24.01.2022 Rest occurs while we are asleep, whilst relaxation occurs while we are awake, and involves us engaging in activities that we enjoy. So are you getting enough good quality sleep? Being vital to our well-being it is hard to function on a daily basis without enough sleep. Long term lack of sleep can affect our concentration, judgement and memory, increases blood pressure, overall simple tasks become major issues, and our immune system and metabolism are impacted. Looking... at what you know affects your sleep and sleep patterns is a good beginning. Then commit to choosing one that you will begin to work on this evening. If you know that the late night coffee or glass of wine interrupt quality sleep for you then skip it for a week and enjoy the benefits! Below are a few ideas that might also help. Get off all electronics at least 2 hours before bedtime and ensure there are no electronics in your bedroom. Implement a night time routine that allows you to let go of your days activities and begin to train your body and mind that this is the beginning of your sleep regime. This could be taking a shower or bath, drinking a cup of herbal tea or doing a meditation. Ensure this weekend you get some good quality REST during the celebration season! See more

Our lives have become enclosed into our car, office, home with windows closed for air con/heating but there is nothing more embracing than taking in a full breathe of fresh air. It will bring your body and mind to life, and get those "happy endorphins" kicking in.... 24.01.2022 I am back from my social media holiday! Earlier this year I had a birthday with a zero on the end. I decided to mark the event I would take on Ben Nevis - located in Fort William Scotland - 1344m. This pic was taken about half way up when we were still smiling! The fog/sleet rain/howling winds & below zero temps wiped the smile from my face but not my determination and we made it to the summit. It was definitely the most physical achievement of my life and I don't mind saying there were times when I was scared and very much out of my comfort zone. But it has given me a new metric of what I am capable of achieving .....so look out!

20.01.2022 We arrived at the lake before the sun came up, rolled out our mats and breathed in the morning mist. Taking in the cool air deep into the lower part of our lungs was bringing life and energy into our bodies with the new day. As the sun rose we stood and began our yoga flow with Sun Salutations. How can the day get any better than this ! This lake changes with the seasons and is one of my special yoga spots but also a beautiful walk with the circuit only taking about 20mins. A lovely way to begin the morning.

18.01.2022 Why not use the city gardens as your space to retreat during your lunch break? If you have access to some green space, this can be a wonderful area to get some fresh air. Once again focusing on your breath and using the time to slow down, clear your mind and be gentle with yourself. Small changes like taking time away from your desk at lunch time can make a huge difference to your afternoon mindset.



17.01.2022 Finding a yoga pose that we come into each day can be one way of reminding ourselves to find that quiet retreat 10 minute slot. Don't over complicate this moment. Find a pose that is appropriate for the space you are within, close your eyes, focus only on your breath and allow clarity and creativity to permeate each cell of your body.

16.01.2022 French Cats really do have attitude!! I am yet to come across a French cat that doesn't know how to strike a pose when they see a camera. The smooth, gentle flow between Cat-Cow pose in yoga is wonderful to warm up the body, bringing more flexibility to the neck, shoulders and spine. ... A great way to wake up the body when you first get out of bed in the morning. See more

15.01.2022 Our 2020 Retreats begin in Paris and even though there are some planned activities you have time to do your own thing as well. One of my suggestions is a little unusual but well worth a visit. Buttons, Buttons & More Buttons. Dam Boutons is in the fabric area just below Sacré-Coeur Basilica. Full of every shape, size, colour & material you can imagine in a button and then more. They even sell button rings which are always on my take home list as a beautiful small and unique gift from Paris.

15.01.2022 Today was all about looking at how we can Connect with our Creativity through a Vision Journal. Journals can come in many forms - ones that we just write, draw, doodle, send ourselves letters ....the lists is endless. People often tell me they have tried with a journal but are not sure how to get started. Below are a few questions on writing in your journal before you head to bed. What have I most been thinking about today (good + not so good) & how do I feel? How do I wan...t to feel? Has anything been holding me back today from living my best version of my life now? What is one step I could put in place to make a change? Or What lesson did I learn today that can help me tomorrow? There will be days when you have nothing but good vibes rocking your journal which is wonderful. But I find by asking these questions it helps me identify when I am going down a rabbit hole and gives me a jolt before I get too far. Let me know how you go!



14.01.2022 What does your down time look like this weekend? Sometimes a few restful days off work turns into chores, friend catch-ups, celebrations, family and the list goes on. All great fun but no real quiet time to give your mind a chance to switch off. Putting your legs up the wall is probably one of the most relaxing poses. I love it because there is no equipment required to get you into the zone.... If you don't have a bolster you can use a cushion or blanket. No eye pillow! Place a few drops of your favourite essential oil onto a damp face cloth. Voila!, you are ready. Happy Weekend See more

13.01.2022 And this is Relaxation !! Shavasana in the cool morning breeze on an old Roman road in France. This part of the road is now on my private property so no chance of traffic to interrupt the perfect relaxation at the end of our yoga practice.... During our Retreats we take our yoga practice into the garden at every opportunity. Not only to enjoy the outdoors but also to experience our connections with nature. Relaxation is about doing what we enjoy allowing us to release tension and revitalise our mind and body. What is your ideal when you think of relaxation? For some it could be a round of golf with friends, other might be floating in a bathtub with beautiful essential oils and a great magazine. Time alone to chill out without having to think too much and giving ourselves time to relax our muscles should not be a special treat but a regular event. Even when you cannot feel tension, you can be pleasantly surprised once you have relaxed at how different you feel in body and mind. After her initial morning yoga and mediation she was hooked and was always first into the Yoga Studio eager to learn & experience all she could at the Retreat. The Retreat offers an opportunity for beginners through to experienced yogis to enjoy the intimacy of a small group. where everyone practices at their own pace.

Some bath salts, essential oils, notebook and pen. A lovely cup of my favourite tea and I close the door on the busy-ness of the world outside. Think of what would be your go to place for some peace & calm.

A lot is made of setting yourself up for success with the New Year looming. But we really should be doing this every day of our lives! 01.01.2022 This picture reminds me to take a big deep breath and relax. I know this view so well my mind immediately sends me to a place of peace and I feel an overall calm. Find a picture that takes you to your place of peace. Stick it beside your bed or as your screen saver to remind yourself to breathe deeply. Get rid of all the stale air that sits in the lower lungs and you will feel a new energy through your body.
