22.01.2022 Child injured - Lilli Pilli About 3.30pm today (Monday 30/11/2020) Sutherland Shire Police attended an accident between a vehicle and a child on Lilli Pilli Point Rd. Initial enquiries have revealed an 8 year old child ran across the road at a pedestrian crossing outside Lilli Pilli Public School as cars were moving across it. She has run into the side of a moving Mercedes sedan. The crossing was controlled by a School Crossing Supervisor at the time, who was off the road. T...he child's mother was on the other side of the crossing when she ran across. The child was conveyed to Sydney Children's Hospital by NSW Ambulance with leg and foot injuries. Sutherland Shire Police are investigating the accident.

21.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - 03/01/20201 - Masks The following measures for Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains) are effective from 03/01/2021; Face masks will be mandatory in the following indoor settings: ... shopping (retail, supermarkets and shopping centres), public/shared transport, indoor entertainment (including cinemas and theatres), places of worship, hair and beauty premises. Face masks will also be mandatory for all staff in hospitality venues and casinos and for patrons using gaming services. Compliance will start from Monday, 4 January 2021 with $200 on the spot fines for individuals for non-compliance. Children under 12 are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable. Gym classes reduced to 30 people. Places of worship and religious services limited to 1 person per 4sqm up to a maximum of 100 people per separate area. Weddings and funerals limited to 1 person per 4sqm up to a maximum of 100 people. Outdoor performances and protests reduced to 500 people. Controlled, outdoor gatherings (seated, ticketed, enclosed) reduced to 2,000 people. Night clubs not permitted. People are still encouraged to limit non-essential gatherings and reduce their mobility where possible to further minimise the risk of transmission in the community. Whilst these measures do not apply to areas outside Greater Sydney (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains), we urge all residents and visitors across the State to practise COVID safe behaviours and get tested even if symptoms are mild. 21.01.2022 Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES, for people in parts of Maitland/Cessnock, Greater Newcastle, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney..., Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRING, MAY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Camden, Campbelltown, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Budgewoi, Belmont, Charlestown and Swansea by 3:25 pm and Sutherland, Bundeena, Engadine and Holsworthy by 3:55 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

20.01.2022 A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner following the death of a man while swimming at Wattamolla in the Royal National Park. Shortly after 5pm (Monday 4 January 2021), emergency services responded to reports that two people had got into difficulties after jumping from a rock ledge into Wattamolla Lagoon. A woman, aged in her 20s, was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital. Her condition is reported as stable.... About 6.20pm, the body of a man, aged 23, was retrieved from the water. Our condolences to the man's family and friends.

18.01.2022 Man arrested after armed robbery - Loftus On Sunday night a 19 year old man was waiting for a train at Loftus Railway Station. He was approached by a male who alledgedly produced a knife and took a neck chain from him. The victim called his mother who attended the railway station and they both followed the man onto a train and demanded the property back. They all alighted at Sutherland Railway Station and continued to follow the male before he threatened them with a knife. S...utherland Shire Police attended the area a short time later, however he was not located. On Monday (04/01/2021) Sutherland Shire Police arrested a 44 year old man at his home in Sutherland. He has been charged with Robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon and Armed with intent to commit indictable offence. He has been refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on 05/01/2021.

17.01.2022 St George Police investigating stolen vehicle in Sydney’s south are appealing to the community for information that may assist with their inquiries. About 2am o...n Friday 6th November 2020 unknown person have stolen a blue Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec with NSW registration number plate ‘EAB58M’, from Arncliffe address. Conservative estimates place the vehicle’s value in excess of $200,000. The vehicle has unique aftermarket parts fitted, including gold coloured wheels, wing mirrors, LED taillights and a grooved bonnet. 16.01.2022 Man arrested for Wilful & obscene exposure - Wanda A 62 year old man was today arrested at Wanda Beach sand dunes. It is alleged he was running up and down the dunes naked. A witness contacted life guards at Wanda who contacted police. The man has been charged with Wilful & obscene exposure and will appear at Sutherland Local Court on 21 January 2021.

15.01.2022 School bus accident - Grays Point At 8.45am today, a school bus travelling along Peninsular Rd Grays Point braked heavily to avoid a collision with a car. About 40 primary aged school children were on the bus at the time. NSW Ambulance attended the bus and Grays Point Public School. 5 children have been conveyed to Sutherland Hospital with minor injuries.... The traffic incident is being investigated by Sutherland Shire Police.

11.01.2022 Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command have located the car of a man missing from Sydney’s east are appealing for public help as they continue to search for him. Ruben Gardiol, aged 67, was last seen by a family member after leaving his house on Clovelly Road, Randwick, about 7.40am last Friday (30 October 2020). Police were notified when Ruben failed to return home that night and have commenced inquiries to locate him.... Concerns are held for his welfare as his disappearance is considered out of character. Ruben is described as being of South American appearance, about 170cm tall, of slim build, with an olive complexion, grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. He was driving a black Holden Commodore utility with NSW registration AG 86 ZV, which was located by police about 2.00pm on Friday 6 November 2020 at Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell. Investigators are appealing to anyone who might have visited Kurnell between 6.30am on Friday 30 October and 2.00pm Friday 6 November 2020 and may have dash-cam footage of Mr Gardiol’s distinctive car travelling in the area to contact police. 09.01.2022 Residents across New South Wales are urged to monitor weather reports and health advice as the state is expected to experience heatwave conditions in the coming days. The Bureau of Meteorology warns temperatures are generally expected to increase over the weekend. As the weather heats up, motorists are also reminded it’s not only an offence for children or pets to be left unattended in a vehicle, it can be deadly.... Everyone needs to take care in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk of heat illness, especially if they are older, live alone or are socially-isolated. Remember to; Stay well-hydrated Avoid alcohol and hot or sugary drinks Limit your physical activity Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from natural fibres like cotton Regularly check your forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology on radio, TV, internet or App Get advice from your doctor about whether your medication and/or your medical conditions may affect what you should do if it gets extremely hot Make sure you know who you are going to call (who may need help, and who could provide help to you if needed); make a list of telephone numbers and make sure they are current. 06.01.2022 P1 driver 65km/h above limit with kids in car - Waterfall A P-plate driver has been caught allegedly driving more than 65km/h above the speed limit with her two children in the vehicle in Waterfall. Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed-enforcement duties on the Princes Highway at Waterfall about 9.35am yesterday (Monday 4 January 2021), when they saw a Mitsubishi SUV allegedly being driven at 147km/h in the signposted 80km/h zo...ne. They directed the 20-year-old woman driving to stop and she produced a P1 licence. Her two children, aged four and two, were in the vehicle at the time. A roadside drug test proved positive and the woman was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station for further testing. The woman, from Busby, has been issued with a traffic infringement notice for exceeding speed by more than 45km/h; her licence was suspended on the spot for six months. Further charges may be laid pending the outcome of the laboratory test. A child-at-risk notification has been made.

02.01.2022 Caringbah South - Charges laid after cocaine, cash and weapons seaized. Police have charged a man after seizing cocaine worth $100,000, more than $46,000 cash and several prohibited weapons at a home in Sydney’s south. About 2.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 November 2020), Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) investigators stopped a blue Range Rover Sport at Port Hacking Road, Caringbah South.... In a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized a set of gold knuckledusters. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station. A short time later, Redfern RES investigators, with assistance from the Central Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) search at a home at Caringbah South. During the search, officers seized a number of prohibited weapons including two replica firearms, a zombie knife, a sheath knife, a compound bow and three additional sets of knuckle dusters. Investigators also seized nearly 234g of cocaine, which has an estimated potential street value of $100,000. Further prohibited drugs including MDMA, cannabis and anabolic steroids, as well as equipment consistent with the supply of illicit substances were seized. More than $46,000 cash and 100 personal identification documents including several NSW drivers’ licences were also seized. All items located during the operation will undergo further examination. The man was charged with 16 offences including; Possess unauthorised firearm (x2), supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), possess prohibited drug (x2), possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x7), deal with property proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), acquire firearm (subject to prohibition order), use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order. The man was refused bail and will next appear at Sutherland Local Court on 30 November 2020.
