25.01.2022 Today we had the pleasure to listen to Luisa Panuccio who came to talk about women in STEM and her journey to become a civil engineer. She spoke about all of the opportunities she had along the way, her project management of the Main North Rd and Dalkeith Road intersection upgrade and showed us how to make a lava lamp. The students had so many questions and comments to share!

23.01.2022 Today we held our Term 3 Pupil Free Day. Our Teachers and SSOs spent the day up until lunch time focussed on both Literacy and Numeracy improvement. Teachers undertook moderation of Numeracy tasks and planning for stretching our students in reading, while SSOs learnt about our intervention programs that we use with students.

19.01.2022 With Love Formal Wear is a non-profit charity organisation that dresses Young People in Care and those experiencing financial hardship at no cost for Year 7 Graduations. They are located at 1506 Main North Road Salisbury South. With Love Formal Wear would like to invite students from Surrey Downs R-7 School to attend in the middle weekend (Sat 3rd Sunday 4th) of the October School holidays. Thereafter we will be open on the first Saturday of each month.

12.01.2022 SENIOR CHOIR EXCURSION tomorrow. A reminder to bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water. We will be leaving at 11:45am and hopefully eating lunch in Civic Park depending on weather. Students may bring some small snacks to eat in the cinemas - no one will be able to purchase items from the candy bar. Students should return to school before the dismissal bell.

11.01.2022 Our Fundraising Committee are hosting a Fathers Day Stall this Thursday 3rd September. Classes will visit the stall with their teacher on the day. Room 1 & 4 and those attending SAPSASA Girls Football will have an opportunity to purchase their gifts on Wednesday.

10.01.2022 A great choir excursion today. We may not have got our amazing concert at the Festival Theatre but what a a fantastic effort by the Primary Schools Music Festival to create a movie experience for the kids. We sang, danced, reclined, clapped and had a great time. It was great to see some of our kids up on the screen and some of our past students still involved in the male voice choir and tapping crew. Thank you to all the helpers and congratulations to everyone involved.

10.01.2022 Friday 25th September is the last day of Term 3. We will be holding a casual clothes day and students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to raise money for Backpacks 4 SA Kids. School will finish at 2pm.

09.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK DEEP BLUE TESTING SITE This week our scientists and engineers worked extremely hard designing craft to test in our Deep Blue testing site.

08.01.2022 Thank you to Callum and Jess from Sprout Cooking School for coming out and running a cooking and nutrition demonstration for our staff this afternoon. We learnt a lot about how to use simple ingredients to make an amazing chicken and lychee red curry and the nutritional benefits of incorporating seasonal produce into our cooking.

07.01.2022 Today a number of our classes took part in a zoom call from Heather Paul, NASA Engineer on the 2024 Orion Capsule Mission to the Moon. Heather spoke to students about space travel, Artemis, Orion and aerospace STEM careers.

06.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK UPDATE Room 5 have been researching Deep Blue sea creatures and their habitats. They made these awesome models of a creature in its habitat to share their learning.

06.01.2022 Don’t forget to pack a hat! With the weather starting to improve don’t forget to send your child to school with a hat in their bag. Once the UV rating is level 3 or above students are required to wear a hat in the yard.

05.01.2022 A reminder that all Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Dance Group and Percussion Ensemble Students will be filming the Surrey Arts Showcase on Monday during normal school hours. Students need to wear their school t-shirt or dress and have dark blue pants or shorts. The dance group also need to bring their costumes for their routines. A reminder letter and order form for the performance video have been sent home today - I will also send the letter via Classdojo. Miss Hurst

04.01.2022 CONCERT INFORMATION Yes the concert will still be going ahead this Thursday with a few new measures in place. To ensure social distancing, each class will come over to the gym at different throughout the day to perform their item and also a section of the finale. Please send your child in their costume on this day as previously planned. If you know your child will not be here on Thursday can you please send Miss Hurst a message in class dojo. Thank you to those that have already done so. After Thursday a video will be made of the entire concert. Once this is done a letter will come home outlining what size USB can be sent it for the concert video to be copied on to. If you have any questions, please message Miss Hurst via class dojo.
