23.01.2022 Getting back to my previous post about modern house signs not having to be strictly descriptive, relating to locations, features or architecture etc. They can and should be so much more than that. For example, they can be used to describe your heritage, where you come from, such as this customised sign for two customers in WA based on the Maori flag. 11.01.2022 Why do people name their houses? Prior to house numbers being introduced in Australia in the mid 18th century, the only way to locate a house was through its name. As a result, the name was usually more descriptive and related more to its environment i.e. a particular feature near its locale or something that could be easily seen from there, its history or even its architectural style. Today though, we can be more creative and more personal when it comes to stamping our iD... on our home. What we choose to call it can be reflective of our quirks and nature, our beliefs or religion or simply memories based on what the word Home meant for us when we were young. For example, Im the youngest of six children. The first house my parents had was named Retreat. It was their way of telling their kids that no matter what the reason for them leaving home may have been, this will always be their home and the door would always be open if ever times got hard and they needed to return. Ive been asked more and more lately to make signs for house names and Im more than happy to include these into our catalogue of designs. So if its something youve been thinking about but didnt know where to go to get them, give me a shout. 10.01.2022 Hi everyone. As some of you may know, my official line regarding lead times for signs is 10 working days from payment to dispatch. To be honest, its never been that - it's typically been 1-4 days. However, I should say that during these stage 4 restrictions and the cumulative affects on businesses and everybody's life in general, deliveries will probably take longer than normal. Aside from some of my suppliers now implementing their own restrictions (reducing their staff, sto...pping deliveries, closing trade counters etc), Australia Post and Sendle (who I mainly use) are also issuing notices to businesses warning them to expect delays. Please bear with me if your signs take a little bit longer to reach your door during these difficult times but trust me, I'll do my level best to get them to you as soon as I can. In the meantime, stay safe, stay home if you have to and let's get through this as quickly as we can together. Doug. See more

10.01.2022 These stencil cut house number signs were the first type I started to design and develop. I think relegated them to the "Maybe" folder on my hard drive because they weren't shiney enough LOL. I did this sign last week for a customer and have to admit that I still have a fondness for them - especially the white on black. Thank you Loveleen for letting me share these photos. In the process of building a new house and somewhat dismayed at all the white paper pieces in neighbours windows with their door numbers on.....even 2 year on! Well we wanted something stylish and in keeping with our home design. After a lot of searching online we came accross SW2 and are glad we did. Speedy and simple design on their website followed by an email the next day advising that they were on... the job and should have it processed in no time at all. Only needed to contact to confirm which delivery company they use and whilst we prefer Auspost so we can use 24hr parcel lockers we were able to redirect to the in-laws so they could sign on our behalf (couriers often don't even attempt delivering to the apartment blocks). Quality is amazing and can't wait to put it on the front when the house is finished. Highly recommend SW2 for their speed, quality & communication. 01.01.2022 Sometimes simple just works. We went through a few mockups to finally arrive at this design but it was worth the time spent in the end. If you're not sure which colour combinations to choose for your sign to match your facade, maybe just opt for an elegant, clear acrylic plate and black text like this.
