25.01.2022 Una Bell was the very deserving recipient of the Dr Ian Colquhoun Lifetime Achievement Award at our recent event celebrating 20 years of SALP. 1998 heralded the beginning of a 20-year relationship between Una Bell and Bugle Tree Gully Park. Una was part of the inaugural funding round of SALP, with a successful grant of $5,000, she commenced her journey to transform a degraded creekline into a beautiful habitat for many species - giving back Bugle Tree Gully Park its environ...mental integrity. To this day Una continues to maintain the park, attracting further investment and commitment from the Shire of Mundaring to enhance the park’s environmental values. Walk and talks are conducted by Una regularly where she expounds the restorative history of this site to the community and gives credit to the funding that kick-started the process. Well done Una!
24.01.2022 Zac Hardisty was the winner of the Budding Landcare Award at our recent 20 year celebrations. Zac is a volunteer with the Friends of Lake Claremont (FOLC) group, a conservation group involved in the restoration and enhancement of the Conservation Category Wetland and categorized Bush Forever Site. Zac has been volunteering with the Friends group since 2009 and in 2013 Zac stepped up into a supervisory/team leader role where he led groups of volunteers at planting sessions, ...instructing them on planting techniques and giving safety briefings as well as making seasoned and new volunteers and first time visitors to the Lake feel welcome and valued. Zac has planted over 5000 plants himself whilst enabling other members of the community to enjoy their experience and contribution to Lake Claremont. Well done Zac!
