This article is the first in a new collaboration between Sweatshop and Kill Your Darlings to bring some of Australia’s most dynamic POC writers to the forefront of Australian literature.

05.01.2022 ‘There’s no doubt that we are Egyptian enough to play terrorists, criminals and grave robbers. Yet the moment we have a chance at royalty, our ethnicity becomes too complicated for just an Egyptian to play.’ The latest article in our ongoing collaboration with SBS Voices is this refreshing, complex and nuanced piece by Sweatshop Writer, Daniel Nour. A must-read!

03.01.2022 After six months of social distancing, we are so excited to announce our return to running creative writing workshops in Western Sydney high schools. To kick things off, over the next ten weeks Winnie Dunn, Stephen Pham, Phoebe Grainer and Michael Mohammed Ahmad will be mentoring a culturally diverse collective of students from Leumeah High School. All the writing the students develop during this residency will be featured in an anthology, podcast, video and public mural about racism, which will be released in 2021. Thank you to our official partner, Campbelltown City Library, for supporting this initiative. Please visit the Sweatshop website to find out more about our school residencies program and upcoming projects.
