They all had a wonderful time learning how to use the different materials to create new objects. Thank you Mr Leaver!

18.01.2022 Year 12s recently visited the Junior School for a trip down memory lane. This is the last week for the Year 12s at the College as they will be moving on to the next chapter of their journey, and the visit was a chance for them to remember their early years in Junior School, starting as four year olds. Our Dean of Year 12, Mrs Rachel Allsop, said they marvelled at the tiny chairs and how their fruit corner had seemed so much bigger before. "The tears started before we left ...the Senior School as two of our girls realised that their time here was coming to an end. However, they managed to compose themselves and share some of their stories with some of the Year 1 children. The emotion is now palpable for the majority of our exiting graduates as they move into their last few days here," Mrs Allsop recounted. We will miss you Year 12s, and we wish you well for the coming exams!

13.01.2022 Year 12 Last Day on Thursday was a wonderful send-off of the Year 12s with a breakfast on the oval, final day assembly, morning tea, and student assembly. Some of them had been at Swan Christian College since Kindergarten, and there were a few tears and emotions bubbling up on the day. Here are some photos capturing the special farewell. We will miss you Year 12s! Thank you for all that you have contributed to the College. It has been a privilege and honour to know and teach you. Our thoughts and prayers go with all of you as you embark on the next part of your journey.

12.01.2022 Year 3s, 4s, 5s and 6s participated in hands-on maths activities in the Professor Maths and World of Maths programs. The activities teach students social skills, how to listen, to follow directions, to take turns, to cooperate, communicate and to plan ahead. Some activities incorporate aspects of science and the environment offering a more rounded and practical understanding of mathematics. Students have the time and freedom to pursue their own paths in trying to solve... the problems. The students can experience mathematics related to practical and real-life situations. It helps develop skills necessary to work in small groups as an effective way of learning mathematics. It allows the students to interact, which can boost their confidence and promotes positive attitudes towards mathematics. While they learned important mathematical and social skills, they also had lots of fun along the way! See more

06.01.2022 $3,484.35 raised for cancer research! Last Friday, a Cupcake fundraiser and Casual for a Cause Day was held to raise money for the Cancer Council and Principal Adrian Scotts Cancer 200 Ride for Research. 900 cupcakes were baked in total by our Year 6 and Year 12 students as well as some Hospitality students. The ingredients were generously donated by our SCC Parent Community. "It was a fun and joyful experience for all who had participated. We had so much fun decorating and... icing the cupcakes, and we may have had a little snack along the way," said Nikki of Year 6. The Year 12s chose to support the Cancer Council this year and they demonstrated a willingness to serve with many students helping to sell cupcakes, bake them and some students even washing dishes for four hours. Students and staff donated a gold coin to come in free dress, and 600 cupcakes were sold and a total of $3,484.35 was raised. A quilt which was donated by Mr Scotts friend was also silently auctioned for $335. The funds will be donated to the Cancer Council and Mr Scotts Cancer 200 Ride for Research who will be riding 200km in October to raise funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. 04.01.2022 Meet the talented cast of ANTIGONE. "My name is Oliver Stewart. I play the role of Eteocles in this adapted version of Antigone. This is my fourth show involved with Fenceline theatre, and this is my first professional show performing at the Fringe Festival. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of playing Eteocles, as it has forced me out of my comfort zone. I thoroughly enjoy doing drama and theatre because of the complex duplicity of creating a different character. I als...o enjoy creating new emotions which gives me a better understanding of myself. For this year I have decided to defer my units to UWA and Curtin to better decide what I want to do. I believe I will choose Anthropology and Human Management." FRINGE WORLD Tickets for ANTIGONE from 2 - 6 February in the Maali Mia are on sale and selling quickly at https://fringeworld.com.au//antigone-sophocles-adaptation-, invite your friends and book them before they sell out!

Thank you to students and teachers for organising a poignant Remembrance Day Assembly to honour those who have fought and sacrificed in wars and armed conflicts.
