17.01.2022 sweetTALKwa HAS A NEW TOY!!! This hive lifter will save us from back injury as these hives weigh around 80Kg. Enjoy the video, it's like watching a magic show.... On Sunday we moved 9 hives out to Pinjarra. The property has a plum tree orchard currently in bloom and is surrounded by dense bushland. Such a beautiful setting for our bees, we are very fortunate to have this property made available to us.

16.01.2022 It is Canola time again Who else loves seeing the yellow fields? A big big thank you to our friend Coralie Green for letting us put our hives on her property... 2 weeks ago we took the first load of bees out and today we dropped off the second load. Had a quick peek inside some of the hives and was excited to see the bees filling up the frames with nectar . The bees have been very busy which means we should have some more canola creamed honey available soon Huge thank you to our bee buddies Casey Hammer, Shane and Lewis for helping us out while Aaron is away for work

12.01.2022 Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The Australian and Ne...w Zealand forces landed on Gallipoli on 25 April, meeting fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. More than 8,000 Australian soldiers had died in the campaign. Gallipoli had a profound impact on Australians at home, and 25 April soon became the day on which Australians remembered the sacrifice of those who died in the war. During the 1920s Anzac Day became established as a national day of commemoration for the more than 60,000 Australians who had died during the war. During the First World War, red poppies were among the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium. In soldiers' folklore, the vivid red of the poppy came from the blood of their comrades soaking the ground. The sight of poppies on the battlefield at Ypres in 1915 moved Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae to write the poem In Flanders fields . In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. #anzacday #lestweforget #savethebees #beethecure

11.01.2022 Who else has had this problem??

10.01.2022 Happy Friday sweet talkers! How lovely was today

08.01.2022 The Dogs and the Bees. Both enjoying sunshine, fresh air and the flowers that are vital to so many insects as the first food source coming out of winter. Bees especially rely on these plants as a boost to build population and be ready for the honey flow.

08.01.2022 Another sunny winter day yesterday meant another day beekeeping Early start this time to a beautiful property 3hrs from home. Was so happy to see all the hives doing extremely well with plenty of honey stores to get them through winter. There also seems to be a very late or super early bloom on some Jarrah trees which are keeping the bees busy!... -Kelly

08.01.2022 ANZAC day 2020. Lest we forget

02.01.2022 Had a fun afternoon branding some of our frames! Winter is a perfect time to get these types of jobs done. The Bees may have slowed down but us Beekeepers keep going preparing for spring

02.01.2022 Busy day for us inspecting our hives on this beautiful winter day! Went to two properties and I'm thankful I had my bee buddy (aka our daughter, Leah) helping me out Bees keep the inside temperature of their hive around 35C (amazing little creatures!!) so although the sun was shining we still needed to be mindful of the outside temperature and only open up a hive if we felt it was necessary. ... Leah took these photos of inside a hive from today. Was happy to see brood (baby bees still growing ) and nectar/capped honey. This is exactly what I look for when doing a quick inspection during winter so I know they are going okay. -Kelly
