25.01.2022 The Pirates are pleased to announce that Good Sport Consultancy (GSC), founded by popular basketball administrator, Joe Tertzakian will join the association on a 6-month contract in a Venue, Program and Operations capacity. Big Joe, as he is affectionately known, joins the Pirates and will play a major part in implementing NBL1 Operations and Game Presentation, Venue Utilisation and Process, Sponsorships and Services as well as developing a high level of Customer Service acro...ss the board. It is very exciting to have Big Joe join the Pirates President, Keith Anthony said. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge, an extensive network and experience at all levels of basketball in Australia. His relationships skills and experience in making game night pop, are just two of many things we are looking forward to see at The Pirate Ship. Joe has successfully managed operations of all Basketball South Australia venues in his previous role which will assist in ensuring Hibiscus Stadium operations and processes are up to date, the venue booking system updated and the venue is used to its full potential. He also has worked with three NBL teams, The Brisbane Bullets, Gold Coast Blaze and the Adelaide 36ers across 16 seasons in various operations, venue, sponsorship, events and senior management roles. I see boundless potential at Hibiscus Stadium and within the South West Association and am excited to add a bit of gloss over an already well polished machine to take us to the next level and hope to simply lighten the load of Rob, Steve and Chris to enable them to focus more on their specific roles. The Board are switched on, they are driven, they have a great vision and I’m thankful for the opportunity and the faith they have put in me to help deliver on their visions. Joe will start on Monday 15th February. Please welcome Joe to The Ship!

14.01.2022 It's a wrap! In 15 days we had State Champs for our U12's, U14's and U16's in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay in the midst of a pandemic! We finshed with two bronze medals in U16 Boys and a Gold in U14 Boys. Well done to all! During this crazy couple of weeks we had 28 coaches and 14 managers take part in State Champs. 08.01.2022 A REMINDER TO ALL EXISTING SOUTH WEST METRO BASKETBALL MEMBERS: Have you received a reminder about your player registration expiring? Is it really due to expire? Read on: Due to the pause in Basketball operations, the SWM/BQ registrations that were current as at 13/3/20 were updated automatically with an extra 120 days. Basketball Qld manually extracted over 20000 members across Qld, to send in for processing to SportsTG, to make the changes to your expiry dates. However, th...is hasn’t stopped the automatic reminders going out for the original renewal date (ex-Covid), so please disregard them. If you want to check your own information, you can log onto: member.basketball.net.au Alternatively, if the registration is for a Junior Club member, contact your Club for the information. You can also email [email protected] if you are a Senior or Independent player. Please do not just create a new profile and pay it again, as you will ultimately lose money when, and if, you request a refund. SportsTG/BA take a small (non-refundable) percentage of every registration that is processed BEFORE we get the funds, so neither Basketball Qld, nor South West Metro, will refund these amounts to you, as both entities don't receive the whole amounts that you pay. There is plenty of time to register before our competitions recommence in January or February, so double-check your expiry dates first.

06.01.2022 Last round of QSL ..... that season went quick! Both our QSL2 men's teams had double headers this weekend with both teams going 1 from 2. Both winning their second game by 2 points! Well done! Pirates A vs Phoenix 78 - 97... Pirates B vs Toowoomba 73 - 89 Pirates A vs Gold Coast 71 - 69 Pirates B vs Suns 78 - 76 Our QSL1 women had a close fought battle with Phoenix. Bree Farley once again with a double double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. A win to Phoenix by 8. The final shot of the season was a 3 pointer from Amanda Beatson. This may be Amanda's last game before retiring so a great way to finish a great career! She has played 4 season for the Pirates with 63 games. Our QSL1 men had a tough task against the Phoenix. Having to not only win but beat them by 13 points to make finals. We were up by as much as 8 with a minute or so to go. JK tried all the tricks in the book to get us over the line but unfortunately time got us and we just couldn't make it. We finished 7th, one place out of the finals.

06.01.2022 Well done to all teams who participated in grading over the weekend. Our teams did us proud !!
