25.01.2022 I shouldn't have to say this, but if you are not wearing closed in shoes or boots, you will not be allowed to shoot - no thongs! Thanks. Erin

25.01.2022 Happy New Year! Here is our calendar for 2021. Also on our website or email me for a copy [email protected] Erin

24.01.2022 Range captain Pete here asking for some help on Saturday morning about 8am for an hour or so... There's a lot of plastic there for Bale's and a couple on the front range need replacing so if I could get 5 or 6 people for an hour we can get them done and put into place... Hope to see some of you there.. Pete..

24.01.2022 Secretary bragging rights - I hit the seagull! I won't post pics of the 3 trees I hit going for the award at the end of the year. A big thank you to Chris and Holly who took over BBQ duties today so I could shoot. Thank you to all of our members who came today and followed COVID-19 rules. More photos to come Erin

23.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that I let you know I will be stepping down as Secretary of the Club at the AGM on Sunday 21st February. I will still be a Member of the Club and will be attending Club Shoots throughout the year, but can no longer commit the time needed. If you are interested in taking over the roll, please email me at [email protected] and we can have a chat about what is involved. I have very much enjoyed my time as Secretary and will continue to offer my support wherever and whenever I can. Erin

23.01.2022 If you have nominated for the Jules Trad Shoot at Lakeside Bowmen this weekend, and for some reason can't go, please let them know immediately. They have a wait list and need time to contact archers to offer them the place. Thanks. Erin

23.01.2022 A big, big, big reminder we have our working bee this Saturday the 14th from 7:30 am. Many hands make light work, bring your blower, your rake or just yourself (and a pair of gloves). We are looking forward to seeing as club members as possible to help us get ready for the Trad shoot on Sunday and tidy op the grounds for the coming holiday season. The more that come the less time it will take and you might be able to fit in a quick shoot afterwards (bonus right there). Barry

22.01.2022 Lots of reports about ticks today, I just found one in my hair Please check yourselves carefully, they are very small. If you have someone at home who can check you, do it, do it now. Little suckers were falling from trees. Erin

22.01.2022 I love this place, Sunshine Coast Bowmen. Practice range this morning for 2 hours. Not too bad for a beginner if I do say so myself . Erin

13.01.2022 Out at the club this morning, gorgeous weather but nearly stepped on a brown snake. Please keep your eyes open, they are coming out for some warmth. Erin

12.01.2022 Sunday Nov 15 we headed down the highway to the Sunshine Coast Bowmen Traditional Shoot Day. If the weather report and yesterdays temperatures were anything to ...go by, it was going to be a scorcher, so we guessed the numbers might be down a little, despite the fact the morning was cooler than expected. To access the field course you park in the school car park, then, making sure all our archery gear is covered, you walk across the sporting field to the gate on the far side. As we approached the gate one of the SCB members was heading toward us. She had left her phone in the car. Once you walk through the gate, you sign the book, then walk down a slightly winding track toward the clubhouse. The track also forms part of front course walkway between targets. We unpacked our gear, made ourselves a cup of tea and helped ourselves to a small bite of breakfast which is included in the daily shoot fee. Paperwork all filled out, time for a few shots at the practice butts and a morning chat to everyone. Everyone was soon called to muster, and at this shoot we had some medieval archers from the Ipswich and Brisbane area who had camped at a friends place near Cabooture. There were archers from North of Brisbane through to the Gympie area. The numbers were a little lower than expected. For this shoot there were 2 x 20 target courses, and we had been all put into groups, then one lot went out the numbers allocated on the back course, the other to numbers allocated on the front course. The Front course was all 3D targets which included some recent purchases from Apex Hunting. It was a 2 arrow round scoring as 10 for A/B and 5 for rest of the animal. There were various deer, antelopes, a crocodile, an angry bear in a hollowed out tree trunk, a goose, a grouse, a warthog and 2 small rodent type creatures huddled together at the end of a long cylinder plus a small spotty cat, being some of the targets. The first course complete, we did 2 of the novelties. First, the moving, pink-winged-monkey, doing 5 shots, 1 from each marker, scoring 10 or 5. Then the knock-em-downs. Just a small catch, we had to use the club bows, at 18# and the club flunts, goodness knows how far over spined they were, and we were all in the same boat. If you bit one of the 6 big crow or cat targets you scored 1 point per knock down, and if you hit the below hanging bird head you scored 20 points. We were hard up hitting the big targets, let’s not worry about the smaller one. These 2 novelties done, time for lunch which is also included in the shoot fee. One certainly gets value for their money when coming to this club. Lunch was hand made sausages supplied by one of the club members, who is a butcher and they are always yummy, with coleslaw and bacon as well, plus a can of drink. We had to wait for all to finish lunch before we headed out to the other course. For us this was the back course which was all brand new vinyl dinosaur targets, which were a collaboration of a couple of the club members. One used the designs available free online while another added the logos before they were sent off to the printer. Absolutely unique, and an awful lot of fun. As you can see from the photos there were some very unique shaped creatures and rather colourful too. Our groups favourite was the very-thin-osaurus (we were naming them as we went). Once this course was complete we did the rolling disk on or way back to the club house. The club always puts on a fabulous shoot which is definitely worth every cent. Where else can you go to get breakfast/morning tea and lunch plus a drink and tea/coffee included in your shoot fee, along with quite a variety of targets on each course. The weather was nowhere near as warm as they had predicted, and there was a nice little breeze blowing too. All in all we had a fabulous day and will be definitely marking the calendar for the 3rd weekend in November for their 2021 Trad Day shoot (to be confirmed). Thank you Sunshine Coast Bowmen for a glorious fun day. cheers See more

12.01.2022 Have just had another report of a nasty tick bite. That makes two members in hospital for tick bites. Please be vigilant and check yourselves if you have been at the club. Erin

10.01.2022 Just a quick reminder, our next Club shoot is on Sunday 6th September (Father's Day), not this Sunday. Erin

10.01.2022 Due to a change to the Qld Public Health Directives yesterday, that has made it a mandatory requirement to gain approval from the Chief Health Officer to camp at events, it has been proposed that the Lakeside shoot this weekend is to go ahead with no camping permitted. This decision has been made as it is not possible to get the event application submitted & approved in the time left to us prior to the event. The Branch Management Committee is aware that due to the long d...istances some of our members are required to travel, they may opt to not attend. With this in mind, it has also been decided that the ABA Titles will be swapped for the Branch ABA shoot scheduled for June at Lakeside. This will ensure that the shooters that cannot attend this weekend due to the camping restrictions will not be disadvantaged. This means that the shoot at Lakeside this weekend will be a standard Branch ABA shoot. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, however we must comply with all Qld Government Health Directives to keep our communities safe. Jason, President Lakeside Bowmen

If anyone took photos today please email them to me so I can share . Erin

08.01.2022 Hi all, looking forward to seeing your faces this Sunday for our Members only Club Shoot 8.30am please. Erin

08.01.2022 Working bee at the Club this Saturday, bring your lovely selves, rakes, gloves, blowers etc. I will be there about 7.30am. The more hands, the quicker we get it all done. Bale packing needs to be done, plus general tidy up. We also have a couple of trees down. I hope to see a few of you on Saturday. Erin

08.01.2022 We had our First Club Shoot since March today, and I am very happy to say it went without a hitch. I know there are a lot of rules we have to follow, but everyone cooperated and did the right thing. It was a cold start to the morning being only 7 degrees, but by mid morning it was lovely and warm. I am sorry for the poor picture quality - I am a damn good BBQ cook, but a lousy photographer. A big thank you to our Range Captain Peter Heidemann, his two sons Jack and Ben for working so hard the past couple of weeks to get the grounds looking great and safe, and to Gail Heidemann for creating all of the new targets, even the seagulls which are 7 x A shot only. Our next Club Shoot is in two weeks and I hope to see more of you then. Erin

08.01.2022 From today’s shoot thank you Fiona Young

A big shout out goes to our Range Captain Pete and his son Jack who have spent days getting the range ready. A couple of reminder for this Sunday - Members Only! Please don't bring friends to watch or to join on the day. It won't be happening. If you are accompanying a child/young person who is a Member, please only one parent/guardian. There are rules to be followed, please follow them. The only way we can continue to keep the Club open is if we all do our bit. Be safe and stay well and I look forward to seeing your faces on Sunday. Erin
