25.01.2022 On Saturday Aspley Swimming Club held their Annual Trophy Night... virtually! There is no better example of the enthusiasm, creativity, resilience and tenacity that makes our community as amazing as it is. It was a fantastic way to showcase the swimmers' achievements and to reflect on all the fun from the season. There were video appearances, a fantastic photo slide show, and trophies! 25.01.2022 We have always indicated that our return to the pool would probably be in Term 3. However with some recent announcements in the media we thought wed just clarify our decision and the rationale behind it. An earlier announcement about pools re-opening referred to non-organised and non-contact swimming, with only one person per lane allowed in the pool, for Swim Solutions, re-opening wouldnt have been viable, and with schools having restrictions on people allowed on school g...rounds, we were unable to operate anyway. However, you may have heard the great news that on Friday the Queensland Government gave approval to the aquatics industry to start getting lessons and squads back in the pool. This is great news as it means were heading toward a Term 3 re-opening as planned We will remain closed in June and July (as previously planned) but will start back with the warmer weather in August! Were sure that this extended break from the pool will equal lots of excited swimmers and teachers! While we have been on this break our staff have been busy reflecting on our program and teaching, have been participating in industry webinars and professional development, to ensure that we continue to deliver the best lessons and squad programs that we can when it's go time. 24.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION - NEW POOL SAFETY PROCEDURES In line with the current advice from authorities Swim Solutions intends to continue this term’s lessons until that advice changes. We are following the community sport guidelines published yesterday https://www.sportaus.gov.au//minister-for-sport-issues-cov The key reasons that we are comfortable operating at this time are that we are an outdoor facility, the pool is disinfected with chlorine, we can provide hand washing f...acilities and we have the ability for families to sit apart from each other. As always, the safety of our customers and staff is paramount so Swim Solutions are: 1. Following the advice received from our peak bodies ASCTA (Australian Swim Teachers and Coaches Associations) & Swim Australia, this advice is that the virus cannot survive in suitably chlorinated pools. We are monitoring water quality very closely. 2. Disinfecting common hand-touched areas regularly (this commenced on Monday and is additional to our normal cleaning processes). 3. Keeping swimmers moving as much as possible to minimise the amount of time that swimmers are static while in close proximity. What we ask YOU to do: 1. Please ensure that you wash hands before entering the pool gate and upon leaving. The school has offered to keep the adults toilets (adjacent to the pool) open for parents to utilise for this purpose only. *Please do not use the toilets as they will have already been cleaned and the school has very strict guideline about maintaining facilities at this time (if required you will need to use the pool toilets). Swimmers will not need to wash as they will be in the chlorinated pool. 2. Please follow social distancing guidelines and seat yourself approximately 1.5m away from other families. 3. If you or your children are the least bit unwell, please stay home to avoid sharing germ unnecessarily (even if your illness is unrelated to COVID-19). 23.01.2022 Hi Parents, We had penned an email last night to send this morning advising that we were not continuing operating, and then last night the Prime Minister announced that all pools must close from midnight tonight. We have decided to cease operations immediately, therefore there will be NO SWIMMING TODAY, and until further notice. Additionally, we have decided that we will not advertise a Term 2 program at this time because we honestly don’t expect that we will be able to oper...ate for some time. If that changes, rest assured, we will be in touch! Thank you to everyone who has communicated their concern for our staff and our business. 22.01.2022 It's SwimSAFER Week! No measure can ever guarantee that children are safe in, on and around water. It is only human for adults to sometimes lapse in their supervision of children in the home or while out and about. Children can and do find ways over fences, and even those who have had swimming lessons can still drown. For this reason the SwimSAFER message promotes the application of various layers to protect children from drowning - if one layer ‘fails’ then there is another ...behind it that may save their life. The layers of protection are: Be Aware Be Secure Be Confident Be Prepared All the layers of protection need to be employed at the one time to ensure optimal water safety. In March 2009, the American Medical Association’s Archives of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine reported a study by the USA’s National Institute from Health that concluded: Participating in formal swimming lessons was associated with an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning in children between the ages of 1 to 4.

14.01.2022 ** IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE - HOLIDAY PROGRAMS ** The Queensland Premier and Chief Health Officer have announced a 3 day lockdown from 6.00pm today until 6.00pm Monday, which means that we will be unable to commence our holiday program on Monday. If the lockdown is lifted Monday evening, then we plan to commence Block 1 on Tuesday and run through until Friday. However, we will not confirm the new arrangements until further advice from the Queensland Government, so we will em...ail again sometime Monday once further announcements are made.
