24.01.2022 ~ Public Notice ~ We have been advised that works are scheduled to take place next Thursday 10th September at Bedarra Park. An inspection by Council staff has ...identified mature trees adjacent to the playground as being dangerous (ie. in decline) and have asked that they be removed for public safety. Partial closure of the park will occur for at least one day maybe two. Signage will go up Monday notifying the public regarding the works, Wednesday preparation works will commence, Thursday the trees will be felled and chipped, Friday the park will be returned to its original usable state. 16.01.2022 A resident has spotted one of the cove's swans with a fish hook and line in his mouth, in the Cove between Eclipse St and the walking bridge at 5.30pm today. Sh...e has contacted the RSPCA who are closed for today. They advise if anyone sees the swan tomorrow please contact them so they know which section of the cove to come to. Call RSPCA 1300 264 625. 14.01.2022 AIRPORT MASTER PLAN - NO DFO GUARANTEED AND ONE RUNWAY ONLY The Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Andrew Brodie has launched the 20 year Master Plan for the airport..., which includes allowances for electric cars, autonomous vehicles and even a light rail and solar power. Mr Brodie outlined a number of safety issues identified in keeping the old runway, including pilot vision, and potential for collisions in the air and on the ground, which meant that it could only be used as a taxi way once the new runway was complete. Mr Brodie described the plan, which is open to public comment for 50 business days as a game changer for the Sunshine Coast. He said it would include better parking as well as an expanded freight terminal on David Low Way. He said the airport was planning to double its destinations from 4 to 8, with hopes of adding flights to northern and western Queensland as well as international destinations such as Singapore. He said the plan aimed to increase passengers and more than double the jobs at the airport in the next 20 years. While there is a new precinct north of the airport that would include food and gym offerings Mr Brodie insisted there were no plans for a DFO discount shopping centre.

09.01.2022 ~ Clean up Australia Day + Clean up the Cove held on Sunday 1st March ~ What an incredible team effort! On behalf of the Sunshine Cove Residents' Association, w...e would like to extend a massive thank you to the 34 generous volunteers that sacrificed their Sunday morning sleep-in and scoured the Cove for rubbish. As a team we gathered 8 trolleys and just shy of 100kg of rubbish! Plus the removal of some large discarded items. The main culprits: unsecured junk mail, cigarette butts, cans and soft plastics. We are proud that so many residents take pride in their community and took the time to support this event. A notable mention to residents Amanda and Cathy who recruited a team of minions from the Claremont precinct - so great to see the excitement and involvement from the younger generation caring for our environment. Remember 'change starts with you' Let's all step up to ensure the continued quality of the Cove. See more
