Tonight she sat at attention on the model dias waiting for everyone to arrive and when the model arrived she found a handy artist's jacket for her well earned rest after 'organizing' us artists. :)

21.01.2022 Life drawing in action is a joy to see. We live in a sea of cameras yet the magic of a drawing made by the hand of the artist continues to enchant us, and the desire to make art is as great today as it was before the invention of photography. We are naturally creative beings.

20.01.2022 Every easel tells a story... every artist dreams of that elusive perfect drawing that we all strive for. In a busy studio each artist has their solitary vision, their individual universe of searching for a creative truth. If an easel could talk it would tell about passion and dedication. It is wonderful to be in the life drawing studio sharing in the many art stories.

Life drawing has a long tradition since the Renaissance. Today life drawing is just as popular as it has ever been. We love our time with the model.

19.01.2022 On a cold wintry night in which blizzards are dropping snow in the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands we are keeping the fires of artistry blazing in the studio. No amount of cold can stop the artists need to create.

14.01.2022 Artists are unpredictable but I love them. Tonight at start time there was just me and the model but one at a time they came in and the studio got that sound of music and buzzy feeling of creative juices flowing that makes sketch club so much fun.

07.01.2022 Humans have used charcoal for 100,000 years. After all this time it is still as rewarding for a modern artist in an electrically lit studio as it was for prehistoric artists in a cave lit by fire. Charcoal can be beautifully expressive, sensitive yet powerful.

06.01.2022 Life drawing is fundamental to visual arts. As feeling human beings our favorite subject is depicting other feeling people. This urge to draw, paint, and photograph humanity is as ancient as art is. The earliest cave art contains figures. At Sydney Art Class we explore and celebrate this timeless need to create with passion and love for art. Hopefully our cave ancestors would approve.

06.01.2022 Art is cooking in the studio. Outside it is a cold wintery night but in here the heat of creativity is making delicious new flavors as artists deal with the age old struggle to depict the human figure.

05.01.2022 Artist's eyes are very special. On the one hand they look intently, absorbing the beauty in the human form and on the other hand they are the window to the creative universe within. Sensitive, searching, full of soul, these are what artist's eyes are made of. Life drawing is on now and artist's eyes are at work.

02.01.2022 Tonight sketch club is being held in the middle of an art installation. The artists are surrounded by the artist's creative vision in which musician Lou Reed is knitted into jumpers. Pop culture and wool are keeping us warm as we draw :) come see the exhibition at TAP Gallery (opens tomorrow night) and see you at sketch club next week :)

02.01.2022 Meet Pumpkin, the artistic studio cat. Pumpkin is always first to arrive at life drawing and last to leave. She loves to curl up on someones sketch pad and sometimes goes to sleep by the model, but never when we want her too. She loves artists and loves all the creative energy in the room.
