25.01.2022 We love seeing this kind of innovative technology bringing wrecks to life for people who cant dive, one of our proposals is to include a camera on the Sydney Dive Wreck to let everyone see the wildlife that visits.

24.01.2022 Wednesday wreck inspo! Have you signed the petition for a dive wreck off Sydney? Let us know in the comments what suburb you are in and we can tell you were the closest place to sign is #sydney #wreckdiving

24.01.2022 Gorgeous day for the Kirribilli Markets! Make sure to let your North shore friends know to come and say hello. If you cant join us today please speak to your local dive shop and follow this page to find other opportunities to support Sydney Dive Wreck

23.01.2022 Even these brand new wrecks look pretty spectacular, we can only imagine what it will be like once they are teaming with life! Follow us for more information about how to support a dive wreck off Sydney, or if you are in Syndey speak to your local dive shop.

23.01.2022 Anecdotally all divers will tell you about the amazing marine life found on wrecks and this study provides evidence that artificial reefs, placed on bare sand like our proposed site, are good for fishing stocks in the area! Prof Iain Suthers is an scientific adviser to the Sydney Dive Wreck committee and ensures our proposal is scientifically and environmentally sound. Let us know in the comments if youre more interested in the environmental benefits, the tourism benefits or the chance to dive a new site...

22.01.2022 Come and join us and the Mayor of Randwick Danny Said at Coogee family fun day, an opportunity to sign the petition and discuss with our volunteers any questions you have

21.01.2022 Monday wreck inspo in this amazing video. Have you signed the petition for a dive wreck in Sydney?

21.01.2022 The advantage of a purpose sunk wreck is it can be cleaned and made safe for divers first. This means that wildlife are safe to use the artificial reef from the beginning.

20.01.2022 Another example of how artificial reefs can be used for both a tourist attraction and to provide habitats for marine life. Selecting a barren area, such as our proposed site off Coogee, provides new colonisation areas and nurseries for local species.

20.01.2022 NSW government will be discussing a dive wreck for Sydney next month so now is the time to write to your MP to express your support. For more information on our proposal please check our website or comment below. Follow this page for further updates - we will share the date once we know it!

19.01.2022 With increasing public knowledge and interest in shipwrecks having one off Sydney seems like the perfect, eco friendly tourist attraction. Preserving history instead of sending it for scrap! What do you think?

19.01.2022 Our amazing volunteers giving up their time to discuss a dive wreck in Sydney - come and speak to them on Stand 68 at Australia International Dive Expo, Aug 1-5 2019

16.01.2022 We've shared it before and we'll share it again! We love this creative artificial reef - if you want to see an artificial reef and dive wreck off Sydney please like and follow our page to find out more about how to support our campaign

16.01.2022 Great examples of how the dive industry can impact a local community and have a wider impact on the economy. As Kim Huish, president of the BVI Dive Operators Association, says an increase in tourist traffic to the dive outfits will in turn benefit the taxi services, restaurants, bars and hotels that enable visitors to access these dive companies in the first place" Have you signed the Sydney Dive Wreck petition? If not let us know in the comments and we can help you!

16.01.2022 Gorgeous photo of the ex-HMAS Adelaide, like this site up the coast our proposed dive wreck has the potential of 100+ years of useful life. With very low post sinking costs, high economic benefit, and significant recreational, research and environmental benefits for years to come. Put your voice behind the campaign by writing to your local MP, it can really make all the difference! We've made it really easy - find a sample letter here: https://www.sydneydivewreck.com.au/support-us/

15.01.2022 A great article exploring many of the advantages we're also seeking in Sydney. As they say "A ship sold for scrap will yield a one-time, short-term dividend, a ship sunk as an artificial reef will provide dividends for over 100 years as an abundant fishing ground and also give back millions of dollars in foreign revenue to the country from the tourist divers who come to visit the wreck"

15.01.2022 Exploring the ex HMAS Adeladie with Nays Baghai, 2020 winner of the Best Australian documentary at the Sydney Film Festival. An atmospheric taster of what wreck diving locally can be like! Please like our page to be kept informed and support a Dive Wreck for Sydney

15.01.2022 Scuba divers, once youve written to your MP to express your support for a dive wreck for Sydney, then you can get practicing these hand signals! MPs are set to discuss our proposal in November so its important we let them know the level of support this month #sydneydivewreck #wreckdiving

14.01.2022 Read the story in the @tasteofcoogee magazine and find out how to support our campaign #gordonsbayscubadivingclub #dive #scuba #internationalattraction #destinationcoogee #divewreck #boostthelocaleconomy

13.01.2022 Weve shared it before and well share it again! We love this creative artificial reef - if you want to see an artificial reef and dive wreck off Sydney please like and follow our page to find out more about how to support our campaign

13.01.2022 Great to see another ship saved from scrap and providing habitats for underwater species and recreational diving opportunities

12.01.2022 So sad to see this end for the HMAS Darwin, such an iconic name would have been fantastic to preserve as a dive site.

12.01.2022 Feeling inspired by this article and sad that there are currently no wrecks in Sydney within recreational diving limits that I can get some practice in on. Support a Dive Wreck for Sydney and let us know in the comments where you took your favourite wreck shots

12.01.2022 Where are you diving this weekend? While you are there make sure to ask your local dive shop about the petition for a Sydney Dive Wreck, if they dont already have one for you to sign let us know and we can provide one! Awesome shot here from the HMAS Adelaide off the central coast by Rising Tide Lab

11.01.2022 Thanks for the support Aussie Bubbles, as you say a boat in Sydney would provide research opportunities for local universities, an artificial reef structure providing habitats and shelter for a range of species, plus a boost to local tourism! Sounds like a win, win, win to us

09.01.2022 Some of our fantastic volunteers will be at Shire Farmers Market this Saturday 8am - 1pm, if you havent already signed the physical petition this is your opportunity. Its only these physical signatures or direct letters that count to MPs (although we love seeing the online support grow). If you want to support a Sydney Dive Wreck please share this post and encourage your friends to get down there this weekend. Let us know in the comments if we will see you there

09.01.2022 The Randwick City Council 20 year plan includes a focus in Places for People on enhancing recreation and leisure facilities in the region and protecting biodiversity - we think thats a double tick for a dive wreck off Coogee . If you agree please spread the word - you should be able to sign a petition for Sydney Dive Wreck at your local dive shop or follow this page to find out where we will be next

09.01.2022 Some wreck inspo in this list to keep us entertained until we are able to travel again. #staysafe

08.01.2022 We cannot get our dive wreck without full commitment from the NSW government. Put your voice behind the campaign by writing to your local MP, it can really make all the difference! We've made it really easy - find a sample letter here: https://www.sydneydivewreck.com.au/support-us/

08.01.2022 We had such a successful time at AIDE last weekend, weve made it past 12,500 signatures! The most important thing for the campaign now is to show wide-ranging interest in the proposal - if you see this post please share it and invite interested friends to follow this page for more info on how they can demonstrate their support for a Dive Wreck off Sydney

08.01.2022 Great to hear that this disaster will have a positive end from a tourism and environmental perspective. Dive wrecks form artificial reefs, which positively impact aquatic wildlife in the area #sydneydivewreck

07.01.2022 Calm before the storm - looking forward to meeting all the dive enthusiasts over the next 4 days - come to stand 68 to say hi and show your support for a dive wreck in Syndey

07.01.2022 In our last post we talked about the effect artificial reefs, like wrecks, can have on sealife. This amazing clip filmed on the the ex-HMAS Brisbane last month shows just how magical that makes diving these sites! Comment if youd love to do this dive

06.01.2022 After 32 years of service, this was the ignoble end of HMAS Sydney. We think continued use as a dive wreck and artificial reef is a far better option for such retired warriors.

06.01.2022 Our proposal for a dive wreck off Sydney has environmental, financial and recreational benefits. The proposed site has a bare sandy bottom and this would provide new habitats for local species. You can show support by signing a physical petition if you havent already done so then we will be at Shire Farmers Market this Saturday 8am-1pm. Put any questions in the comments, or see you there!

06.01.2022 Very sad to hear about the cancellation of the Ocean Lovers Festival, these are scary times and we need to do what we can to keep everyone safe. If you would like to sign our petition for a Dive Wreck off Sydney please send us a PM with your email and we will send you the file to download, sign and post back to us.

05.01.2022 The Kirribilli General Market features approximately 220 stalls. As the name suggests, you will find pretty much anything at this market - including us! Weather for tomorrow is looking great, if you are in the area make sure to swing by Kirribilli Markets to speak with our wonderful volunteers, find out how you can help and sign the petition.

04.01.2022 Gearing up for an amazing few days at Australia International Dive Expo, Aug 1-5 2019 If you are a diver in Syndey this is the place to be this weekend, come and say hi to our volunteers at Stand 68 and look at some of the amazing trips on offer throughout the exhibition. With your support, we hope that in the not too distant future youll be able to book a wreck dive right here in Sydney!

04.01.2022 Having spent the weekend at a dive expo and boat show we have seen first hand just how many people are passionate about these interests. Our proposal for a Sydney Dive Wreck forecasts revenue over five years of $12.4M (low) and $48.6M (high) at a one off cost of $6M-$10M, with government cuts to Destination NSW this could be the perfect boost for the region. Speak to your local dive shop and follow this page to find opportunities to support our plans. https://www.smh.com.au//tourism-heavyweights-warn-nsw-gove

03.01.2022 Gorgeous photos from Malta giving us wreck inspo today - where was your favourite wreck dive? Have you signed the petition for a dive wreck off Sydney? Head to the website for more info

03.01.2022 Amazing shipwreck inspiration here! If you'd like to see a Dive Wreck for Sydney make sure to write to your representative to ask them to support the bill when it goes to Parliament

02.01.2022 Ecological monitoring on the HMAS Adelaide showed that diversity of fish species increased from 3 to 17 in the first six months after scuttling. Now over 5 years later you can see the sheer quantity of life living on its surface in this gorgeous photo by Rising Tide Lab. Our proposal for a dive wreck off Sydney will have the same ecological benefits and provide an amazing opportunity for research by Sydney universities.

02.01.2022 This time next week we'll be down at Bondi gathering signatures. Put it in your diary to come by for a chat and to add your name to our supporters if you haven't already

02.01.2022 If you havent signed yet we will be in Coogee this Saturday. We now have over 13,500 signatures ... hopefully we can reach 15,000 before MP for Coogee , Marjorie ONeill, tables the petition in Parliament! Let us know in the comments if you will be coming down
