14.05.2022 Sustaining Endeavour are proud to be working with our long term partner, Netafim Australia to get old driplines recycled. #circulareconomy #australianmanufacturing #plasticsrecycling

30.04.2022 Sustaining Endeavour are now excited to be partnering with Netafim Recoil to get old driplines retrieved and recycled for Netafim Customers. https://www.netafim.com.au/irrigation-pro/Recoil/Recycling/

16.04.2022 Love these guys for their wines and their ethos.

03.04.2022 What a good win-win story from the Adelaide Hills. Look forward to assisting Leigh with dripperline recycling soon. https://www.stockjournal.com.au//7146626/hills-herd-loves/

16.03.2022 Gemtree are one of our fantastic dripperline recyclers in the McLaren Vale. They craft beautiful biodynamic wines and they planted and look after a gorgeous eco-trail to explore once we get through this lock down. Look forward to seeing you and your welcoming smile soon Melissa, along with the rest of the gang. https://www.facebook.com/gemtreewines/videos/283646889925757

04.03.2022 It was fantastic to catch up with like-minded locals from across the Eyre Peninsular at yesterday's Food Waste Strategy & Circular Economy Forum in Whyalla, organised by KESAB Environmental Solutions and Green Industries SA. Attending on behalf of SA Organics Recyclers, it was great to hear perspectives from local governments across the Eyre region and to have Feet on the ground experiences including at The Green Economy Store run by Emma Wake and visiting the Peats Whyalla composting facility. A great day bringing together all parts of a regional organics circular economy with a view to expansion.

22.01.2022 In November this year our recycling service saw 16.5 tonnes (275 km) of dripperline recycled from across South Australia: from the Riverland in the North, to the Coonawarra in the South East, and from the McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek on Adelaide’s door-step. This video provides a snapshot of these achievements. Please like and subscribe and share our video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf2F-dOHPEs

22.01.2022 It has been a pleasure to be partnering with the Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster in a shared #WarOnWaste that unites farmers, local businesses and solution providers in tackling discrete #waste problems in #horticulture head on. We held our first workshop recently in Virginia, in the heart of the Northern Adelaide Plains. The resources that came out of the workshop are now available to hopefully assist others in or allied to horticulture. The workshop examined a bioplas...tics solution for avoiding plastic mulch film waste and in building soil health. Thankyou to all who helped us along this journey, especially the farmers profiled for their willingness to try something new and to share their experiences. Watch out for the next installments as we tackle other plastic waste streams! #northernadelaideplains #NAPFoodCluster #AORA #Compost #Bioplastics #Australasianbioplasticsassociaton #BioBagWorldAustralia #GISA #NAWMA #sustainingendeavour #southaustralia #circulareconomy #sustainableagriculture https://www.northernadelaideplains.com.au/waronwaste

20.01.2022 This week is International Compost Awareness Week, which aims to improve awareness about the importance of compositing. To mark this occasion, I'd like to share... with you a little project I've recently been working on. I decided to put together a raised garden bed to plant some herbs and veggies. My generous neighbours Dee Bayder and Harry kindly gave me some of their leftover compost (a mix from SA Composters mixed in with soil from their garden). A friend of ours, Natalya Giffney from SA Composters, also gave me some seedlings and seed. So far I have planted broccoli, kale, chives, coriander, dwarf pea, basil, spring onion, cabbage and cauliflower. I am very excited to see how these beauties grow and I am hoping that I will have some great produce to use in the kitchen and share with friends. I am very thankful for the generosity of neighbours and friends! See more

19.01.2022 Inspiring solutions in this episode of the ABC TV's Australian Story fetauring Charles Massy and other Australian regenerative farmers. Innovation and passion from Ian & Di Haggerty in Western Australia on chemical free grain farming using traditional farm spraying equipment. Numerous benefits this farming approach offers in tackling climate change, restoring fertility to soils and making farms resilient. #soilcarbon #regenerativeagriculture #AORA #compost #circulareconomy https://www.abc.net.au/austory/breaking-new-ground/12697330

19.01.2022 Sustaining Endeavour is organising consignments of driptube for recycling in the last week of May and plan to provide further opportunities in the future. We are presently seeking interest from South Australian winegrowers that have driptube ready for recycling or who expect to in coming months. Details on how to retrieve driptube can be found as a pdf document on our contact page, where growers can also provide details of their driptube for recycling. https://sustainingendeavour.com.au/contact/

15.01.2022 G'day! Just a friendly reminder to growers that now is a good time to take out your dripperline and prepare it for recycling. Please see the guidance link below for how best to prepare your dripperline. Make sure your dripperline is tightly recoiled and is free of wire. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us! https://sustainingendeavour.com.au/guidance/

15.01.2022 Hope everyone is getting into the Fringe Spirit. At Redwing Farm they are. They also grow awesome lentils!

15.01.2022 Pictured at Netafim's Laverton factory in Melbourne are production team members (from Left) Adam Roberts, Lev Le Bruch and Raviv Yosef next to some 32 mm low density polyethylene pipe containing resin derived from South Australian end-of-life dripperline. Netafim Australia & New Zealand

14.01.2022 Just a reminder that the best way to recoil driptube safely into a dense bundle for recycling is with one of these machines, in many cases your local driptube supply store can best advise where you can borrow a machine. Be sure to detach driptube from the wire before you recoil your driptube and secure wire-free bundles in three spots with a length of driptube or with baling twine as an alternative. See the Sustaining Endeavour website for details.

13.01.2022 If you are an SA farmer and you use irrigation tube or pipe please fill out our survey to inform how we will continue to provide our recycling service. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5HWLKSF

11.01.2022 Sharing a happy story to hopefully get a few smiles! https://sustainingendeavour.com.au/fridge-door-musings-on-/

10.01.2022 Please go and check out the blog post we wrote on our website about Tracy Smith from Cradle of Hills Wines. Tracy’s story shows how vital an efficient irrigation system is for a successful harvest. https://sustainingendeavour.com.au/tracys-irrigation-story/

09.01.2022 Here's our story about closed-loop recycling of agricultural plastic dripperline and responsible manufaturing by Netafim Australia. In November 2020 Sustaining Endeavour proudly facilitated the recycling of just over 16 tonnes of dripperline in Adelaide. The high-quality recycled resin from Recycling Plastics Australia (RPA) will be purchased and used by Netafim Australia for use in making Netafim LDPE Pipe.

08.01.2022 I get to speak to some wonderful salt of the earth people when facilitating circular economy driptube recycling for South Australian farmers. Like Rob & Carolyn Rogers of Windemere Vineyards in Langhorne Creek; Rob patiently rebundled the driptube pictured and then drove it to Adelaide for recycling by Recycling Plastics Australia. Just one story of a small 300 kg consignment. A total of 195 tonnes of vineyard driptube (thats over 3 million metres) has been recycled thorugh S...ustaining Endeavour since Dec 2018! Thankyou to all the growers for their recycling efforts and to Recycling Plastics Australia in Adelaide who recycled the driptube into high quality resin, most of which Netafim Australia purchased for use in making Netafim LDPE Pipe. Woodshield also participated and purchased some of the recycled resin for use in their Woodshield Vine Posts. Then there were the regional supply stores like Lawrences Irrigation in the South East and groups like CCW Coop in the Riverland who promote the service. Thankyou also to SA Murray Darling Basin NRM Board for thier recent assistance to growers towards freight costs from the Riverland. Watch the Sustaining Endeavour website for more results soon. #circulareconomy #sustainableagriculture

07.01.2022 Worth sharing...

07.01.2022 Sustaining Endeavour are excited to have Gemtree on board as the Grower Ambassador for our closed loop driperline recycling service. The team at Gemtree have been supporting our service through their recycling efforts since we started in 2016, through good and bad times. In a fluctuating recycling market Melissa and the team have stood by us. Sustaining Endeavour ensures that end-of-life dripperline from South Australian farmers, is recycled into the highest quality resin b...y Recycling Plastics Australia in Adelaide. The resin is then used in making Netafim LDPE Pipe in Melbourne, thanks to Exclusive Sponsor, Netafim Australia. We look forward to our continuing journey together and taking inspiration from Gemtree and their exemplar sustainability and biodiversity practices and ofcourse, their beautifully crafted wines that are in harmony with the beautiful landscape they come from. 07.01.2022 A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR LOCAL FARMERS: Potential floods later this year We have been contacted by the SES - The Bureau of Meteorology has indicated t...hat there is an increase in risk for flooding within the Gawler river in October to November. This is a significant concern for residents and industry. Floods can be devastating in our region. There is a need to consider if you have appropriate insurance where possible and that they are prepared. If you know any farmers in flood impacted areas, please share this with them so that they can consider any actions they can take to minimise impact.

06.01.2022 I can't think of a more satisfying way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Melissa Brown and team at Gemtree have planted over a million native trees and shrubs to create this oasis. Their wine is delcious and a beautiful view from the cellar door. A guided walk through the Gemtree Ecotrail to learn Aboriginal history and native plant life (morning tour) and bird life (afternoon tour) https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/gemtree-ecotrail-walk-talk-

06.01.2022 Happy Day 3 of International Compost Awareness Week! The video below is a worthy celebration of compost in plots now planted with spinach and where compost from Peats Soil & Garden Supplies was trialled a year ago. The kale from the trials went well with considerably improved crop quality, root growth, plant size, evenness of crop, colour, feel, and marketable yield. Now a year later, you can see the spinach planted in the plots from last year’s compost trials are thriving or in Anthony’s words EXPLODING! https://www.facebook.com/VegNET.Tas/videos/2580271748875718/

03.01.2022 Thoroughly recommend this professional AUSMAP course to anyone concerned about #microplastics, it will change and equip you to take action on #oceanpollution with plastic.

03.01.2022 Hoping to gain some new skills to turn the autumn leaves and some kitchen scraps into beautiful compost

01.01.2022 Today we visited Gemtree to discuss the sustainable management of plastic waste in viticulture. We had a wonderful time exploring Gemtree's vineyards, eco-trail and wetlands, and tasting some wine of course! Jacqui, Troy and Melissa were great hosts. Gemtree are motivated to continue increasing the sustainability of their wine production and Sustaining Endeavour is looking forward to working more with them in the near future. Jacqui and Troy from Gemtree are pictured below with Shivani, in front of Gemtree's enclosure that has been established to rehabilitate injured koalas.
