junior season has been cancelled - we wish to confirm the scheduled Junior Umpire training this Saturday will go ahead as planned. Throughout this whole unprecendeted '2nd preseason' the focus for the Sunraysia Football Umpires Association has been umpire development. And the physical, emotional and mental health of our kids. ... We have been blown away by the application and commitment of this group of young men and women over the past 6 weeks. This Saturday was always planned as an all in session with both groups training together. So lock it in your calendar... Saturday, 25th July 2020 No 2 Oval, Mildura 10.00am - 12.00pm Regardless of when we pull on the fluro green again in the future - we are proud to continue our commitment to providing opportunity and support to our members. 13.01.2022 Junior Football season CANCELLED Overnight it was confirmed by the Sunraysia Football & Netball League that they have made the difficult decision to cancel the Junior Football season. Like the SFNL, the club's and players - we are disappointed that there will be no footy action on ground in Sunraysia in 2020.... But we fully understand the reasoning and the pressure of this constantly evolving situation. It truly is unprecedented! WHAT IS NEXT? Right now. Nothing! Training will be as scheduled this Thursday (6.00pm-7.00pm) and Saturday morning (10.00am-12.00pm). In the next 24 hours, we will be sending out an email to members to provide updates and get your feedback. We thank all members for your commitment and hard work. We think you're amazeballs!

12.01.2022 Congratulations to our friend Romany and her team at MyoSports on relocating to their new home on Deakin Avenue! We look forward to checking out the new digs!

11.01.2022 Dear members, What a bizarre 2020 it has been! From an umpiring perspective we started training on those hot February evenings for what we thought would be a full season of Sunraysia Football. ... Then our world changed, training was cancelled and we all had to do our part by staying at home unless essential to leave and so we waited. As restrictions eased, we recommenced training in early June and were told that there would be a shortened football season across all grades. And then that was called off, but we continued to train. Shortly after that, there was an announcement of a proposed junior competition, so we continue to train and prepare for this. I would like to thank personally all those members who have been training in the hope of umpiring this year. From our first-year rookies taking their initial steps into umpiring, our boundary umpires who will use this as an opportunity to switch to field umpiring, and our senior umpires who will not only umpire this year but offer their services as mentors. If you have decided to take the season off, I fully support your decision and I thank you for dedication to umpiring and football over the years and, in some instances, decades. Rest the body, recharge the mind and I hope to see you again in 2021. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the coaching panel this year for their ongoing commitment in preparing umpires for this year and beyond. Stay safe and I hope to see you all on the field next month. President Hawk

11.01.2022 A great insight into the life of an AFL Umpire during COVID! Congratulations to all AFL umpires for their phenomenal and at times unconventional efforts to keep the game officiated at the highest standard!

11.01.2022 It's not all serious stuff down at training. The guys had a bit of a laugh with a cheeky game of keeping's off during the fitness part of the session tonight. Keep an eye out for Bobby and Slippa at the end though!

10.01.2022 Continuing with our flashbacks to the 2019 Sunraysia Football & Netball League Finals series with the Under 16 Grand Final featuring Robinvale-Euston and Irymple Football Netball Club. A tightly contested game right through to the final siren - the game resulted in extra time and Irymple kicking away to win 14.5.89 over Robinvale-Euston 11.5.71. The SFUA team officiating this match were Wayne Carmichael, Tessa Hendy, Novalli Hudson, Bobby Greenwood, Philip Opie, Chris McGre...gor, Ben Price, Zac Heath and Andrew 'Elvis' Dowdy. What a combination of youth this game boasted! With Tessa, Novie and Ben all making their Grand Final debuts and Phil, Bobby and Elvis boasting around 2,000 games of experience between them! We are very lucky to have such a combination of experienced and developing umpires within the ranks of the SFUA.

10.01.2022 We continue our flashback series to the 2019 Sunraysia Football & Netball League Finals- with the Under 14's Grand Final between Robinvale Euston Football Netball Club and Mildura Football Netball Club. This game was full of spirit, eventually resulting in a win for the Robinvale 7.10.52 to Mildura's 7.2.44. Doing a wonderful job officiating for the Sunraysia Football Umpires Association were David Heath, Liam Dowling, Harry Rogers, Colin Garraway, Anthony Cormick, Wilkie Hu...dson, Kael Purdue and Phil McNabb. The Under 14's provides a wonderful opportunity for newer umpires to gain valuable experience, while educating players to adhere to the rules and assist in preparing them for the move up to the Under 16 age group. Stay tuned for the Under 16 Grand Final coming up over the weekend!

09.01.2022 Please confirm attendance for training Fingers crossed - this week will be our 2nd last week of our unprecedented 2nd pre-season 2020! We are so looking forward to talking to see the best juniors football within Sunraysia! Tuesday and Thursday night training this week will again have a strong skills focus to assist umpires in refreshing and refining their skills ahead of umpiring. ... We advise ALL members who are planning to umpire the upcoming junior competition to attend at least one training session per week. Please confirm attendance by commenting below or by SMS to 0478 033 855.

09.01.2022 DONE AND DUSTED... Well that's it - no footy for the remainder of the 2020 year. The past few months have been quite a roller-coaster and I especially wish to thank our members who had committed to training over the past 2 months and had planned to umpire for the junior SFNL season. It is a shame that these games were unable to happen - but I have no doubt that the work you put in recently will be of great benefit in 2021. No training for the foreseeable future:... With the reinstatement of Stage 3 restrictions in our community - we are unable to continue to offer any type of training sessions. Once these conditions change, we will reach out to all member for your feedback about when we get back on the track and how we can best prepare as a team for the 2021 season. $0 Member fee for 2020: I'm pleased to advise that the Executive Committee has decision has been made to reset membership for the SFUA at zero dollars for the 2020 year. To be registered as a member this year - you simply must have completed a paper membership form. If you wish to join as a 2020 member and have not done so yet - please email [email protected] for the form do so. Those members who have already paid fees originally set for this season will be offered a refund. To organise this, please speak directly with Amanda Glossop. Closure of SFUA Clubrooms and Turtle's Bar: Understandably with the reinstatement of Stage 3 restrictions - we have to announce that unfortunately the SFUA Clubrooms and Turtle's Bar are once again closed to ALL members until further notice. It has been great seeing a few members back in the rooms and enjoying each other's company. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy this again sooner rather than later. The focus now turns to 2021 and how best the SFUA can service its members and the football community. The will be a lot of work happening behind the scenes over the coming months. We will keep everyone updates as we know more. In the meantime; stay safe, look out for each other and remember that we are in all in this together! Please give me a call if you have questions. President Hawk (Adam Henschke)

Over the coming days, we will cover each 2019 Grand Final as well as celebrating our special award winners from our 2019 Annual Awards Dinner.
