To say I’m a completely transformed musician and performer under Amelia’s tutelage is quite simply an understatement. I truly could not imagine myself reaching my optimum performance without her guidance. From a technical perspective, Amelia is past the point of having exemplary understanding; she is a complete expert of vocal technique. Her consistent dedication to mentoring her students at any which level is what reflects how much she truly prioritises passing on everything she has acquired from her extraordinary career. As predicted, there were tears!! Huge congratulations to winner Cleo Lee-McGowan (off to study at Guildhall in London), 2nd Juliette di Bello (off to Juilliard NY) and 3rd Michelle Ryan As an Ambassador for Sydney Eisteddfod, I would also like to congratulate the supremely gifted finalists, it was a very high standard this year.

08.01.2022 Hey there! We hope you are well and able to continue your work in these challenging times. After a few months online, happily here at Sydney Sings we are back to life as usual. We have a great new studio in Neutral Bay, sponsored by the SEABORN BROUGHTON & WALFORD Foundation. Its such a joy to be using a grand piano! Ive also continued my teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. ... Ive recently been in touch with Sydney Sings beautiful soprano, Ms Juliette di Bello who has been studying at Juilliard School in New York. Juliette has been home during Covid but continuing all her studies online. You can read about her here: Juliette receives a wonderfully comprehensive education at Juilliard which prepares her for the operatic stage. She sees her major teacher, Edith Wiens, for an hour of intense technical work a week, and then sees a variety of other coaches one on one in order to work on repertoire. She studies a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque to the contemporary, but with an emphasis on Bel Canto tradition. Juliette also studies dance and acting each week, both of which are essential to the modern singer. In addition, she takes music theory and music history, both of which broaden her musicianship, as well as liberal arts courses. Juliette also studies languages at Juilliard, both grammatically and in terms of diction, so there a specific understanding of both speaking and singing. Stay well! 04.01.2022 A little note from Juliette Di Bello in NY! Juilliard is an amazing environment in which to grow, and while extremely challenging it is so rewarding. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to coach with the staff here, many of whom also coach at the Metropolitan Opera, and to benefit from their wisdom. The variety of the classes offered is second to none, and as well as the private coachings and lessons (sometimes there can be as many as eight a week), singers here have ins...truction in music theory and ear training, acting, dance, interpreting text and philosophy, and intense diction and language studies. The level expected is incredibly high, but while strict, the teachers and coaches are so invested in bringing out the best in someone both as a technician and as an artist. I could not have dreamed of a better environment in which to develop, and am so grateful for the experience of attending this unbelievable school and becoming a part of the Juilliard community.
