17.01.2022 Less than 2 weeks until Port Macquarie Ironman. Many athletes would be experiencing some odd symptoms as they dial back their training. Cold like symptoms, some fatigue, nerves, doubts and it just feels strange to not be training for 20 hours a week. These are all completely normal. My advice for anyone during taper is to ensure you get plenty of sleep, eat well, train smart not hard, keep up on your vitamin C intake and most importantly just relax and enjoy the journey. You've done the work. I can't wait to see the Swim Ride Run Live team members out on course. Good Luck team

09.01.2022 One Week to go until the big dance for so many athletes. Whatever your goals may be. Kona, sub 10hr, a PB or to finish. The great thing about endurance events like this, is that you’re all out there together sharing in each others journey. There’s nothing but respect amongst the athletes. Quick Tips: 1.Start near the front on the swim. Use those that pass you as a drafting advantage 2. I’d use 25mm Tyres and a 28 cassette. Comfort is th...e key to holding pace for long periods and protecting fatigue on the climbs. 3. Spin the legs on the climbs. There’s a time to push but the hills are not the time. 4. Tape your front hydration down and your tool bottle. It can get bumpy out there so tape anything down that could bounce out. 5.It can get surprisingly humid so stay well hydrated and stick to your nutrition plan. Use km markers or time as reminders to input fuel. 6. High five every spectator you can out on the run course. Use their energy to fuel yours. It’s amazing how much it will help boost you up. 7. Pace yourself and resist temptations to push. Remain calm and run a controlled rhythm. 8. Most importantly enjoy yourself. You’ve put in months of work so soak it up and enjoy it.
