12.01.2022 Introducing our November Men’s Program Guest Speaker, OneWave Founder Grant Trebilco After years of battling with mental health challenges, without seeking treatment OneWave Founder Grant Trebilco was hospitalized in 2012 and diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a manic episode. The ocean, surfing and good people were Grant’s saviour during tough times when he was released from hospital. Grant has surfed most of his life, but it was during the six months recovering in New Ze...aland he really discovered that sometimes one wave is all it takes. After hiding mental health challenges for years, he decided enough was enough, it was time to start talking and sharing his experience to try and help others. Maybe if I share the simple recipe of saltwater therapy, surfing and its ok not to be ok, I can prevent people from ever feeling the way I did. So one Friday morning he decided to dress up in a shirt and tie and go surfing solo at Bondi to try and spark conversations about mental health. That was OneWave’s first Fluro Friday, which have now taken place at over 200 beaches Worldwide. If you are interested in attending our November Men’s Program on zoom, scheduled for Thursday November 12 from 7 to 9pm. Please call Support After Suicide on 03 9421 7640 or email [email protected]

11.01.2022 What colours are your days? Sometimes we simply don’t have the words to describe how we are feeling and it’s easier to describe what we feel using colours rather than words. At our September Serious Fun Zoom program, we will be looking at how different colours can be used to describe different emotions and what the different colours mean for each of us. Come and join us at our September Serious Fun Zoom program as we explore how colour and movement can be used to express ...how we feel when we simply don’t have the words. Please ask someone to make sure that you have access to; Some paper (plain white or coloured paper) Colouring pencils, crayons, textas or sharpies Scissors Other craft items for decorating (i.e. glitter pictures from magazines) Try not to make too much of a mess, because you might have to clean up afterwards. But, at the same time, have fun and if you are not sure how to do something, ask someone for help. Serious Fun may be messy, so it’s a good idea to wear old clothes. Please note: During the session we will be using some of the characters from the film ‘inside Out’. If you have access to a printer, you may want to print some of these characters out and colour them in. Please click on the link http://www.supercoloring.com/coloring-p/cartoons/inside-out When: Wednesday September 30, 2020 Time: 10.30am to 12noon Where: ZOOM Dress: Something Very Colourful (i.e. blue hair\wig) Serious Fun is a program for children bereaved by suicide. For more information or to register, please contact Support After Suicide on (03) 9421 7640 or email [email protected]
